Mysuru, Dec. 10, 2020: “There is no dearth of job opportunities today. But there is a shortage of skilled labour. Hence, it is very essential to obtain skill training,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Mysore University.
He inaugurated the ‘Abhivinyasa’ programme held at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, organized for the benefit of students who have enrolled for degree courses this year. “The government can’t provide education or jobs to everyone. In this background, the services rendered by the Suttur Math and other Maths in the state are invaluable and appreciable. Rural students have benefitted a lot from the educational institutions established by Suttur Srimath. The JSS College is providing several useful courses, especially skill-based courses. Students should make good use of it. The students need to obtain skill education today. You should have an aim and work hard to achieve it,” he said.
In his presidential address, Dr.C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS MVP said, “His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Rajendra Mahaswamiji was a visionary. He laid a strong foundation for the Srimath which is rendering excellent service in arts, literature, spiritual, social, health, and other service sectors. The present pontiff has been successful in strengthening it further. As a result of all this JSS MVP has gained popularity across the country and abroad. JSS Institutions have been functioning very well and in a very organised manner even amidst COVID pandemic time. As a result of this, you have been able to participate in this online programme. Today’s students may witness several changes in future. They should try to adapt and match accordingly and face problems. All this will be possible only through higher education. Try to utilize your strengths optimally,” he added.
In his introductory speech, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College Complex advised the students to utilize the facilities adequately provided by the college and try to get more marks and become good citizens of the country. “Our college has achieved several milestones and has won a very good reputation. We have also introduced many courses as per the present requirement. We are providing all the required facilities to the students, as expected by the parents,” he said.
Earlier the programme commenced with an invocation by Kum Anusha. Dr. H.C. Ponnappa, Principal welcomed the gathering. Dr. Kumudini gave a vote of thanks. Dr. Poornima M., Head of English Department compered. This is an online programme and will be held for three days from December 10 to 12, 2020, and will introduce the students to the college, information about education, facilities available, curriculum, and extra-curricular centers.
