Principal’s Message

JSS School of Nursing has earned a brand name as one of the best Nursing Schools in the state. About 550 students have successfully walked out from the portal of School of Nursing, holding the banner high. They are the ambassadors of our Nursing School in and around the country.

The school has a supportive learning environment, good laboratory, clinical and library facilities that attract the students to study here. Our students excel in both curricular and co-curricular activities. The school has efficient, experienced and highly experienced faculty who plan all the curricular and co-curricular activities for the students meticulously.

Course offered:

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) – 3 years Course.

• Academic year : September to August
• Last date of regular admission: 31^st August every year. The waiting list and other admission process should be completed by 15^th September every year.
• Annual Examination will be held in the month of August every year, an announcement of the result in the month of November.

Admission

Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:

1. 10+2 with 40% marks from any recognized board. However, Science is preferable.
2. Candidates from State Open School, recognized by the State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government are also eligible.
3. Registered ANM.
4. There will be a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST candidates.
5. Minimum age for admission is 17 years. (as on 31^st December of respective year). The upper age limit is 35 years. For ANM/LHV, there is no age limit.
6. Medical fitness of students is also a criteria for admission.

Application

• Application will be issued every year in the month of April-June.

Clinical Facilities:

1. Students of JSS School of Nursing get maximum exposure and practical experience through the 1800 bedded JSS Hospital, Mysore which is the parent hospital.
2. The Government Hospital, Kollegal, which is a 170 bedded hospital, also provides a good practical experience for the students.

Community facilities: For a specific period of time, the student nurses are assigned tasks to gain maximum practical experience by planning, selecting and arranging field visits in the field of community health nursing.

Classrooms:

• Classrooms with an accommodation capacity of 50 students in each room.
• Classrooms are well-ventilated, supported by lighting system and LCD
