Sri Suttur Math Inspires Differently-Abled Through Felicitation Programs

Suttur, December 29, 2024: Sri Jagadguru Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthan Math, Suttur, is empowering differently-abled individuals and instilling confidence through its thoughtful initiatives. This was highlighted by Dr. Banu Mushtaq during the 1065th Jayanti Mahotsav of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji. The grand event took place in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Addressing the gathering after distributing prizes to winners of various competitions, Dr. Banu Mushtaq remarked, “Differently-abled individuals serve as examples and inspiration for those who struggle with life’s challenges. The Suttur Math continues to contribute significantly to spirituality, education, and culture.”

Focus on Social Empowerment

Sri K.S. Rajanna lauded the Math’s principles of social reformation, stating, “It is commendable to see the Math identify and felicitate achievers in society. Differently-abled individuals require opportunities, not sympathy. Determination and focus can help overcome physical impairments to achieve success.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Sri D.K. Rajendra appreciated the Math’s efforts, adding, “The recognition given to individuals like us inspires us to take on greater responsibilities.”

Recognition and Cultural Contributions

Prominent personalities, including Smt. Sowmya Reddy, KPCC Women’s Wing President, and Smt. Jeeja Harisingh, DGP (Retd.), appreciated the Math’s service to society. Cultural highlights included vachana recitations by Sri H. Janardhan (Janni) and a ranga geethe presentation by Sri M.P. Raju.

The event also witnessed the felicitation of various dignitaries, including Sri Kenchaiah, Sri M.P. Rajanna, Sri Fazlu Rehman Khan, Smt. Malathisri, Smt. Premalatha Krishnaswamy, Sri Maddikere Gopal, and many others for their contributions across different fields.

Releases and Processions

The event marked the release of the ‘Suttur Sri Shivarathreeshwara Panchanga 2025,’ compiled by astrology expert Dr. K.G. Puttahonnaiah, along with Kannada and English Table Calendars published by the JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

A grand procession featuring the idol of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji paraded through the streets of Suttur, accompanied by vibrant folk art performances. The program also included a singing performance by the JSS Kalamantapa and the students and teachers of the JSS Free Residential School, Suttur.

Distinguished Participation

The event was graced by over 100 pontiffs from various maths, including Vatalu, Bettadapura, Chikkatuppuru, and others. Political leaders such as MLA H.M. Ganesh Prasad, A.R. Krishnamurthy, MLC Vivekananda, former MLA C.S. Puttaraju, and KPSC member Prabhu also attended, along with social worker Nishanth and thousands of devotees.

Well-Coordinated Program

The event commenced with an invocation by the students of the JSS Free Residential School. Prof. Morabada Mallikarjun delivered the welcome address, Sri B. Niranjanamurthy skillfully compered the program, and Sri Andaiah Shirurumath gave the vote of thanks, ensuring the event’s seamless execution.

Cluster-Level Education and Science Exhibition Held at JSS High School, Suttur

Suttur, December 21, 2024: A vibrant cluster-level Education and Science Exhibition was organized at JSS High School, Suttur, as a part of the Jatra Mahotsav. The event showcased innovative models and projects created by students from schools under the Suttur cluster.

Students from JSS Girls High Schools in Suttur, Hallikerehundi, Hullahalli, Mahadevanagara, and Nanjangud participated in the exhibition. A total of 130 models from the High School category and 47 models from the Higher Primary School category were displayed. These covered a wide array of subjects, including Land and Space, Social Sciences, Biology, Agriculture, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Sports, and Languages.

Out of these, 67 exceptional models were selected to be showcased at the upcoming Education and Science Expo, scheduled to be held in January 2025, as part of the Jatra Mahotsav in Suttur. These models aim to educate and inspire people by addressing various scientific and educational aspects.

A panel of distinguished judges, including Sri Shivamadappa, Sri Nataraju, Dr. Mahadevaprasad, Sri Shivaprasad, Sri Arjun, Sri Biligiri, Sri Mahadevaswamy, Sri Nagarachar, and Sri Aralikatte Rajappa, evaluated the models and provided their valuable insights.

The event saw the active participation of Sri Shivamadappa, Assistant Director, JSS Mahavidyapeetha; Subject Inspector Sri S.C. Channabasappa; Sri Nagaraju; Sri N. Renukaswamy; Coordinating Officer Sri G.L. Tripurantaka; and Headmaster Sri G. Shivamallu. Teachers, mentors, and students from various cluster schools also contributed significantly to the success of the exhibition.

The exhibition highlighted the creativity, talent, and enthusiasm of students, emphasizing the importance of education and innovation in shaping the future.

