JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri

Mysuru, October 2, 2023: In a heartfelt commemoration event held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Mysuru, on October 2, 2023, the indomitable spirit and enduring principles of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri were celebrated. The event was graced by Dr. Jayappa Honnali, renowned author known as Jayakavi Mysore, who delivered an inspiring address.

Dr. Honnali began by lauding Mahatma Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to action, highlighting the belief that actions speak louder than words. He recounted instances of Gandhi’s influence, even over the mightiest empires, and shared a poignant moment when a judge stood in reverence for the Mahatma.

October 2nd also marked the birthday anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Dr. Honnali took the opportunity to extol the virtues of this great Prime Minister and his profound influence on the present generation.

During the Presidential Speech, Prof. B. V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, provided insightful biographical details of Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing how Gandhi overcame personal insecurities to champion global issues through non-violence. He underscored how even Gandhi’s adversaries eventually became his followers, a testament to the transformative power of his ideals.

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Dr. S Prathibha, Principal of the College, who extended a warm welcome to the gathering. Sri Gurupadaswamy from the Department of Kannada PU College proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. L Vinay Kumar, NCC officer of the college and Convener National festivals committee, skillfully compered the program. Prof. S. Somashekar, Principal PU JSS College, was also present.

The invocation was beautifully rendered by Kum. Pooja Hegde, and a touching floral tribute was paid to Gandhiji by Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah and other distinguished guests.
