Get Ready For The Extravaganza 2020!

JSS College for Women, Saraswathipuram is all set to flare up for the intercollegiate competition as a part of Management and Commerce Fest. The event titled Äntar Agni” is organized by the JSS Department of Commerce on 27th and 28th of February.

With the blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri. Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the event will be inaugurated by Prof. Shivappa, Registrar, University of Mysore and will be presided by Dr.C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSSMVP. Notable personalities from business and cinema fields will also attend the function. On the final day, Sri. K. Ullas Kamath, Joint Managing Director, Jyothy Laboratories Ltd. will address the valedictory and will be presided by Prof. R. Mugeshappa, Joint Director, Dept. of Collegiate Education, Mysore.

Jataveda (Best Manager), Vaisvanara (Human Resource), Rithambhara (Marketing), Hiranyareta (Treasure Hunt), Brhatbanu (Banking and Insurance), Kshitij (Group Dance) are the list of events organized as a part of the two day celebration.

Addressing Social Disparity in India: Prof. G.S. Suma Advocates for Social Justice

Kollegal, February 22, 2020: Prof. G.S. Suma, Assistant Professor at Sri Shivakumara PU College, Belakawadi, emphasized the existence of social disparity in India and called for collective efforts to eliminate this disparity. She delivered a special lecture on the topic “Indian Constitution and Social Justice” organized by the Political Science Department of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, on the occasion of World Social Justice Day.

During her lecture, Prof. Suma stressed the importance of fulfilling the objective of social justice by ensuring that every constitutional provision reaches every individual equally in the country. She highlighted that while inequality in India is often based on the caste system, other countries experience disparities in the form of racial inequality. Prof. Suma urged citizens to recognize their responsibility in establishing social justice and work together towards this goal.

The lecture program was inaugurated by Prof. Umesh, Principal of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal. In his address, Prof. Umesh emphasized the prominent place given to social justice in the Indian constitution. He highlighted that the founding fathers of the constitution, led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, emphasized the significance of social democracy alongside political democracy. Prof. Umesh explained that social justice can be achieved when equality becomes ingrained in our way of life. He further mentioned that World Social Justice Day has been observed annually on February 20 since 2009, as directed by the United Nations.

The event was attended by Sri Prakash and Smt. Mamatha, among others.

Oath taking ceremony of 16th batch nursing students of JSS Nursing College

Kollegal, February 24, 2020: The oath-taking ceremony of the 16th batch nursing students was held in the JSS Women’s College campus, Kollegal, on February 24, 2020.

Sri Nikitha M. Chinnaswamy, KAS, Asst. Commissioner, Kollegala, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Dr. Sri K.S. Ravindra, Pediatrician, Sri Manjunath M., Community Health Center, Kollegal, Smt. Saroja, Nursing Superintendent, General Hospital, Kollegala, Sri Vishakantamurthy D.G., Principal, Smt. T. Ranganayaki, Deputy Principal were the guests.

In the inaugural speech, Smt. Nikitha M. Chinnaswamy advised the students to inculcate honesty, truth, devotion, and trust in both personal and professional life and vow to serve the society. She appreciated the interest among girls in pursuing the nursing course.

Smt. Saroja administered the oath to the first-year nursing students.

On the occasion, the guests released the college annual magazine “Aarike”.

Dr. Sri K.S. Ravindra and Sri Manjunath M. urged the students to work for the upliftment of downtrodden people. Dr. K.S. Ravindra spoke about the services of the founder of JSS Institutions His Holiness Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji.

The function concluded with honoring the guests and a vote of thanks.

Mahashivarathri celebrations observed with fervor in Suttur

Suttur, February 21, 2020: Special pooja programmes were held at Suttur Srikshetra on the occasion of Mahashivarathri, in the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Special poojas were held at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, and Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerabhadreshwara, Sri Narayanaswamy temples.

While the students of the JSS Residential school, Suttur, presented devotional cultural programmes, Kum. Vismaya and Kum. Nisarga of Mysuru presented a devotional song recital programme. Smt. Arathi V. Balasubramanya, Head of the Vibhu Academy, Bengaluru, delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Shivatatwa’. In her lecture, she recited historical stories of Bedara Kannappa, Markandeya and others who proved that we can get the blessings of the almighty if we pray sincerely. “The results of our prayers should reach all. Yoga and sacrifices are the values of Indian culture,” she said.

Sri B. Shivakumarashastri, Shivakatha Chakravarthi presented ‘Shivapanchakshari Mahatme’, a Shivakatha recital.

Bhajan programmes were held continuously from 6.00 am on Friday to 6.00 am on Saturday, at the shrine and Srimath.

On the occasion, more than 80 children were given Shivadeekshe. Hundreds of devotees took part in the pooja programme and silver chariot procession.
