Sri V. Vinod Kumar Selected for State-Level Science Competition

Sri V. Vinod Kumar, a Physics teacher at JSS High School, Suttur, has been awarded first prize at the District-level Science Competition for High School Teachers, organized by the Mysuru District Institute of Educational Training (DIET) in collaboration with the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of Karnataka, and the Zilla Panchayat, Mysuru.

Sri Vinod Kumar’s innovative models titled “Fun Physics” and “Smart Iron Box” earned him top honors. The “Smart Iron Box” features an advanced technology that automatically raises the iron box one inch from the surface when left idle with the switch in the ‘ON’ position, enhancing safety and efficiency. His exceptional work has secured him a spot in the upcoming State-level competition.

The district-level competition saw the participation of high school teachers from various taluks across Mysuru District, with 14 models being presented in categories such as Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Artificial Intelligence.

The Administrative Officer, Coordinating Officer, Head Master, and fellow teachers have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Sri Vinod Kumar for his outstanding achievement and contribution to educational innovation.

ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra and National Fertilizers Ltd. Launch ‘Plant a Tree in the Name of Mother’ Campaign

Suttur, September 21, 2024: ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Suttur, in collaboration with National Fertilizers Limited, organized a tree planting and sapling distribution program under the theme ‘Plant a Tree in the Name of Mother.’ The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about the urgent need to protect the environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Mukesh M. Mishra, Zonal Manager of National Fertilizers Ltd., emphasized the importance of educating the public about environmental preservation. He highlighted that the program’s key objective is to address the growing environmental crisis and encourage individuals to take action in safeguarding the planet.

Dr. Jnanesh B.N., Senior Scientist and Head of JSS KVK, in his address, expressed that the theme of the campaign serves as a meaningful reminder for people to plant trees as a gesture of gratitude and respect towards their mothers. He urged everyone to take part in the movement and contribute to protecting the environment.

Several distinguished guests were present, including Sri Suresh M. from National Fertilizers Ltd., Vamshi Krishna Lakkam from Ujjain, and Kashappa Chikkanaragund and Gangappa Hipparagi. Staff members from JSS KVK, including Vinay G.M., Shamraj, Divya, Bindu Joseph, Deepak, Rakshitraj, and Prasad, also participated in the event.

Scientists Dr. Muralidhar and Dr. Ramakrishna took part in the symbolic tree planting ceremony, planting saplings on the occasion. As part of the program, saplings were distributed free of cost to farmers, encouraging them to contribute to environmental conservation efforts.

The event was a resounding success, promoting the message of environmental sustainability and honoring the nurturing spirit of mothers through the act of tree planting.

Suttur, September 20, 2024: Students of the JSS Higher Primary School took part in the taluk-level sports meet organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy, held at Nanjangud and emerged victorious in several sports events and are selected to participate in the district-level sports meet. The details of the winners are as follows:

Boys: Mahantesh Nayak (400 m. running – 1st place); Guruprasad (66 m. running – 1st place); Mohirang Beetaraj (high jump – 1st place; 100 m. running and long jump – 2nd place); Mohit kumar Mohato (long jump – 1st place); Yashwant and team (4×100 m. relay – 1st place)

Girls: Lysaram Jeenalakshmi (high jump – 1st place; long jump – 2nd place); Sohaka (shot put – 1st place; disc throw – 2nd place).

The boys and girls Kabaddi team of the school secured first place and are selected to take part in the district-level tournament. The boys team also secured 2nd place in kho-kho and ball badminton tournaments.

Free Mass Marriage Program in Suttur on September 5, 2024

Suttur, August 21, 2024: The Suttur Sri Veerasimhasana Samsthana Math will be conducting a free mass marriage program on September 5, 2024, Thursday, with the divine blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Since February 2009, the Samsthana Math has been conducting monthly free mass marriage programs, apart from the mass marriage program held during the Adijagadguru’s Jatra Mahotsav at Suttur Srikshetra.

This program aims to help couples who are economically challenged and cannot afford the expenses of a traditional wedding ceremony. Sri Haraguru Charamurthy will participate in the mass marriages held at Suttur Srikshetra and bless the couples.

