Suttur, December 28, 2023: JSS High School in Suttur proudly organized a Cluster-level Educational and Science Expo as part of the vibrant jatra mahotsav. The event kicked off with a futuristic touch as robots welcomed attendees, setting the tone for an exciting and innovative program.

More than 140 diverse models, covering subjects such as food and nutrition, social science, biology, agriculture, physics, chemistry, mathematics, sports, and languages, were on display. These models, meticulously crafted by students from various JSS schools in the Suttur Cluster, showcased their creativity and knowledge across a wide range of disciplines.

The exhibition highlighted the students’ proficiency in different fields, emphasizing their understanding and practical application of various subjects. Out of the impressive 140 models, 41 were selected for further recognition and will be prominently featured in the upcoming Educational and Science Exhibition scheduled for February 2024 in Suttur.

Distinguished panelists, including Dr. Mahadevaprasad, Dr. Mallikarjun, Prof. Siddaramaiah, Prof. N. Mahadevaswamy, Prof. Vijayaguru Manjunath, Shri Shivanand, Shri Nagarajachar, and Shri Aralikatte Rajappa, provided valuable insights and expertise, enhancing the overall evaluation of the displayed models.

Key figures and officials present at the event included Shri N. Renukaswamy, Subject Inspector Shri S.C. Channabasappa, Shri Nagaraju, Coordinating Officer Shri G.L. ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra Unveils Promising Alternatives to Jyothi Paddy Variety

Suttur, December 22, 2023: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur marked a significant milestone today with the distribution of four new paddy varieties as alternatives to the Jyothi variety. Following successful cultivation by local farmers, a field day was organized at Gurulingegowda’s paddy field in Biligere Village, Nanjangud Taluk.

The event featured a dais program at JSS KVK, where Shri Ravi, Assistant Agriculture Director, emphasized the importance of disease-resistant varieties. Farmers were advised to implement precautionary measures, including seed treatment and the application of medicines, to enhance yield.

Dr. H.B. Manoj, Paddy Variety Scientist of V.C. Farm, shared insights on preventing diseases and pests in paddy crops. Farmers expressed their preference for the ‘Sahyadri Kempu Mukti’ and ‘KMP 220′ varieties due to their disease resistance and increased height compared to the Jyothi variety.

Progressive farmers Sri Shankarguru and Gurulingegowda, along with Scientist Dr. Manoj and Senior Scientist and Head of JSS KVK Smt. H.V. Divya, inaugurated the program. Dr. Manoj highlighted the features of the KMP 220 variety, emphasizing the positive results obtained in farmers’ fields.

In her address, Smt. H.V. Divya commended farmers for their keen interest in adopting new varieties. She provided insights into the characteristics of the newly introduced red paddy varieties, including KMP 220, Sahyadri Kempu Mukti, and Kerala Agriculture University’s Shreyas and Pournami varieties.

Farmers, considered agro-scientists in this context, actively participated in the selection process, providing information about yield, market prices, and plant characteristics post-harvest. The participating farmers evaluated the paddy varieties, with ‘Sahyadri Kempu Mukti’ receiving the highest score, indicating its suitability for the region.

Dr. Y.P. Prasad orchestrated the program, with JSS KVK Scientists Sri Shamraj and Shilpa, and over 20 farmers, both male and female, from surrounding villages in attendance.

This initiative not only empowers local farmers with alternative options but also fosters collaboration between farmers and agro-scientists, contributing to the sustainable development of agriculture in the region.

Suttur, December 22, 2023: The JSS High School, Suttur earned highest number of prizes in the 3-days JSS Inter-Institutions Sports Meet held in Suttur, on the occasion of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Shri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s Punyaradhane, and bagged the ‘Overall Prize.’

Boys: Akshaykumar (100 m, 1st place); Omprakash Mehto (100 m, 2nd; 200 m, 1st); Mahantesh (800 m, 2nd); Darshan (800 m, 3rd), Ganesh C. Chintkal (Javelin Throw, 1st); Chritosingh (2nd) and 1st place in 4×100 m running.

Group sports: The school topped in Kho-Kho, Mahantesh was declared as the ‘Best Player,’ and won cash prize.

In boys category, the school earned a total of 35 points and won ‘Overall Prize.’

Girls: Keerthana M. (200 m 1st); Sakshi C.P. (2nd); Meghana (400 m, 3rd). In 1500 m running Boramma won 1st place, and Kasturi won 3rd prize.

In Disc thrown, Hakammanmi (1st); Javelin Throw (Yayabi, 1st), Brunda (2nd) won prizes. In High Jump Hakamanmi won 1st prize and in 4×100 m relay she won 2nd prize.

Group sports: The school teams won in Kho-Kho (2nd), Throw Ball (3rd prize).

In girls category the school secured 35 points and won ‘Overall Prize,’ and 1st place in Parade.

Boys: Kanjang Bam (100 m running, 1st place), Sharathkumar (100 m running, 1st), Laishram Macson (200 m 3rd), Nitin S. (400 m, 1st), Moyirang Tem Bheetaraj Maiti (400 m, 3rd), Basavaraju K.S. (600 m, 1st), Gunasheetal (2nd), Mallikarjun N. (Disc throw, 1st) and shot put (2nd place). In high jump Kanjang Bam secured 1st place and 2nd place in long jump. He also secured 1st place in 4×100 m. relay.

