The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of women in agricultural activities, explore their roles beyond the kitchen, and address issues related to respect, dignity, and rights in the agricultural sector.

He highlighted that women’s participation in agriculture reaches up to 90% in several countries, including our own. However, he expressed concern over the lack of respect and recognition they receive. He pointed out disparities in wages between men and women and the absence of women’s names in any RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops). Dr. Balamatti urged society and the government to address these issues seriously, engage in thorough discussions, and take suitable action.

Smt. Divya, Scientist from JSS KVK, spoke about the importance of kitchen gardens and encouraged farmers to cultivate chemical-free vegetables in their backyards.
