JSS Spiritual Mission, USA

The JSS Spiritual Mission, in association with similar organizations, has made united efforts to spread India’s rich socio-cultural and spiritual heritage to all corners of the world. The Mission has engaged itself in activities which center around religious discourses, the practice of yoga and the dissemination of spiritual knowledge through publication of books and preparation of cassettes and CDs. In this way, the ancient values are made accessible to everyone.

The mission has been established under 501c3, with a church status. The Mission aims to serve the society by facilitating the citizens to imbibe lasting values that have come through our traditions. These will cut across the boundaries of caste, creed, community, race, etc., and serve everyone who aspires for a safe and peaceful life.

Ever since the 1000 AD, when the Adi Jagadguru Sri Sivarathreeshwara Shivayaogi Mahaswamiji established the Suttur Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Math, its pontiffs have selflessly dedicated themselves in guiding the seekers of God and shaping the spiritual dedication and growth of the Math. The ‘Mantra Maharshi’ Swamiji made the foundation strong through his steadfast approach of writing Shadakshari Mantra.

Ths JSS Spiritual Mission is founded in the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream of His Holiness Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, who visited the US in 1986. Enthused by the desire of the JSS alumni, their families and the devotees of JSS institutions, the JSS Spiritual Mission was established in 1999, by His Holiness Jagadguru Sri. Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the present pontiff of the Math.

The objectives of the Spiritual Mission are to propagate the principles of right living through Yoga and Meditation, as well as to establish institutions of excellence for teaching human values. Formal education is also an objective of the Mission. It also intends to conduct workshops, symposia, seminars, retreats, etc., under the guidance of scholars and spiritual leaders to enable our offshore kinsmen to have access to our world of sacred knowledge and wisdom, and also to publish scriptural texts, literature and spiritual experiences via contemporary media. Re-instilling faith in Indian rituals like gurudeeksha, pooja, naming ceremony, housewarming ceremony, weddings, etc., is also an aim of the Mission. The Mission also proposes to set up joint venture activities with other missions sharing similar value systems.