The program is open to couples where the groom is above 21 years of age and the bride is above 18 years of age. Interested individuals can send applications along with photographs of the bride and groom, caste certificates, and certificate or school marks card copy as proof of age. Child marriages are strictly prohibited.

Suttur, September 15, 2024: The six-day Bharath Scouts and Guides camp, organized at Sri Suttur Kshetra, concluded on Sunday, September 15, 2024, with a valedictory program that celebrated the successful completion of the training. The camp, conducted under the auspices of Sri Suttur Math, saw enthusiastic participation from teachers, scouts, and guides from across the state.

In his valedictory address, Sri P. Vishwanath, Chief Commissioner of Mysore District for Bharat Scouts and Guides, expressed his gratitude to His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji for facilitating the boarding and lodging arrangements for all attendees. He highlighted the importance of expanding the Scouts and Guides community in Karnataka. “Currently, there are over six lakh Scouts and Guides in the state, and we aim to increase this number to 10 lakh, demonstrating our commitment to serving the country and promoting love for the nation,” said Sri Vishwanath. He also pointed out the shortage of Scouts and Guides trainers in Karnataka and encouraged more participation in such camps to address this gap.

Sri B.K. Basavaraju, Joint Secretary of the Karnataka State Bharat Scouts and Guides, who served as the chief guest, emphasized the values of country, justice, and service. He urged the teachers who attended the camp to instill these values in their students, fostering good citizenship, patriotism, and a spirit of service.

Sri S.P. Udayashankar, Administrative Officer of JSS Educational Institution, presided over the event and commended the participants for their enthusiasm throughout the camp. He encouraged the trainees to pass on the knowledge they gained to their students, fostering love for the country and a dedication to service in future generations.

(2nd place – disc throw and shot put); Eerappa (3rd place – 400 m. running); Siddaramaiah (2nd place – 200 m. running); Nagaraju and team (1st place – 4×400 m running); Advaith and team (2nd place – 4×100  m. running).

Girls: Ranjita (1st place – 800 m. running); B.D. Kasturi (1st place 1500 m. running); Sneha (2nd place – disc throw), Yafbi (2nd place – shot put and javelin); kasturi and team (1st place – 4×400 m. running); Keertana and team (2nd place – 4×100 m.); Boramma (2nd place – 3000 m.).

In below 14-year boys category, Sharat Prasad secured 1st place in 100 m. running, and Vijaykumar secured 1st place in high jump and among girls Yogini secured first place in disc throw and high jump. They were selected to take part in the district-level competitions.

Suttur, September 14, 2024: The JSS Educational Institution, Suttur, celebrated the 109th Jayanti Mahotsav of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji alongside Teachers’ Day on September 14, 2024. The event was marked by reverence, cultural activities, and recognition of meritorious students and teachers.

In his keynote address, Prof. S. Mallanna, Retired Principal and renowned Sugama Sangeetha artist from Mysuru, emphasized the significant contributions of HH Sri Rajendra Mahaswamiji. “He was a beacon of knowledge for countless poor and rural students, offering support to the neglected and weak. He introduced the concept of ‘dasoha’—free distribution of knowledge and food, aiding thousands through education and sustenance. His Holiness’ tireless efforts have propelled the cultural, social, educational, and spiritual progress of our society,” he stated. Prof. Mallanna further highlighted how His Holiness’ work in opening institutions like the Sangeetha Sabha and Sharana Sahitya Parishat laid a foundation for holistic development.

Sri Swamy S., Deputy Director, D.S.E.R.T., Bengaluru, the event’s chief guest, praised the contributions of HH Sri Rajendra Mahaswamiji. “He was a true yogi who catered to the needs of society’s hunger, thirst, and knowledge,” he remarked, adding that Suttur has now become a spiritual hub because of these relentless efforts. On the significance of Teachers’ Day, he shared insights about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the great philosopher and educationist, and called on teachers to inspire their students and cultivate achievement. He urged teachers to recognize the hidden talents of students and nurture them to achieve success.

The day began with pooja ceremonies at the Shrine, followed by a grand procession featuring a robotic elephant carrying the idol of His Holiness. The procession was accompanied by vibrant folk art troupes and moved around the school premises, adding to the festivities.
