JSS Residential School, Suttur, Celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava with ‘Kannadakkagi Navu’ and ‘Maatad Maatad Kannada’ Programs

Suttur, October 28, 2021: The JSS Residential School in Suttur proudly joined the ‘Kannadakkagi Navu’ campaign and ‘Maatad Maatad Kannada’ program, organized by the Government of Karnataka, to commemorate the Kannada Rajyotsava. On Thursday, October 28, 2021, the school organized a special program in celebration of the occasion. The event brought together all the students in front of the school to showcase their love for the Kannada language.

Under the guidance of the coordinating officer, along with the Headmasters and teachers, the students enthusiastically participated in the program. The highlight of the event was the collective singing of three Kannada songs by the students. The harmonious melodies resonated through the school premises, showcasing the students’ commitment to preserving and promoting their mother tongue.

The program aimed to instill a sense of pride and love for the Kannada language among the students, aligning with the overarching goal of the ‘Kannadakkagi Navu’ campaign and ‘Maatad Maatad Kannada’ program. By actively engaging in this initiative, the JSS Residential School demonstrated its dedication to preserving the cultural heritage and linguistic diversity of Karnataka.

“Absence of Values in Life is Leading to an Increase in Crime”: Sri H.M. Virupakashaiah

Mysuru, October 26, 2021: Sri H.M. Virupakashaiah, Hon’ble Judge of the Mysuru Family Court, emphasized the crucial need for value-based education in society during a lecture program on the Right to Information Act. The event was organized as part of the Legal Awareness program by the NSS (National Service Scheme) at JSS College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, located on Ooty Road, Mysuru. Sri Virupakashaiah highlighted the absence of values as a contributing factor to the rising trend of criminal activities.

Addressing the audience, Sri Virupakashaiah stressed that literacy alone does not guarantee a humane and compassionate society. He emphasized the significance of imparting value-based education, particularly within institutions like JSS, which are known for providing cultured education. Sri Virupakashaiah applauded the efforts of JSS Institutions in instilling values and shaping the character of students.

Encouraging students to familiarize themselves with the three pillars of democracy – the Executive, Judiciary, and Legislature – Sri Virupakashaiah explained the objective of organizing legal awareness programs. He emphasized that such initiatives aim to assist individuals in distress and educate them about legal aspects. Sri Virupakashaiah also highlighted the judiciary’s role in promoting social welfare through initiatives like Lok Adalaths and the establishment of legal centers at the village, taluk, and district levels. He called upon the students to share their knowledge and create legal awareness, especially among rural communities, to foster a well-informed society.

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Judge Sri T.S. Shivaswamy, urged students to prioritize road safety and cherish the value of life. He emphasized that while the law allows for assistance to accident victims, it cannot restore lost lives. Sri Shivaswamy also stressed the importance of children caring for their parents in old age and raising awareness among parents about their rights. He urged the students to lead responsible lives and value the well-being of their neighbors.

In his presidential address, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, highlighted the significance of legal awareness for ensuring a safe and progressive nation. He emphasized that as laws evolve alongside changing societal dynamics, it is essential for every individual to stay informed. Prof. Sambashivaiah lauded the Right to Information Act for promoting transparency in administration and contributing to national development. He emphasized the need for people to familiarize themselves with this legislation.

The program commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. H.C. Honnappa, the Principal of the college, followed by an invocation by Kum. M.S. Sushmita. Dr. R. Suhas, Assistant Professor, skillfully conducted the program. The event witnessed the presence of teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as dedicated volunteers.

Free Mass Marriage program at Suttur on November 17, 2021

Suttur, July 10, 2021: The Suttur Sri Veerasimhasana Samsthana Math has been conducting monthly free mass marriage programs since February 2009, apart from the mass marriage program conducted during the Adijagadguru’s Jatra Mahotsav held at Suttur Srikshetra, with the divine blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Sri Haraguru Charamurthy will participate in the mass marriages held at Suttur Srikshetra along with the relatives and friends of the couples and bless them.

The groom should be above 21 years of age and the groom should be above 18 years of age to participate in the mass marriage program. Interested people can send applications along with the photograph of the bride and groom, along with caste certificates and certificate or school marks card copy as proof of age. Child marriages are strictly prohibited.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and government guidelines, all those who participate should compulsorily wear a mask, maintain social distancing and also undergo all other guidelines like thermal scanning, washing hands, and sanitizing.

