Suttur, October 2, 2021: The JSS Educational Institution, Suttur, had organized a program on the occasion of the Mahatma Gandhiji, Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti, and Senior Citizens Day.
Sri K.L. Revanasiddaiah, Joint Director, General Development Division, JSS MVP was the chief guest. In his address, he explained that Mahatma Gandhiji is known across the world for bringing independence to India through his non-violence movement. “Gandhi’s life itself is an open book. He led his life as he said, and did what he said. Four continents and twelve countries have adopted his principles. Though he did not get a noble prize, we should not forget that he is the Father of our Nation. That is why we call him ‘Mahatma.’ He used to walk during all the ‘Satyagrah movements.’ His human values are a model for today’s society. He was the first person to raise his voice against racism in Africa and started movements. Gandhiji is not just a person. He was in fact a strength. Lal Bahadur Shastri also used to follow Gandhiji’s principles. Gandhi’s simplicity, self-esteem, honesty, and other principles should become an inspiration for all Indians. We need leaders like Shastriji, who called the people of the nation to support farmers and soldiers through his statement ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ and take our country towards the path of development and progress,” he said.
Speaking about senior citizens he mentioned that the contribution of senior citizens to society is immense. “They are guiding today’s youth through their suggestions and set the society right. We have to respect our seniors, and we should not neglect them,” he advised.
