Empowering Students for Self-Employability: INNOVATRACE-2023 Ideathon Unveils a Wave of Entrepreneurial Spirit

Mysuru, October 19, 2023: In a resounding call to action, Mr. Shivashankar B, Chief Executive of SJCE-STEP, underscored the paramount importance of cultivating an ‘Inbox thinking’ mindset and unwavering enthusiasm for success in any endeavor. This motivational address was delivered during the Ideathon for Startups INNOVATRACE-2023, a G20 Jan Bhagidari event organized by the Startup Cell under the auspices of IQAC program. The event took place at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, on October 19, 2023.

Mr. Shivashankar exhorted students and researchers to view problems as challenges and to stand prepared to confront obstacles in their careers with resilience, all while gleaning lessons from past missteps.

Prof. B V Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the college, delivered an enlightening presidential address, highlighting India’s abundant resources and opportunities. He emphasized the increasing role of technology and industry in the country’s trajectory, noting that the Government of India, UGC, and State Governments have implemented numerous schemes to nurture entrepreneurship among college students, significantly bolstering the nation’s economic advancement. Prof. B V Sambashivaiah stressed the imperative for students to translate theoretical ideas into practical projects, underscoring the pivotal role of the Start-up Cell as a platform for cultivating entrepreneurial talent.

Dr. S. Prathibha, Principal of JSS College, extended a warm welcome to the attendees. Dr. Shiva Kumar, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Kannada, presided as the program host. Dr. Rekha. N. D, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Bio-Technology, extended the vote of thanks. Kum. M. C Pooja of III B.Sc. rendered the invocation.

A total of 35 teams from various colleges participated in the event, presenting their innovative startup ideas. The first prize was claimed by Pallabi Ghosh and team from JSS College of Pharmacy, with the second prize secured by Hamsini and team from the college. The third prize was jointly awarded to two teams, Jashmitha and team from JSSAHER, and Shreesharan B. and team from the college.

The INNOVATRACE-2023 Ideathon stands as a testament to the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit among students, poised to be a driving force in India’s economic landscape.

Empowering Women in Agriculture: ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra Celebrates Women Kisan Diwas

Suttur, October 16, 2023: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur commemorated Women Kisan Diwas with a program focused on the theme ‘Millets: Empowering Women and Providing Nutritional Security.’

In an enlightening address, Chief Guest Sri Gangappa Hipparagi, Field Manager, ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, underscored the pivotal role women play in agricultural activities and their crucial contribution to the financial independence of families.

Smt. Rani Hosakote shared profound insights into the creativity and functionality of women in their day-to-day lives, emphasizing their invaluable contributions.

Smt. Divya H.V., Head (Incharge), JSS KVK, Suttur, emphasized the significance of Women Kisan Diwas, shedding light on the opportunities and status accorded to women in society. Through compelling examples, she urged women towards self-employment and assured them of the KVK’s steadfast support and guidance in agriculture and farming.

Dr. Prasad Y.P. skillfully moderated the program, ensuring a seamless and impactful event, while Madhumahendra extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and the gathered audience.

The program witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over 30 women farmers, reflecting the growing interest and involvement of women in the agricultural sector.

JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri

Mysuru, October 2, 2023: In a heartfelt commemoration event held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Mysuru, on October 2, 2023, the indomitable spirit and enduring principles of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri were celebrated. The event was graced by Dr. Jayappa Honnali, renowned author known as Jayakavi Mysore, who delivered an inspiring address.

Dr. Honnali began by lauding Mahatma Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to action, highlighting the belief that actions speak louder than words. He recounted instances of Gandhi’s influence, even over the mightiest empires, and shared a poignant moment when a judge stood in reverence for the Mahatma.

October 2nd also marked the birthday anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Dr. Honnali took the opportunity to extol the virtues of this great Prime Minister and his profound influence on the present generation.

During the Presidential Speech, Prof. B. V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, provided insightful biographical details of Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing how Gandhi overcame personal insecurities to champion global issues through non-violence. He underscored how even Gandhi’s adversaries eventually became his followers, a testament to the transformative power of his ideals.

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Dr. S Prathibha, Principal of the College, who extended a warm welcome to the gathering. Sri Gurupadaswamy from the Department of Kannada PU College proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. L Vinay Kumar, NCC officer of the college and Convener National festivals committee, skillfully compered the program. Prof. S. Somashekar, Principal PU JSS College, was also present.

The invocation was beautifully rendered by Kum. Pooja Hegde, and a touching floral tribute was paid to Gandhiji by Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah and other distinguished guests.
