“The Kannada language is not just a tool of communication, it’s an emotional bonding,” says Prof. M. Shankar

Mysuru, November 2, 2022: Prof. M. Shankar, Principal of Hema Gangotri PG Center, Hassan, highlighted the significance of the Kannada language as a symbol of cultural strength. Speaking at the 67th Kannada Rajyotsava program held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science in Mysuru, Prof. Shankar emphasized that Kannada is more than a means of communication; it is an emotional connection and a part of our ancestral heritage. He urged everyone to prioritize the use of Kannada in their daily lives, emphasizing the importance of nurturing our mother tongue.

As the chief guest, Prof. Shankar hoisted the Karnataka State Flag during the event. In his address, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, highlighted Karnataka’s rich literary history and the role of various institutions and individuals in preserving and promoting the Kannada language. He emphasized the need for technological advancements to make Kannada more adaptable and employment-oriented. Prof. Sambashivaiah encouraged a holistic approach to Kannada, encompassing not only language but also the preservation of natural resources, culture, traditions, and ways of thinking.

The program commenced with an invocation and a rendition of the farmer anthem by Kannada research students. Prof. M.P. Vijayendrakumar, Principal of the Degree College, welcomed the gathering, and Sri S.M. Dastikoppa, a professor from the PU College Commerce Department, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. B.S. Sudeep, Head of the Kannada PG Department, served as the program’s master of ceremonies.

The event saw the presence of teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students, who participated in celebrating and honoring the Kannada language.