Shivadeepotsava Celebrated with Grandeur at Sri Sutturkshetra

Suttur, December 16, 2024: The Shivadeepotsava (Kruttika Mahotsava) was celebrated with great fervor on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Sri Sutturkshetra, in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. Special pooja programs were conducted at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji and the temples of Sri Someshwara, Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Veerabhadreshwara, and Sri Narayanaswamy as part of the festivities.

The evening celebrations featured Mahamangalarathi and a silver chariot praakarotsava, captivating the audience. Students of the JSS Free Residential School, Suttur, presented an invocation, followed by an enlightening discourse by Dr. Gubbigodu Ramesh, State Coordinating Officer, NSS Unit, Department of PU Education.

In his address, Dr. Ramesh emphasized the spiritual and moral essence of Shivadeepotsava, saying, “Leading people from darkness to light, and from ignorance to knowledge, is the true spirit of Shivadeepotsava.” He called on students to develop good values, respect elders, and practice kindness, sharing, and selflessness. He highlighted the enduring relevance of vachana literature, which offers profound wisdom for self-development and societal progress. Dr. Ramesh urged the youth to use social media responsibly, preserving culture, values, and spiritual thought while sharing ideas.

The shrines and temples were adorned with stunning lighting displays, adding charm to the celebrations. Visitors and devotees were delighted by the decorative lights and the lighting of crackers, which added to the festive atmosphere.

The event was attended by seers from Soluru, Baradanapura, Kunduru, Neelakantaswamy, Ragibommanahalli, Magadi Kammatagi, Dandikere, Kallipura, Kunturu, Pura, Kalmata, Maadralli, and Naregyatanahalli maths, along with Haraguru Charamurthy and heads of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, including Sri S.P. Manjunath, Sri S. Shivakumaraswamy, and Sri S.P. Udayashankar.

Hundreds of devotees and villagers from the surrounding areas witnessed the grand celebrations and received the blessings of the almighty, making Shivadeepotsava a truly memorable occasion.

Dhanurmasa special pooja program at Sri Sutturkshetra

Suttur, December 16, 2024: Special poojas will be conducted at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji, and Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Veerbhadreshwara, Sri Someshwara and Sri Narayanaswamy temples, from December 16,2024 to January 14, 2025, daily early in the morning as part of Dhanurmasa pooja programs.

Devotees are requested to participate in good numbers and get the blessings of the Sriguru and the deities. Boarding and lodging facilities can be arranged for sevakarthas who come the previous day.

Suttur JSS High School bags prizes at the JSS Inter-Institutions Sports Meet

Suttur, December 10, 2024: The JSS High School, Suttur, has bagged the Overall Prize by earning the highest number of prizes at the three-day JSS Inter-Institutions Sports Meet, held in commemoration of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s Punya Smarane.

Boys Category: Advith (100 m. 2nd prize); Shivappa (100 m, 3rd prize); Shravanth Reddy (200 m., 2nd prize); Mahantesh (800 m. running- 3rd prize, 1500 m. – 2nd prize); Pavan U.D. (Discuss Throw – 1st prize); Advith (2nd prize); (Pavan U.D.- Discuss Throw – 2nd prize); Abhinav (Long Jump – 2nd prize); Anirudh (High Jump – 3rd prize, 4×100 m. – Relay, 2nd prize).

Group games: The Kho-Kho team of our school secured first place. Mahantesh emerged as the Best Player and bagged cash prizes and an award.

Girls: Boramma (100 m. running – 2nd prize, 800 m. 2nd prize, 1500 m., 2nd prize); Kasturi (400 m. running 2nd prize, 1500 m. running 3rd prize); Sneha (Disc Trhow – 2nd prize); Yafabi (Shot put – 2nd prize); Pavitra (Long Jump – 2nd prize); Yogini (High Jump – 2nd prize, 4×100 m 1st prize).

The girls team of our school also secured first place in Kho-Kho tournament, and Boramma emerged as the ‘Best Player,’ and bagged cash prize and an award.

Our school team also secured first place in throw ball. Poorvika emerged as the ‘Best Player,’ and earned cash prize and a medal.

Heads of all the departments and teachers have congratulated all the winners.

Shivadeepotsava to be Celebrated at Suttur on December 13

Suttur, December 10, 2024: The Shivadeepotsava – Kruttikotsava will be celebrated with grandeur at the shrine of Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji in Sri Sutturkshetra on Friday, December 13, 2024, in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

The event will commence with a group prayer program by the music teachers and students of the JSS Free Residential School. This will be followed by the flagging off of the publicity chariot for the Jatra Mahotsav.

Dr. Gubbigodu Ramesh, State Coordinating Officer of the PU Education Department National Service Program, will deliver a special lecture during the event. The festivities will conclude with Mahamangalarathi, Praakarotsav, and the much-awaited Deepotsav at 8:00 PM, followed by the distribution of prasada to all attendees.