This month’s mass marriage program is scheduled for November 17, 2021, Wednesday. Dr. M. Somashekaraiah Hails Mahatma Gandhi as a Beacon of Truth, Peace, Sacrifice, and Non-violence

Mysuru, October 2, 2021: Dr. M. Somashekaraiah expressed his deep admiration for Mahatma Gandhi and his invaluable contributions to the Indian independence movement during a function held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science on the occasion of the 152nd Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi. He lauded Gandhi as a symbol of truth, peace, sacrifice, and non-violence, without whom an independent India would be unimaginable.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr. Somashekaraiah emphasized the transformative impact of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideologies and simplicity. He also acknowledged the involvement and contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri in the Indian independence struggle, emphasizing the collective efforts of great leaders.

Presiding over the program, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, highlighted the significance of October 2nd as International Peace Day, owing to the principles and practice of non-violence propagated by Mahatma Gandhi. Prof. Sambashivaiah praised Gandhi’s life as a profound inspiration, not only within India but also across the globe. He acknowledged the multi-faceted nature of Gandhi’s personality, encompassing his involvement in various fields and his leadership qualities that fueled his fight against untouchability. Prof. Sambashivaiah emphasized Gandhi’s advocacy for women’s equality and his remarkable ability to treat his enemies as friends.

JSS School in Suttur Commemorates Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti

Suttur, October 2, 2021: The JSS Educational Institution in Suttur organized a special program to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Senior Citizens Day.

Sri K.L. Revanasiddaiah, Joint Director of the General Development Division at JSS MVP, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s global recognition as the leader who brought independence to India through his non-violent movement. Emphasizing the significance of Gandhi’s principles, Sri Revanasiddaiah stated that Gandhi’s life itself serves as an open book, inspiring people around the world. He commended Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to his beliefs and his influential role in fostering social change. Sri Revanasiddaiah also praised Lal Bahadur Shastri for his adherence to Gandhi’s principles, particularly his rallying cry of “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” (Hail the Soldier, Hail the Farmer). He urged the audience to embrace the values of simplicity, self-esteem, and honesty exhibited by these great leaders.

Expressing gratitude and respect for senior citizens, Sri Revanasiddaiah acknowledged their invaluable contributions to society. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and honoring the wisdom and guidance they offer to the younger generation.

Primary Education Minister presents new NEP to HH Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji

Practical Agriculture Training Program Empowers Farmers in Suttur

Suttur, September 22, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, in collaboration with ITC and Outreach Organizations in Mysuru, jointly organized a hands-on training program for farmers at the JSS KVK center in Suttur. The program aimed to equip farmers with practical knowledge and skills in various agricultural techniques.

Dr. Vinay G.M., a Scientist from the Horticulture Department, led the program and provided valuable insights to the participants on cultivating vegetable plants using methods such as the protray method and growing one-eyed plants. He also demonstrated the cultivation techniques for crops like papaya, drumstick, mango, cheeku, and coconut using transplantation methods.

A special demonstration on the preparation of low-cost vermicompost was also conducted. Dr. Vinay explained that worms play a vital role in breaking down organic materials present in the soil, such as animal waste, coconut fiber, sugarcane waste, banana plant stem, and green leaves. By combining these materials with cow dung and cow urine, farmers can create a nutrient-rich fertilizer by allowing the mixture to decompose.

The In-charge Chief of JSS KVK, Senior Scientist Divya, shared insights on seed treatment methods for paddy crops, crop management techniques, and integrated nutrition management. Soil Scientist Rajanna discussed soil sampling methods, emphasized the importance of maintaining soil health, and provided guidance on integrated nutrition management for banana crops.

The training program witnessed the presence of JSS KVK Senior Scientist Manjunath Angadi, scientists Shamraj, Netravati, Rakshith Raj, Gangadhar Hipparagi, and other staff members. Approximately 30 farmers from Arave Village in Hunsur Taluk actively participated in the program, gaining valuable knowledge and practical skills to enhance their agricultural practices.

The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra continues to promote and support the agricultural community by organizing such training programs that empower farmers with the latest techniques and methodologies in agriculture.
