Health checkup camp conducted for inmates of Senior Citizens’ Home in Suttur

A health checkup and awareness camp was organized for the inmates of the Senior Citizens’ Home at Suttur. JSS Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Devarajmurthy, Dentist Dr. Poornima, and team conducted the camp and gave several healthcare tips to the inmates.

Use your skills and become successful entrepreneurs: Sri S. Jagannath

Mysuru, June 28, 2022: “There are ample opportunities for today’s youth to utilize their skills and become successful entrepreneurs. Degree and post-graduate degree holders should develop innovative skills and aim to become entrepreneurs,” observed Sri C. Jagannath, District Skill Development Officer, Mysuru.

He inaugurated a five-day workshop on the topic, “Nano Enterprises and Skill Development,” organized by the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, under the auspices of the start-up and IQAC.

In his address, he said, “students should focus more on developing skills keeping in mind the developments happening in the technology and market sectors across the world. Students require multidisciplinary knowledge to understand the requirements and develop the required skills. You can also achieve personal growth by utilizing the various opportunities that are made available to you by the Central and State Governments. Try to understand your capacities, weaknesses, opportunities, and problems before becoming entrepreneur. This way you can emerge as successful entrepreneurs in the sector in which you have skills,” he explained.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, presided over the program. In his address, he explained the significance of entrepreneurship, and skill development and training programs. “More than 50% of the youth population of our country require to identify their area of strength and select the right career. More youth should think of commencing start-ups or becoming entrepreneurs. For that, you should also be aware of the challenges and dangers. Continuous research, knowledge of evaluation, resource development required for the enterprise, and proper management will lead you towards success,” he observed.

Dr. R.N. Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Spoorthi Performance Solutions, Mysuru, and Dr. M.P. Vijayendra Kumar, Principal of the College, were present. Kum. Sushmita rendered an invocation, and Dr. Sindhu welcomed the guests and gathering. Dr. M. Mahadevaswamy mastered the program, and Dr. Rajesh gave a vote of thanks.

The concentration of the mind is essential to attain divinity: Pujya Sri Siddeshwara Mahaswamiji

Suttur, June 26, 2022: “Concentrate your mind in nature every day to attain divinity in your soul,” observed Nirabhara Charmuthy Pujya Sri Siddeshwara Mahaswamiji, of the Jnanayogashrama, Vijayapura.

In his discourse, he said, “Nature is incomparable and serene. All the things in nature, like plants, trees, hills, mountains, flowers, etc., are beautiful. The sharanas, saints, and rishis are all like beautiful flowers. Their words, thoughts, and messages are wonderful,” he said.

Reciting Allamaprabhu’s vachana, “Nela Holadali, Yelli Nodidaralli Neeniddeyayya Guheshwara, Nimmannu Agalakke Aridu Kande,” he said, divinity can be attained from anywhere in the nature, including mountains, caves, places, open fields, etc. “Where there is the beauty of nature there will be happiness. There can’t be even a single life on this earth which hates nature. Because everything comes from nature. Our heart jumps in joy when birds sing, our knowledge will glow with sunrise. All this happens because we are connected to the nature. We can’t survive without it. All that we have today is the gift of nature. God exists in everything in nature. We can attain divinity from a serene atmosphere and beauty of the nature. Thus, nature is a glorious spirit for everything on this earth. Our hearts should be full of divinity. We can attain divinity when our heart and soul will be pure,” he observed.

Mysuru, June 24, 2022: The students of the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, have secured first place in the University of Mysore 2021-22 Chamundi Zonal Inter-College Men’s Throwball Tournament, held at the Hindustan First Grade College, Mysuru, and have been selected to the University of Mysore Inter-Zonal Throwball Tournament.

A culturally sound mind with an athletic body is easy to mold: Prof. M. Krishne Gowda

Mysuru, June 16, 2022: The definition of education is ‘to go beyond the curriculum,’ observed Prof. M. Krishnegowda, Principal (Retd.), St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru.

He inaugurated the UG Cultural and Sports Forum held on June 15, 2022, at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru.

“Nowadays, education is limited to intellectual activities. But skills are more important to survive in life. You will become special when you have determination,” he said.

“As Matthew Arnold says, ‘Pursuit of Perfection’ should be the motto of the students, and you should tune your skills to become perfect. Choose friends who are intelligent and culturally active. Sports will keep your mind and body active. Train your mind to achieve all your aspirations in your life,” he added.

Presiding over the function Prof. R. Mugeshappa, Director, College Education, JSS MVP, Mysuru, said that life without a goal and a teacher is not valued. “A student should be a dreamer to achieve his goal. skills are required for the realization of your dreams. Choose an area of your interest, rather than following others blindly,” he advised.

Earlier, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, addressed the students. He said that the skills of the students are more valued than their grades. “In this competitive world, a person without skills cannot survive. The National Education Policy has introduced yoga, scouts & guides, sports, and other activities in the curriculum to your improvise skills. Sports will help you in developing confidence, team spirit, discipline, and good health,” he said. He gave the examples of Rajnikanth, Dhirubhai Ambani, Akshay Kumar, Sachin Tendulkar, Albert Einstein, and others who became hugely successful in their lives through their sheer hard work and determination.

Ms. Nirmitha, III BSc student welcomed and introduced the guests. Mr. Punith of III BCom proposed a vote of thanks, and Ms. Sushmitha and Dumbishree of 1st B.Voc. rendered an invocation. Ms. Madhura S. Patil, of III BSc, mastered the program.
