Children’s Day Celebrations at JSS Ayurveda Hospital

Mysuru, November 16, 2022: The Department of PG Studies in Kaumarabhritya, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru, organized a vibrant program in celebration of Children’s Day on November 14. As part of the festivities, a free medical checkup camp was conducted, benefiting the students of KRP Government School, Mysuru. A total of 40 children from 1st to 7th standards received comprehensive medical checkups at no cost.

The camp took place within the premises of JSS Ayurveda Hospital and was graced by the presence of Dr. Srihari S., Professor and Head of the Department of Kaumarabhritya, and Dr. Shashibindhu, NSS Coordinator of the college. Postgraduates and interns actively participated in the event. The dedicated medical team performed thorough checkups for the children, providing valuable advice on various health and hygiene aspects. The children were also given tips on maintaining their overall well-being.

To promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, various games and activities were organized, allowing the children to engage in both outdoor and indoor fun. The vibrant atmosphere created a wonderful opportunity for the children to socialize and enjoy themselves. The events were conducted by Dr. Jyothy K.B., Professor, along with Dr. Visal S. Kumar and Dr. Preethi H.M., Assistant Professors from the Department of Kaumarabhritya.

During the celebrations, prizes were distributed by Dr. Sarbeshwar Kar, the esteemed Principal of the college, to the winners of various competitions. Dr. Kar emphasized the significance of Children’s Day and provided insights into the rich lineage of Suttur Shri Guru Parampara. Chethana Medicaments from Kerala graciously sponsored gifts for the competition winners, adding to the joyous occasion.

The Children’s Day celebrations at JSS Ayurveda Hospital not only provided essential healthcare support but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and well-being among the children.

Kannada Rajyotsava and Children’s Day Celebrations at JSS Residential School, Suttur

Suttur, November 14, 2022: The JSS Educational Institution, Suttur, commemorated Kannada Rajyotsava and Children’s Day with a program filled with cultural significance and celebration.

Dr. Bheemaraju Eeregowda, Assistant Professor at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research Academy, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of Kannada Rajyotsava, which is observed every year on November 1 to honor the contributions of individuals who have dedicated themselves to the welfare of Karnataka and the Kannada language. He described the language as sweet and easily accessible for learners, comparing it to the simplicity of peeling a banana or enjoying peeled sugarcane. Dr. Eeregowda emphasized the need to embrace the positive aspects of other languages while nurturing and developing Kannada. He urged everyone to cultivate a deep love for the language and strive to preserve its essence.

Senior advocate Sri D.B. Rajashekaramurthy, another distinguished guest, emphasized the rich history of the Kannada language, spanning over two centuries. He encouraged educators to prioritize the identification and promotion of students’ creativity and skills instead of solely focusing on academic performance.

During the event, meritorious students who achieved the highest marks in the 2021-22 SSLC exams were honored with cash prizes by the teachers. The Heads of various departments of the school, including Sri G.L. Tripurantaka, Sri Sampath, Sri G. Shivamallu, Sri M.G. Basavanna, Smt. C.P. Nirmala, Sri G.M. Shadakshari, Smt. P. Susheela, Sri Mahadevaprasad, and others, were also present to grace the occasion.

The program commenced with an invocation by the students, followed by a warm welcome by Smt. K.S. Mamatha. Smt. P. Roopa expressed gratitude in a vote of thanks, and Smt. Kavyashri expertly managed the program.

The Kannada Rajyotsava and Children’s Day celebrations at JSS Residential School were a joyous occasion, recognizing the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka and honoring the accomplishments of the students.

Online Training Program on Terrace Gardening Conducted by ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur

Suttur, November 8, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, organized a highly informative online training program focused on Terrace Gardening. The session aimed to empower participants with knowledge about balanced food groups, the significance of fruits and vegetables, the adverse effects of excessive chemical and pesticide usage in crop cultivation, the advantages of kitchen and terrace gardening, various methods of terrace gardening, availability of seeds and plants, essential implements, terrace gardening mapping, types of greens, vegetables, and fruits suitable for cultivation, medicinal plants, their nutrients and uses, and their integration into daily diets.

The training program featured Smt. Netravathi Ettinamani, Home Scientist at JSS KVK, who served as the key resource person. Smt. Ettinamani provided comprehensive guidance to the participants, sharing valuable insights on organic manure preparation, fertilizer creation in pots, soil and fertilizer mixtures, nutrient management, Anaerobic Composting, disease and pest prevention, utilization of traditional knowledge, and the preparation of various decoctions to prevent diseases and pests, such as Beejamrutha and Jeevamrutha. Her expertise empowered attendees to apply these techniques effectively.

Smt. Divya H.V., Senior Scientist and Incharge Head of the ICAR JSS KVK, also actively participated as a resource person. She shared practical knowledge on nutrient-rich soil preparation, fertilizer composition, and the correct usage of organic methods. Her guidance provided participants with sustainable approaches to enhance their terrace gardening practices.

The online training program witnessed the participation of around 30 individuals eager to expand their knowledge and skills in terrace gardening.

Selected for State-level

Shanthakumar Hoogar, a 10th Standard student of the JSS High School, Suttur, participated in the District-level Vachana Recital competition organized by the Sri Guruputtaraja Sangeetha Sabha and has won. He has been selected to take part in the District-level competitions. Heads of various department of the school and teaching staff have congratulated him.

“The Kannada language is not just a tool of communication, it’s an emotional bonding,” says Prof. M. Shankar

Mysuru, November 2, 2022: Prof. M. Shankar, Principal of Hema Gangotri PG Center, Hassan, highlighted the significance of the Kannada language as a symbol of cultural strength. Speaking at the 67th Kannada Rajyotsava program held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science in Mysuru, Prof. Shankar emphasized that Kannada is more than a means of communication; it is an emotional connection and a part of our ancestral heritage. He urged everyone to prioritize the use of Kannada in their daily lives, emphasizing the importance of nurturing our mother tongue.

As the chief guest, Prof. Shankar hoisted the Karnataka State Flag during the event. In his address, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, highlighted Karnataka’s rich literary history and the role of various institutions and individuals in preserving and promoting the Kannada language. He emphasized the need for technological advancements to make Kannada more adaptable and employment-oriented. Prof. Sambashivaiah encouraged a holistic approach to Kannada, encompassing not only language but also the preservation of natural resources, culture, traditions, and ways of thinking.

The program commenced with an invocation and a rendition of the farmer anthem by Kannada research students. Prof. M.P. Vijayendrakumar, Principal of the Degree College, welcomed the gathering, and Sri S.M. Dastikoppa, a professor from the PU College Commerce Department, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. B.S. Sudeep, Head of the Kannada PG Department, served as the program’s master of ceremonies.

The event saw the presence of teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students, who participated in celebrating and honoring the Kannada language.
