Special pooja Mahotsav at Jagadguru Ghanalinga Shivayogi Swamiji’s shrine in Suttur

Suttur, February 28, 2023: As part of the Sri Thontada Siddalingeshwara Swamiji’s Jatra Mahotsav in Tumakuru District Kunigal Taluk Kaggere, special pooja, Rudrabhisheka, and other rituals were performed at the Jagadguru Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi Mahaswamiji’s shrine, on 25.02.2023.

Jagadguru Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi Swamiji, the 11th pontiff of the Suttur Srimath lineage had been involved in social works along with Yediyuru Sri Siddalingeshwara Swamiji. Like the pioneers of that time, Sri Ghanalinga Swamiji also spread immortal messages to the religious and spiritual world through his vachanas.

Procession idol of Sri Thontada Siddalingeshwara was brought to the Jagadguru Sri Ghanalingeshwara Swamiji’s shrine at Kaggere, in Tumakuru District and pooja was performed.

Sri Thontada Siddalingeshwara Swamiji’s procession idol was brought to the shrine. Several officers of the JSS Institutions and the Suttur Srimath, Duggahatti Sri Veerabhadrappa and family members, temple administrative board members, and devotees from Kaggere and surrounding villages took part in the pooja programs in large numbers.

Music teachers of the JSS Music School, Suttur, and students presented the vachana recital program. Prasad was distributed after the program.

Shruti Amruth – Day 2

On the second day of the Shruti Amruth event, there were performances of Ustad Shahid Parvez, an Indian classical Sitar maestro and Vidwan Sanjay Subramaniam, a Carnatic Vocalist. Music lovers of Mysore gathered at Sri Suttur Math and relished the performances. Shruti Amrut was organised as a tribute to the unsung heroes of freedom.

Shruti Amruth – Day 1

SHRUTI AMRUTH presented by SPIC MACAY, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, JSS AHER and JSS STU was held at Sri Suttur Math on 24th Feb 2023. On the Day -1 of Shruti Amruth, Smt. Sunanda Sharma, Hindustani Vocalist and Smt. Madhavi Mudgal, a renowned Odissi exponent graced the evening with exemplary performances. The event was inaugurated by Sri Mysore Manjunath, Renowned Violinist, Dr C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSSMVP, Sri R Mahesh, DME, JSSMVP and Dr B Manjunath, Registrar, JSSAHER.

Diamond Jubilee Endowment Lecture -13 and Book Release

The Golden Jubilee Endowment Lecture -13 and Book Release was held on 17th Feb 2023 in the divine presence of HH Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji at Sri Rajendra Centenary Auditorium, JSS Hospital, Mysuru. At the event Sri Anoop Natwar Mehta, Chairperson, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and Chief Strategist Analytical Mechanics Associates, USA delivered the Golden Jubilee Special Lecture on the topic “Tomorrow’s India Begins Today: Leveraging Accountability for ESG”. Sri KV Rajendran, Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru released the book and Sri Manian Mathivanan, Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Bengaluru presided over the event.

Inculcating ethics and moral values among students essential: Prof. H. Rajashekar

Mysuru, February 16, 2023: “The society can be bifurcated into three segments, namely, Society, institution, and student community. Out of these three, the student community plays a vital role in leading the country,” observed Prof. H. Rajashekar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore.

He participated in the UGC-sponsored ‘Deeksharambh’, a student induction program for the 1st year PG students of the JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru today.

“The students get admission to colleges with a fresh mindset. They will having their dreams and priorities, and join colleges with an expectation of a bright future. Especially, PG education is very challenging as students will have different thoughts and they will need the institution’s support. Higher education institutions have a greater role to play in the development of students at this juncture. It should be the goal of any educational institution to enrich the knowledge and meet the student’s needs. In this respect, the JSS institutions are rendering a yeoman service,” he observed.

In his conceptual note, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, explained the need of conducting the Induction Programme and how it helps newcomers to get acquainted with different aspects of the institution, about the program, courses, facilitates available in the college and also ethics and moralities of the College that the students have to imbibe. He also briefly explained the salient features of the College. He thanked His Holiness Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji as well as JSS Mahavidyapeetha for providing continuous support in the overall development of the College.

