Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji’s 1062nd Jayanti Mahotsav at Suttur from Jan. 1

Suttur, December 30, 2021: The 1062nd Jayanti Mahotsav of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, founder of Srimatsutturu Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhashana Mahasamsthana Math, will be held at the Suttur Srikshetra on January 1, Saturday, in a simple manner, to prevent the spread of Omicron virus.

The celebrations will be held in the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji and pontiffs of several other maths. Several political leaders, dignitaries, devotees, and the public will take part.

Rudrabhisheka, Sahsranaamavali, Ashtottara, and other special poojas will commence early at 3.00 am at the Shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarthreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji. Special pooja will be conducted to the silver idol of the Adijagadguru.

The idol of the Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswami will be brought to the Srimath at 8.00 am in a procession led by various folk artists’ teams. The procession will pass through the main thoroughfares of Suttur before reaching the Srimath. Devotional songs singing and light music program will be held by the JSS Lalitha Kala Vrunda and Ninaada Team of Mysuru at 8.30 am, besides vachana recitals.

Sri Suttur Shivarathreeshwar Almanac, prepared by vidwan Dr. K.G. Puttahonnaiah, published by the Bharatiya Jyotivirgnana Samshodhana Kendra, and the 2022 calendar published by the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, along with table calendars, both in English and Kannada languages will be released on this occasion.

Foxtail millet field day

Suttur, December 27, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, had organized a Foxtail millet HFT 109-3 variety field day at the agricultural field belonging to a farmer named Sri Nanjundanayaka, Nanjangud.

Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani, Home Scientist, ICAR JSS KVK spoke about the foxtail millet. “Foxtail millet is one of the most important millets which is high in protein and fiber content. Regular consumption will help in releasing the glucose content in the body very slowly. Hence, it is suitable for diabetics,” she explained. Informing the health benefits of millets she advised the farmers to grow millets in their agricultural fields at least for self-usage.

In her address, Smt. H.V. Divya, Head and Senior Scientist, JSS KVK explained that the consumption of millets will help improve health. “Very less water is required to grow foxtail millet. As the fear of disease and pests are also less its maintenance cost is also very less,” she said and advised the farmers to grow foxtail and other millets and include them in their daily diet.

Sri Shamraj, Cultivation Scientist, JSS KVK, expressed his view that the DHFT variety foxtail millet crop seeds can be sown in the months of June-July, and it arrives for harvesting within 90 days. “You can get 7 to 8 quintals of produce in one acre of land along with 14 to 16 to 16 quintals of fodder yield,” he said and added that the production cost to grow millets is less.

The owner of the agricultural farm, farmer Sri Nanjundanayaka of Suttur, informed that he grew millets using foxtail millet seeds DHFT 109-3 provided by the ICAR JSS KVK. He explained that it was completely disease and pest-free, and he had not used fertilizers or pesticides to grow it, and even the production cost was less. He also called upon other farmers to try growing millets and share their experiences.

Another farmer Sri Nanjudaswamy from Bokkalli, who had participated in the field day program said that he would also like to grow millets in his agricultural field, which helps in protecting soil health and personal health.

Farmer Sri Gurulingegowda of Biligere village appreciated the efforts of the JSS Krishi Viganan Kendra in sharing valuable information and encouraging the farmers to grow millets by providing the required seeds. “He called upon all his fellow farmers also to grow millets.

About 30 farmers participated in the program.

Free education for children of COVID victim families, at the JSS Residential School

Suttur, December 17, 2021: A few children of the COVID victim families are being provided free education at the JSS Residential School in Suttur during the academic year 2021-2022 with the blessings of Parampujya Jagadguru Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamy had given a press statement mentioning that the students studying from 1to 10th standards will provide free education facilities at the JSS Residential School, in Suttur. Accordingly, several students from various places across the State including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Chamarajanagara, Davangere, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Chikkamagaluru, and other Districts have enrolled in the school from 5th to 10th standards and are learning here.

Presently, more than 4,000 children who are pursuing education at the JSS Educational Institution are hailing from poor families and belong to different states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and North Eastern states Meghalaya, Manipur, Jharkhand, and the Bihar States.

Online telecast of Natural Agricultural Farming Conference and Indigenous Vegetable Seed Production Training Program

Suttur, December 16, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra had made arrangements for the online telecast of the Natural Agricultural Farming and Indigenous Vegetable Seed Production Training Program.

Sri Sadananda, Zilla Panchayat member, Mysuru, spoke about natural agricultural farming and advised the participants to utilize the benefits of the program. Sri Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Agriculture, Govt. of India, explained the various programs introduced by the government for the benefit of the farmers, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, Farmer Producers’ Association, and Atma Nirbhar programs. He encouraged the farmers to adopt natural farming methods.