Group sports: The school secured first place in Kabaddi (Nitin S., ‘Best Player).

In Boy’s category, Kanjang Bam earned 13 points and emerged as the Individual Champion.

The boys team earned 50 points and took away the Overall Prize.

Mysuru, December 21, 2023: In response to the escalating global issue of substance abuse, JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science, in collaboration with Krishna Raja Police Station, organized a crucial awareness program on “Prevention of Drug Abuse.” The event, held on December 20, 2023, at the Seminar Hall of the college, marked a significant contribution to the ongoing “Crime Prevention Month.”

Circle Inspector Mr. K C Nagegowda from KR Police Station took the stage, addressing an audience of over 120 postgraduate students. Mysuru, December 21, 2023: In a remarkable display of talent, Ananya R.V., a 3rd year B.Sc. student of JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, clinched the first prize in the 28th Annual Inter-College State-level Debate competition. The event, held in commemoration of V. Narayanrao as part of the Anniversary of Sahitya Sangha, took place at Annapurna Nilaya of The Anathalaya Sasmthe in Mysuru. Ananya R.V. was awarded a prestigious rolling shield in recognition of her outstanding debating skills.

Suttur, December 17, 2023: Dr. K. Govindaraju, President of the Karnataka Olympic Association and Chief Minister’s Political Secretary, delivered a compelling address at the inaugural function of the JSS Inter-Institutions Sports Meet in Suttur, highlighting the significance of sports in alleviating stress in our lives.

Dr. Govindaraju urged students to prioritize sports alongside their academic pursuits, emphasizing the need for specific goals and determination. Stressing the vital role sports play in maintaining good health, he encouraged students to engage in at least one hour of sports activities daily.

Expressing gratitude for being part of the event, Dr. Govindaraju commended the JSS Institution for not only providing education but also instilling good culture in students. He acknowledged the success of numerous JSS alumni who have achieved top positions nationally and internationally.

Individual Prizes: Kum. Kanjang Bam (13 points) and Kum. Lakshmi A.H., (15 points) of the JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur, have earned prizes in the Individual category.

Team Prize: The JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur, earned overall 50 points in the boys category and 46 points in girls category and bagged the prize.

High School Division

Individual Prizes: In boys category Kailas, of the JSS Public School, J.P. Nagar, Mysuru secured 15 points and in girls category Kum. Kritkalakshmi, of the JSS Public School, HSR Layout, Bengaluru earned 10 points and bagged the prizes.

Team Prize: The JSS High School, Suttur secured 35 points in boys category and 35 points in girls category and won the team prize.

PU College

Individual Prize: In boys category, Harish A.J. of JSS PU College, Doddakadanuru earned 10 points and in girls category Kum. Manya of the JSS PU College, Chamarajanagara secured 10 points and earned Individual prizes.

Team Prize: In boys category, the JSS PU College, Doddakadanuru and JSS PU College, Malur secured 18 points each and earned Team prize jointly. In girls category the JSS Women’s PU College, Chamarajanagara secured 31 pints and won the Team prize.

Individual Prize: In boys category Arjunraj B.K. of the JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, earned 10 points and Kum. Rushali of the Sri Jayachamarajendra Engineering College, Mysuru, earned 10 points and claimed the Individual positions.

Team Prize: The JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty secured 34 points in boys category and the JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru earned 28 prizes and bagged the Team prizes.

Parade: The JSS School, Suttur, secured 1st position in Primary School and High School divisions. In the PU College division, JSS Women’s PU College, Saraswathipuram and in the Degree College division the Sri Jayachamarajendra Engineering College secured first positions.

Kabaddi: The JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur secured the first place in both boys and girls category. Nitin and Habana emerged as the Best Players in boys and girls categories respectively.

Kho-Kho: In High School division, the JSS High School secured the first position in boys category, and Mahantesh emerged as the Best Player. In the girls category, the JSS High School, Kalkunike secured first place. Sahana H.S. emerged as the Best Player.

Volleyball: In the High School division, while the JSS Boys High School, Chamarajanagara secured the first place, Nagesh P., of the Devalapura School emerged as the Best Player. In Throw Ball, the JSS High School team of Sargur emerged as the toppers. Parinata B., of the Mysuru Public School earned the Best Player award.

In the PU College, Boys Volleyball and Ball Badminton categories the JSS PU College, Ooty Road, Mysuru secured the first position, Nagabhushan and Keerthikumar K., won the Best Players awards. In the girls Throwball and Ball Badminton tournaments, the JSS Women’s PU College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru secured the first place and Harishta A.N., and Madalambika of the College emerged as the Best Players.

In the Degree College Boys Volleyball category, the JSS College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Ooty Road, Mysuru emerged in the top place, and Vedith of the Sri Jayachamarajendra Engineering College, Mysuru emerged as the Best Player.

In Badminton tournament, the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Nanjangud secured first place, and Shivaprasad C.S. was declared as the Best Player. In Girls Throwball category the JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru team secured the first place, and Jenenina Kuthinha of the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, was declared as the Best Player.

In Ball Badminton the JSS Women’s College, Kollegal secured first position, and Sinchana T.S. was declared as the Best Player.
