Cluster-level Educational Exhibition

Suttur, December 26, 2022: A cluster-level educational exhibition was conducted at the JSS High School, in Suttur, as part of the Suttur Jatra Mahotsav.

Cluster schools in Suttur, Hallikerehundi, Hullahalli, Mahadevanagara, and Nanjangud Girls High School took part in the exhibition, where 129 various models prepared by the students were demonstrated.

Prof. Sadashivamurthy, Prof. Mallappa, Sri Mariswamy, Prof. Siddaramaiah, Prof. Vijay Manjunathaguru, Prof. Kempannaswamy, and Sri Nagarajachar participated as the judges.

JSS MVP Education Officers Sri N. Renukaswamy, Subject Inspector Sri S.C. Channabasappa, Assistant Coordinating Officer Sri Veerabhadraiah, and school Headmasters, cluster high school students, and guides took part in the program.

Farmers Day – 2022

Suttur, December 26, 2022: The Command Area Development Authority (CADA), Mysuru, Cauvery Basin Projects, Mysuru, Deparment of Veterinary Sciences, Mysuru, and the Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, Hassan, in association with the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, had organized the Farmers Day, at the JSS KVK, in Suttur, on December 23, 2022.

In her address, Chief Guest Smt. H.T. Chandrakala, Joint Director, CADA, Mysuru, advised the farmers not to depend upon just one variety of crop and instead adopt integrated farming method, and become financially stable.

In his addres. Dr. B.N. Shadaksharamurthy, Deputy Director, Department of Veterinary Sciences, Mysuru, expressed his view that animal husbandry is a part of farmers lives. “We just cannot imagine the lives of farmers without livestock. Hence, it is important for them to develop interest in animal husbandry and dairy farming, along with agriculture. Diseases among the livestock can be prevented if the places where they are kept is maintained cleanly,” he said. He also informed that 340 cattle which were suffering from infertility disease in Tummanerale Village in Nanjangud Taluk were treated and medicines were distributed free of cost.

Sri Omkarmurthy, Sales Officer, Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, Hassan, informed that the price of 45 kgs fertilizer bag costs Rs. 2,340, whereas it costs the farmers just Rs. 280 after deducting the Rs.2,060 govenrment subsidy amount. He advised the farmers to use fertilizers based on the soil examination report in order to protect the soil fertility.

Sri N.Y. Chigari, Chairman of the Rotary Srigandha Institute, Mysuru, expressed his view that the farmers work under different dimensions. “Farmers have to prepare the land before growing crop, plan which crop to grow, what time fertilizers and pesticides should be used, etc. After growing the crop with great difficulty and at the time of selling he has to calculate at what price he should sell to get profit. In a way farmers are also equal to IAS officers, which means Indian Agriculture Service. Either he gets profit are incurs loss he is striving to feed all of us. Therefore all of us should respect the farmers,” he observed.

Presiding over the program Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Incharge Head of the ICAR JSS KVK informed that every year the ‘Farmer’s Day’ is observed on December 23, in commemmoration of India’s fifth Prime Minister Chowdhary Charan Singh. “Agriculture contributes 20% out of the total GDP of our country. Farmers should adopt new and modern technology in farming and gain more profits,” she said and also advised the farmers to reduce the dependence on fertilizers and instead use Nano urea.

Sri S. Mahadevu, Member, Sugarcane Board, Sri Nagarajappa, Deputy Director, Horticulture Department and Dr. Nikhith, Veterinarian were present.

Farmers, Sri Narayan Rao Shinde, of Hulyalu Village, Hunsur Taluk and Sri Chinnabuddhi, of Danayakanapura, T. Narasipur Taluk and Sri Sundarswamy of Bannahallihundi were felicitated on the occasion.

Sri J.G. Ramanna welcomed and Sri Shamraj mastered the program.

Jagadguru Sri Shivarthreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji’s 1063rd Jayanthi Mahotsav on December 22

Suttur, December 20, 2022: Founder of Srimath Suttur Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math’s founder, His Holiness Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji’s 1063rd Jayanthi Mahotsav will be held on December 22, Thursday, at Suttur, in the divine presence of His Holiness Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji and pontiffs of several other maths.

Rudrabhisheka, Sahasranamavali, Shivashtottara, Shivarthreeshwara Ashtottara, etc., special pooja programs will be held at the Shrine of His Holiness Shivayogi Mahaswamiji in Suttur. The programs will commence at 3.00 am. Shodashopachara to the Adjijagadguru’s Silver Utsav idol will also be conducted.

Mahamangalarathi will be held at 8.00 am. After that, the Utsava idol (procession idol) will be brought to the Srimath in a procession in a chariot at 9.30 am. The procession will pass through the thoroughfares of the village before reaching the Srimath.

The music teachers and students of the JSS Residential School, Suttur, will present a music program at 10.00 am. Award-winning dignitaries will be felicitated at 10.30 am.

The 2023 ‘Suttur Sri Shivarathreeshwara Almanac’ prepared by renowned Astrologer and scholar Dr. K.G. Puttahonnaiah, and published by the Bharatiya Jyotirvignana Samshodana Kendra, and Kannada and English wall calendars and pocket calendar published by the Sri Suttur Math and JSS Mahavidyapeetha will be released.

