75th Independence Day Celebrations – Amrutha Mahotsav at JSS School, Suttur

Suttur, August 16, 2022: The JSS Residential School in Suttur commemorated the 75th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervor.

The tricolour was hoisted by Sri S.P. Udayashankar, Administrative Officer of JSS Institutions, signifying the start of the celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Sri P. Shivaraju, Additional Commissioner of the Office of the Regional Commissioner, Mysuru, served as the chief guest and shared his thoughts on the significance of the term ‘Amrutha,’ which symbolizes immortality. He emphasized that India is not merely a country but a diverse melting pot. Sri Shivaraju emphasized that independence does not grant the freedom to act without responsibility, and every citizen plays a vital role in nation-building. He reminded everyone to honor the sacrifices made by thousands of freedom fighters who fought for India’s independence. He also highlighted the special importance of the 75th Independence Day and the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign initiated by the Government of India, urging every household to hoist the national flag. He commended the JSS Residential School in Suttur for embodying the spirit of India, with students from various states across the country studying together, creating a mini Bharat within its walls.

Distinguished heads of various departments of the school, including Sri G. L. Tripurantaka, Sri Sampath, Sri Veerabhadraiah, Dr. H.M. Mahesh, Sri S. Shivaswamy, Sri G. Shivamallu, Sri M.G. Basavanna, Smt. C.P. Niramala, Sri G.M. Shadakshari, Sri Mahadevaprasad, Smt. Susheela, and others, graced the occasion with their presence.

The students engaged in a debate on the significance of Independence Day celebrations in Sanskrit, Kannada, English, and Hindi languages, showcasing their linguistic skills and understanding.

NCC air force, army cadets, scouts and guides, and the school band teams showcased a colorful parade and presented a guard of honor to the chief guest.

The program also featured various cultural performances and a mesmerizing Mallakambh demonstration, adding vibrancy to the celebration.

The event commenced with an invocation by the students of the school, followed by a warm welcome by Sri S. Chandramouleshwara. Sri M. Rajashekarmurthy extended a vote of thanks, and Sri Andaiah Shirurumath skillfully managed the program.