In his address Sri Amit Shah, Home Minister expressed his view that the farmers can reduce the production costs by adopting natural farming methods. “Not only that it also increases the soil fertility and fetches more yield. Certification of organic products is increasing across the world and hence it will fetch you more demand and good price in the international market,” he explained and advised the farmers to switch to natural farming.

Sri Acharya, Governor, Gujarath shared his experiences of natural farming. He advised the farmers to stop using chemicals and give preference for natural products like ‘Jeevamrutha,’ ‘Ghana Jeevamrutha,’ ‘Nimaastra,’ ‘Beejamrutha,’ etc. “It will help in increasing the organic carbon of the soil and you can get more yield spending less money,” he explained.

In his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon the farmers to get inspiration from Governor Acharya’s words, and switch to natural farming methods on a revolutionary basis, and make efforts in making the soil of India completely chemical-free. He also explained the importance and benefits of indigenous cattle.

Smt. Divya H.V., Head (In-charge) and Senior Scientist, JSS KVK translated the speeches of the dignitaries into Kannada for the benefit of the participants.

Sri Kalappa, of Hitne Hebbagilu Village, Periyapatna Taluk, Mysuru District participated in the training program as a resource person. He shared his experiences of growing vegetable seeds using natural farming methods and provided information about the various diseases and pest management. He also informed about the preparation methods of several decoctions using various herbs, which will help treat crop diseases and pest management.

A total number of 87 people, including the students of the VC Farm, Agriculture University, Mandya, Self Help Group members of the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Program, staff of JSS KVK, staff members of the Biligere Raitha Samparka Kendra, TVS staff, Suttur, male and female farmers of Biligere and other surrounding villages took part in the program.

‘Age of Choices’ – Competitive task for students to make choices: Dr. C.G. Betsurmath

Mysuru, December 16, 2021: “Today we live in a world of difficult choices, and to choose the best in ‘the age of choice’ is a highly competitive task, and hence, the students are at the crossroads of selections,” opined Dr. C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSSMVP.

He inaugurated ‘Deeksharambh,’ a two-day UG Induction Program 2021-22, and the JSS CACS Competitive Examination Training Cell today, at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru. In his address to the students, he observed that today we live in a world of difficult choices, and to choose the best in this ‘Age of Choices’ is a highly competitive task for the students.

Further, he also expressed his concern on the problem faced by parents in selecting a good educational institution for their wards in today’s technological world that has changed the concept of education. He felt that technology is inculcating creativity among the students to enhance the capacity to think and for independent learning. Students must develop social and emotional skills apart from gaining worldly knowledge.

“The objective of the Training Cell is to prepare the students for competitive exams, and to face challenges of socializing, associating, governing, and above all rationalizing and to enhance their personality,” he added.

Presiding over the function, Prof. K.C. Veerabhadraiah, Joint Director, Department of Collegiate Education, Mysuru, explained the National Education Policy and the changes that can be expected in the new system. He observed that NEP-2020 provides ample opportunity to enhance the creative skills of the students. He called upon the students to be aware of the uses and misuses of technology and be cautious and not be tempted in misusing the technology.

At the beginning of the inaugural session, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the college provided information about the facilities available in the college and advised them to make the best use of them. He said that the main intention of the induction program is to introduce the first-year students to all and acclimatize them to the new environment.

Dr. H.C. Honnappa, the Principal, welcomed and introduced the guests. Dr. M. Poornima, HoD, Department of English, proposed a vote of thanks, and Ms. Sushmitha and Dumbishree of the first B.Voc. rendered an invocation. Dr. Kumudini Achchi, Department of Social Works (PG) mastered the program.

Army chopper crash: Suttur Srimath and JSS MVP salutes martyrs

Mysuru, December 11, 2021: Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, his wife, and 11 other officers of the Indian Defence forces, who died in a helicopter crash on December 8, 2021, at Coonoor, in Tamil Nadu, is a cruel shock for the country.

CDS Bipin Rawat as the first Chief of Defence Staff had successfully led the Indian forces against the frequent Chinese and Pakistani intrusions into Indian territory. His role in international peacekeeping at several places including Africa is memorable. He has left an indelible mark on the course of the US-India defense partnership, and was instrumental in integrating all three Indian defence forces.

We express our profound grief on the untimely death of CDS Bipin Rawat, Mrs. Madhulika Rawat, and fellow officers. May God give strength to the grieving families and defence staff to bear this huge loss.
