Mysuru, November 18, 2021: The JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, hosted a play by Rangayana titled ‘Sootradaara,’ for the students of the College.

Sri Addanda C. Cariappa, Director, Rangayana, participated in an interaction program with the students of the JSS College after the play. As per the directions of the State Government, Rangayana is organizing the play ‘Sootradaara’ at several places. This play is based on the Indian Constitution. In his presidential address, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive, JSS College, observed, “Theater is one of the effective mediums in reaching out to the people. The effort of educating the objectives of the constitution to the people and the students through this is appreciable. The play titled ‘Sootradara,’ along with presenting the objectives of the constitution also depicts post-independent India’s situation. The objective of presenting the play is to create thoughtful awareness among everyone about our constitution. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s constitution says all are equal. All of us should strive to build an equal society to make the exhibition of such plays meaningful. Depicting the objectives of the constitution through acting is not an easy task. However, the Rangayana artists have successfully presented the play very effectively. I wish this play finds more platforms.”

In his address, the writer of the play, Sri S. Ramnath said, “Reaching out the excellence of our constitution to today’s generation is an important task. Today the right of expression is misused. The real objectives of the constitution are not perceived properly. Many people do not even know the objective behind the fundamental rights and duties. Democracy can become stronger only when everyone understands it properly. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar has given prominence to it in the constitution considering the seriousness of its need. This play ‘Sootradaara’ is written in this background,” he explained.

Prof. H.C. Honnappa, Principal, welcomed. Dr. B.S. Sudeep, Head, Dept. of PG in Kannada, mastered the ceremony and gave a vote of thanks. More than 1,000 students watched the play and participated in the interaction program.