Special poojas will also be conducted at the temples of Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, and Sri Veerabhadhreshwara as part of the celebrations.

Devotees and the general public are warmly invited to participate in large numbers and seek the blessings of Sriguru on this auspicious occasion.

HH Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s Commemorated JSS Inter-Institutions Sports Meet Results

Suttur, December 9, 2024: Students of the various JSS Schools and Colleges who took part in the three-day JSS Inter-Institutions Sports Meet, that is being held at the Sri Sutturkshetra, in commemoration of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswami have won several prizes in individual and team categories.

Athletics

Primary School Division: Individual Prizes: Boys and Girls category – Mohith Kumar Mahato (13 points) and Lysaram Jinalakshmi (13 points) of the JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur, earned 13 points each and secured Individual prizes.

Team Prize: In boys category the students of the JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur, secured 47 points and in girls category students of the Modernized Govt. Higher Primary School, Suttur secured 44 points and bagged Team prize.

High School Division: Individual prizes: In boys category, Kailash, student of the JSS Public School, J.P. Nagara, Mysuru secured 15 points and in girls category Nisarga R., of the JSS High School secured 15 points and earned Individual prizes.

Team Prize: In boys category the students of the JSS Public School, Bage, secured 37 points and students of the JSS High School, Suttur, secured 36 points.

PU College Division: Individual Prizes: In boys category the students of the JSS Public School, HSR Layout, Bengaluru (PU Division) Sacheth Srinivas scored 10 points and in girls category, Monica H.G., of the JSS Women’s PU College, Chamarajanagara scored 8 points and bagged Individual prizes.

Team Prize: In boys category the students of the JSS PU College, Ooty Road, Mysuru scored 16 points and in girls category students of the JSS Women’s PU College, Chamarajanagara, scored 22 points and bagged the prizes.

PU College Division: Individual Prizes: In boys and girls category, students of the JSS Science and Technical University, Mysuru Dhruva Ballal and Kum. Laksha scored 10 points each and earned Individual prizes.

Team Prize: JSS Science and Technical University, Mysuru: In men’s category, the students scored 35 points and in women’s category the students of the JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru scored 26 points and earned prizes.

March past: In the Primary School Division teams from the JSS Public School, J.P. Nagara, Mysuru; in High School Division the JSS High School, Horeyala, in PU College Division, the JSS Women’s PU College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru, Degree College division, the JSS Science and Tehnical University, Mysuru, secured first place.

Primary School Divisions Kabaddi Tournament: In boys division, students of the JSS Public School, Dharwad and in girls category students of the JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur, secured first place. While Arnav P. Patil emerged as the Best Player of the tournament, Habaana H. Lingdo emerged as the Best Player in Girls category.

High School Divisions Kho-Kho Tournament: In boys and girls categories, students of the JSS High School, Suttur, secured first place, and Mahantesh and Boramma B.N., as the emerged as the Best Players in boys and girls categories respectively.

High School Divisions Volleyball: JSS High School, Sargur, secured first place, and Mohammed Akheeb emerged as the Best Player of the Tournament. In Throwball, while the JSS High School, Suttur team emerged as the toppers, Poorvika bagged the Best Player prize.

PU College Division: In Men’s Volleyball tournament, the JSS PU College, JSS TI’s premises, Mysuru secured the first place and Preetam emerged as the Best Player. In Ball Badminton tournament the JSS PU College, Hullahalli team secured first place and Adithya N.K. was declared as the Best Player of the tournament. In Women’s Throw Ball and Ball Badminton tournaments, the JSS Women’s PU College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru secured first place, and Harshitha A.N., and Pooja J. of the College bagged the Best Players Prizes.

Degree College Division: In Men’s Volleyball and Ball Badminton category, the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, secured first place. While Srinivas M.P. of the College secured the Best Player award in Volleyball, Chandan S., secured the Best Player award in Ball Badminton category. In Women’s Throw Ball, the JSS Science and Technical University, Mysuru, team secured first place, and Deepa H.M. of the College bagged the Best Player prize. In Ball Badminton, the JSS Women’s College, Kollegala secured first place, and Sinchana T.S. of the College earned the Best Player prize.

Sports Meet Record: In this year’s sports meet the following schools and students have set new records: In the Primary School Division girls category 4×100 m relay the Modernized Govt. Higher Primary School, Suttur, in High School Division Boys 800 and 1500 m sprint, the JSS Public School, J.P. Nagara, student Kailash C., and in Degree College Division 100 and 400 m sprnt, Dhruva Ballal, of the Science and Technical University, Mysuru, and in 4×100 m Men’s Relay, the Science and Technical University students have set records.