Those who intend to have Shivadeekshe-Lingadeekshe are requested to register their names at the Srikshetra Suttur before December 21, Wednesday.

Devotees and the public are requested to participate in large numbers and have the blessings of the revered Swamiji.

Students should acquire multi-tasking skills to get priority in jobs: Mr. Utsav Agarwal

Mysuru, December 19, 2022: “Apart from graduation, students should also acquire multi-tasking skills to get priority in jobs. They should also be clear and transparent in conveying their thoughts. Also, teachers should pledge to provide value-based and skill-based education,” observed Mr. Utsav Agarwal, Director, Boruka Fabcons Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Utsav Agarwal participated in the ‘Industry-Institute Interaction and Students Skill Development program’ held at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, in association with the Confederation of Indian Industries – Industry Institute Interaction Panel (CII-III), Mysuru Zone, on December 17, 2022.

Addressing the students after inaugurating the program, Mr. Utsav Agarwal stressed the scope of Indian students in improving the world economy in the next ten years. He called upon the students to develop a positive mindset, work hard, convert ideas into action, and acquire the required skills and keep updating them. He opined that developing the qualities of having personal branding would help in grabbing opportunities.

Mr. Santosh Gundapi, Managing Director, AT & S India Pvt. Ltd., Mysuru, delivered the keynote address. He advised the students to identify their areas of interest before opting for a course. He felt the necessity of obtaining education with a good attitude, developing creativity, and having a passion for learning. He suggested the students be bold and self-confident. “Try to understand the recruitment and interview process and functioning of the industry and apply for jobs as per your skills,” he said. He also emphasized the need for MoUs between Industry and Educational institutions.

Prof. B. V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, in his presidential remarks, advised the students to participate in such interaction programs and utilize its benefits. He also explained the initiatives of the Central and State Governments’ to enhance the skills of graduates.

Principal Prof. M. P. Vijayendra Kumar welcomed the guests, dignitaries, and the gathering.

Earlier, the program commenced with an invocation by Ms. Radhika Hardikar. The IQAC Coordinator, Dr. N. Rajendra Prasad, proposed a vote of thanks, and Placement Officer, Dr. Prakash, hosted the program.

Fifty teachers and 500 students participated in the interaction program.

Agriculture Field Day: Red Rice Paddy variety – KMP 220 as alternative to Jyothi variety

Suttur, December 16, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, in association with the Agriculture Department, ATM, T. Narasipur had organized Red Rice Paddy new variety ‘KMP-220 Agriculture Field Day,’ at the Danayakanapura Village, in T. Narasipur Taluk, in the presence of Sri Dr. Shivalinga Shivacharya Swamiji of the Vatalu Suryasimhasana Math.

Inaugurating the program, Dr. Shivalinga Swamiji lauded the services provided by the ICAR JSS KVK. “The JSS KVK is helping the farmers by developing new and better varieties and guiding them to get more yield. The relationship between the KVK scientists and the farmers is also cordial,” he said.

In her address, JSS KVK Incharge Head and Senior Scientist Smt. H.V. Divya said, “the farmers of this region are growing Jyothi variety paddy much. However, as it is disease prone, yield is also less. Hence, they were expecting an alternative to that variety. The Agriculture University, Bengaluru, has now released KMP 220 variety as an alternative to the Jyothi variety. The new variety was distributed among ten farmers from the JSS KVK. It has given better yield and lesser disease prone. Expenses is also less, and farmers can get more profit.” She advised the farmers to select good spikes of the crop and use it for next seed sowing.

Farmers Somanna, D.L. Mahadevappa and Revanna, in whose agricultural fields the new variety was experimented, informed that the new variety is lesser prone to diseases and gave two times more yield than the earlier Jyothi variety. They informed they yielded 24 to 26 quintals of cereals from one acre. They also said that the new variety is more apt for drum sowing.

Sri Venkatesh, SBI Financial Literacy Expert, informed the farmers about the various facilities and insurance options available to them from the bank.

Sri Rajanna of the ATMA program mastered the program. Smt. Vijayalakshmi, Agricultural Officer, JSS KVK, progressive farmers Chinnabuddhi, Puttanna and others were present. More than 100 farmers took part in the program. They shared their views that the cereals obtained from the new variety appears like the earlier Jyothi variety and opined that the height of the grown crop should have been a little lesser. They also expressed their happiness, informing that it gives better yield.

Dharnumasa special puja at Suttur Srikshetra

Suttur, December 14, 2022: Special pujas will be held at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, and Sri Veerabhadreshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Mahadeshwara and Sri Narayanaswamy temples at Suttur Srikshetra every day till the end of Dharnumasa (from December 16, 2022 to January 14, 2023).

Devotees are requested to take part in large numbers and have the blessings of the almighty.

JSS Inter-Institutions Sports Meet: JSS PU College students bag first prize

Mysuru, December 13, 2022: The boys Volleyball team of the JSS PU College, Ooty Road, Mysuru, bagged the first prize in the JSS Inter-Institutions Sports meet held at Suttur, held in commemoration of His Holiness Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji.

The same team had also secured first place in the district-level volleyball tournament organized by the Vidyavardhaka Educational Society, in Mysuru recently.
