Suttur, August 16, 2022: The JSS Residential School in Suttur commemorated the 75th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervor.

The tricolour was hoisted by Sri S.P. Udayashankar, Administrative Officer of JSS Institutions, signifying the start of the celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Sri P. Shivaraju, Additional Commissioner of the Office of the Regional Commissioner, Mysuru, served as the chief guest and shared his thoughts on the significance of the term ‘Amrutha,’ which symbolizes immortality. He emphasized that India is not merely a country but a diverse melting pot. Sri Shivaraju emphasized that independence does not grant the freedom to act without responsibility, and every citizen plays a vital role in nation-building. He reminded everyone to honor the sacrifices made by thousands of freedom fighters who fought for India’s independence. He also highlighted the special importance of the 75th Independence Day and the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign initiated by the Government of India, urging every household to hoist the national flag. He commended the JSS Residential School in Suttur for embodying the spirit of India, with students from various states across the country studying together, creating a mini Bharat within its walls.

Distinguished heads of various departments of the school, including Sri G. L. Tripurantaka, Sri Sampath, Sri Veerabhadraiah, Dr. H.M. Mahesh, Sri S. Shivaswamy, Sri G. Shivamallu, Sri M.G. Basavanna, Smt. C.P. Niramala, Sri G.M. Shadakshari, Sri Mahadevaprasad, Smt. Susheela, and others, graced the occasion with their presence.

The students engaged in a debate on the significance of Independence Day celebrations in Sanskrit, Kannada, English, and Hindi languages, showcasing their linguistic skills and understanding.

NCC air force, army cadets, scouts and guides, and the school band teams showcased a colorful parade and presented a guard of honor to the chief guest.

The program also featured various cultural performances and a mesmerizing Mallakambh demonstration, adding vibrancy to the celebration.

The event commenced with an invocation by the students of the school, followed by a warm welcome by Sri S. Chandramouleshwara. Sri M. Rajashekarmurthy extended a vote of thanks, and Sri Andaiah Shirurumath skillfully managed the program.

Mysuru, August 13, 2022: Vidwan T.N. Prabhakar, Chairperson of Dakshin Kannada Region, Samskrutha Bharati, expressed that Sanskrit language is not only cherished by Indians but also garners significant interest from foreigners who are keen on learning it.

He shared his observations during the ‘Samskruthotsava’ program held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science on Ooty Road, Mysuru. Inaugurating the event, Vidwan Prabhakar recalled an incident involving Indian scientist Dr. Gupta and world-renowned scientist Einstein. Surprisingly, Einstein warmly welcomed Dr. Gupta in Sanskrit, sparking Dr. Gupta’s curiosity to learn the language. Furthermore, Vidwan Prabhakar recounted an anecdote about Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, who, during a foreign visit, was introduced as the ‘King of Mysore’ to the locals. To his astonishment, the people inquired if he was from Shyamashastri of Mysore. The encounter revealed that Shyamashastri, known for translating an economics textbook into English, had gained recognition even among foreigners. These instances highlight the interest and admiration foreigners have for Sanskrit, urging everyone to embrace the language.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, presided over the program. In his address, he emphasized that Sanskrit is a comprehensive and ancient language with a vast repository of literature. Sanskrit’s influence can be observed in numerous languages worldwide, including several vernacular languages in India. Prof. Sambashivaiah highlighted the significant impact of Sanskrit on Kannada literature, from Pampa to Kuvempu. Despite Sanskrit’s declining prominence as a spoken language, efforts are being made to preserve and develop it. He called upon everyone to contribute to its protection and growth.

The program was attended by Prof. M.P. Vijayendrakumar, Principal of JSS Degree College, and Sri S. Somashekar, Principal of JSS PU College. The event commenced with an invocation by Sri Guruprasad. Assistant Professor Vidwan K. Srinidhi extended a warm welcome, while Assistant Professor Dr. Komala delivered the vote of thanks. Kumari Prerana and Tushar skillfully managed the program.

Suttur, August 12, 2022: The students of JSS Higher Primary School have won the overall prize in the sports tournament organized by the Education and Literacy Department, in association with the Sri Gurumahanteswhara English Medium School, held at the S. Hoskote Village in Nanjangud Taluk.

The boys of the school have won first prize in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Throwball, Volleyball, and the girls emerged first in Kho-Kho, and second in Volleyball and Throwball events.

Athletics: Boys – Yashwanth has emerged as the individual champion by securing first place in high jump, discuss throw and shot put.

Karan (1st place) in 600 m running, 200 m; Pawan Kumar (2nd) in 100 m; Tarun (2nd) in 400 m; Likhit H.N. (1st) in long jump, Yashwanth and team (1st place) in 4×100 m relay.

Girls: Sakshi (1st place) in 100 m running; SAnjith Abena (1st) in 200 m and high jump; Deepkia (1st) in 200 m, and (1st) in long jump; Tanmayi (1st) in shot put, (2nd) in Discuss throw; Sanjana (2nd) in 400 m; Sakshi and team (1st place) in 4×100 m relay.

In Athletics girls category – Deepika (1st place) in 600 m and (1st) in long jump, individual champion.

The Graduation Day of JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing, Dharwad was held on 11th August 2022 with the blessings of HH Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. The Chief Guest was Prof. K B Gudasi, Vice-Chancellor, Karnatak University and the event was presided by Dr C.G. Betsurmath. Dr B. Rajashekar, Former, Manipal College of Health Professionals, and Sri R. Mahesh, Director, JSSMVP were present.

Suttur, August 4, 2022: Sri Yogendra Upadhyaya, the Minister for Higher Education and Science and Information Technology in Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the significance of culture in education during his visit to the JSS Residential School at Suttur Srimath.

In his address to the students, Sri Upadhyaya emphasized that culture holds a vital place in the realm of education, echoing the principles outlined in the National Education Policy – 2020. He urged everyone to recognize their responsibilities and prioritize becoming exemplary citizens of the nation.

Recognizing Suttur Srimath as both a religious and educational institution, Sri Upadhyaya commended its inclusive nature, stating, “This center welcomes students from Karnataka, neighboring states, and even students hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Meghalaya, Manipur, and other North Eastern states, irrespective of caste and creed. The generosity and tolerance demonstrated by Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji towards all religions are commendable. Suttur Srimath serves society by nurturing responsible citizens for our country. During his visit, Sri Upadhyaya also had an interactive session with the students, allowing for a meaningful exchange of ideas and perspectives.

The Minister was felicitated by Sri S.P. Udayashankar, the Administrative Officer of the institution, along with esteemed family members. Heads of various departments within the institution were also present, witnessing the event.