Heads of all the divisions of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, administrative officers, teaching and non-teaching staff have congratulated all the winners.

Suttur, December 9, 2024: “Education is the foundation for development, and value-based education is priceless. The JSS Mahavidyapeetha is imparting such education, which is commendable,” observed Sri Maankala S. Vaidya, Minister for Fisheries, Ports, and Inland Water Transport. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the three-day JSS Inter-Institution Sports Meet, held at Sri Sutturkshetra on Friday, December 6, 2024, in commemoration of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s 38th Punya Smarane. The event was graced by the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

In his presidential address, Sri Maankala S. Vaidya praised the JSS Mahavidyapeetha for establishing educational institutions in rural areas, nurturing the aspirations of rural students, and offering them access to quality education. He highlighted the efforts of JSS MVP under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji in providing free education to over 4,000 students at the Free Residential School in Suttur, describing it as a unique and noble initiative. He also lauded the organization’s support for sports, encouraging students to participate and excel at the national and international levels. “Defeat and victory are part of sports. If you keep fighting without losing hope, you will eventually win,” he advised the students.

Sri Madhu Bangarappa, Minister for School Education, Literacy, and Sakaala, inaugurated the sports meet. In his address, he praised Sri Suttur Math for its commendable contributions to education, culture, and sports. “The efforts of this institution in shaping students into responsible citizens make the Education Department of Karnataka proud,” he said, wishing success to all participants in the meet.

Sri Pushparaj Hegde, an international weightlifter, participated as the chief guest. “Sports teach us discipline and how to live our lives. Dedicate at least 30 minutes every day to physical activities to maintain good health,” he advised. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports and other physical activities for a happy and disciplined life. “Make efforts, achieve, and bring laurels to the country,” he added.

Dr. Pushpalatha Maankala, Trustee of Murudeshwara Beena Doctors Education Institute and Director of Administration, observed that “Maths are the roots of our society, guiding us in rectifying societal mistakes. Education instills respect for elders and culture within us. Students today have ample opportunities, and they should set specific goals and strive to achieve them. As human beings, we should leave a mark with our accomplishments before we pass,” she remarked, encouraging youth to remain active and goal-oriented.

State-level athlete Pavan U.D. from JSS High School, Suttur, and Sri H.C. Umesh, a Physical Education Instructor, took the oath on behalf of students and sports teachers.

The event saw an impressive guard of honor and parade by participating teams from 134 JSS Educational Institutions, with 3,218 students competing in various sports over three days. A breathtaking Mallakhamba performance by students of the JSS Free Residential School, Suttur, captivated the audience.

The program began with an invocation by school students, followed by a warm welcome from Sri Lokeshappa. Sri H.S. Gangadharaswamy delivered the vote of thanks, and Sri D.M. Siddalingaswamy served as the program’s master of ceremonies. Present at the event were Sri Jayarajendra Swamiji, JSS Mahavidyapeeta Secretary Sri S.P. Manjunath, Sri S. Shivakumaraswamy, and heads of various departments.

Preparations Begin for 38th Punyaradhane and Suttur Jatra Mahotsav

Bhoomipuja of the mantapas for the Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji Jatra Mahotsav, commemorating the 38th Punya Smarane of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswami, was held on Friday, December 6, at Sri Sutturkshetra. The ceremony took place in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, with Haraguru Charamurthy, Heads of JSS Institutions, and others in attendance.

Suttur, December 12, 2024: The 38th Punyaradhane of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji was observed with devotion and grandeur at Sri Sutturkshetra. Special poojas, Rudrabhisheka, Ashtottara, and other rituals were performed at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

As part of the observance, the Bhoomipooja of the mantapas for the upcoming Jatra Mahotsava of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji, scheduled to be held from January 26 to 31, 2025, was also conducted with great reverence.

A preparatory meeting for the Jatra Mahotsava was held with the participation of villagers from surrounding areas and esteemed seers from various mathas, including Vatalu, Alamatti, Kuderu Shankaramath, Bettadapura, Neelakantaswamy Math, Ramapura, Dandikere, Harave, Chikkatuppuru, Huliyurudurga, Chunchahalli, Naviluru, Kuderu, Kunduru, Paduguru, Honnalagere, Nanjangud, Maadalli, Ragibommanahalli, Kesavatturu Math, and Haraguru Charamurthy. Office-bearers of the Srimath and a large number of devotees also actively participated.

The meeting paid heartfelt condolences to the late Jatra Mahotsava committee members, Sri Siddalingappa of Alatturu Gowda and Sri Kumarappa of Jeemarahalli, for their contributions to the festivities.

The event began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Subbappa, followed by a vote of thanks from Sri C.V. Basavaraju. The program was compered by Sri H.L. Prakash, with an invocation rendered by the students.