Prof. M.P. Vijayendra Kumar, the Principal, welcomed the guests and the gathering. Dr. Kumudini Achchi proposed a vote of thanks. Earlier, the program commenced with an invocation by Ms. Bindushree T.N. and the team.

Dr. N. Rajendraprasad, IQAC Coordinator mastered the program. The two-day program will be highly beneficial for the 520 first-year PG students of 15 various PG programs. There will be different technical talks by both outside and in-house resource persons covering different aspects as laid down by UGC.

Special programs at Suttur on Mahashivarathri Festival day

Mysuru, February 16, 2023: The Mahashivarathri festival on February 18, Saturday, will be held at Suttur in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Special poojas will be held at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, from 6.00 pm to 6.00 am. Poojas will also be conducted at the Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerabhdadreshwara, Sri Nanjundeshwara and Sri Narayanaswamy temples. The Shivadeekshe will be held at 7.00 pm, the silver chariot prakaratosava will be held at 9.30 pm.

Silver jewels offered to the Sri Nanjundeshwara Temple, by Sri H.S. Raghavendrarao and family of S. Hosakete will be decorated to the deity.

There will be a music and dance program by the students of the JSS Residential School, Suttur in the premises of the shrine at 5.30 pm, devotional and folk songs by Lasya and team at 8.00 pm, Shivakatha Sankeertane by Keertana Bhaskara Sri B.S. Gangadhar Achar, at 10.30 pm, Neelagarara Mela by Sri Siddappaji Neelagarara Sangha of Ramasamudra at 1.00 am, Bhajan program by Sri Basaveshwara Bhajan tem of Horalawadi at 5.00 am.

There will also be various bhajan programs by various teams between 6.00 am to 6.00 pm on Saturday in the Sri Math and the temple premises.

The amavasya special pooja will be held on February20, 2023. All the programs will be conducted by the offerings of the devotees. Those who want to take part in the special pooja programs are requested to call 8896964242.

NCC Cadets who took part in the 74th Republic Day celebrations congratulated

Mysuru, February 14, 2023: Students and NCC cadets of the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, B. Shashank, D. Soundarya, M.S. Surya, D. Aishwarya, and U. Jayashri took part in the 74th Republic Day parade held at New Delhi.

These students were congratulated and certificates of appreciation were distributed at a program held at Bengaluru. Director General of the Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate, Air Commodore Sri B.S. Kanwar distributed the certificates and congratulated all the cadets. M. Shankaramma, who took part in the Taal Sainik camp was also felicitated in the program. Another cadet M.R. Shivaram, who also took part in the Taal Sainik camp, was honored with the Chief Minister’s medal.

Lt. Dr. L. Vinaykumar, NCC Officer of the JSS College, Ooty Road, Mysuru, was also honored with the Chief Minister’s medal. The JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, also received the Best Institution Award, which is a matter of pride.

The Chief Executive of the College and the Principal have congratulated all the NCC cadets and officers on their achievements.

Seminar on Applications of Algebra and Analysis

Mysore, February 11, 2023: The Department of Mathematics, JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science (autonomous), Nanjangud Road, Mysuru, had organized a one-day seminar on the topic ‘Applications of Algebra and Analysis,’ sponsored by the International Quality Assurance Cell of the college.

Dr. B. Chaluvaraju , Senior Professor, Department of Mathematics, University of Bangalore, inaugurated the seminar. B.V. Shambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College presided over the program. Principal Prof. M .P. Vijayendra Kumar, Prof. S. Linganna, Prof. M. Mahadevaswamy, of the Department of Mathematics were on the dais. Kum. Rekashree gave an invocation, and Prof H M. Asha compered. Prof. Ranjitha M. welcomed the gathering and Prof. Jyothi G., gave a vote of thanks.

There were three technical sessions. The first session was by Dr. B. Chaluvaraju. He delivered a lecture on ‘A Concise Journey of Modern Algebra.’ He explained in detail the major developments and applications. In the second session, Dr. Boregowda of the Tumakuru University gave a lecture on ‘Evolution of Integration from Newton to Riemann. In the last session was by Prof. Bharatha K. (an alumnus of the college), faculty at the St. Philomena’s P.G. Centre, Mysuru. There were discussions at the end of each session.

More than 300 delegates (including teachers and students from various colleges) participated in the seminar.
