1062nd Jayanti Mahotsav of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji to be Celebrated at Suttur on January 1

Suttur, December 30, 2021: The 1062nd Jayanti Mahotsav of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, the revered founder of Srimatsutturu Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhashana Mahasamsthana Math, is set to take place at the picturesque Suttur Srikshetra on January 1, Saturday. In light of the prevailing Omicron virus concerns, the celebrations will be conducted in a modest manner, prioritizing public health and safety.

The event will witness the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, alongside eminent pontiffs representing several other renowned maths. Distinguished political leaders, esteemed dignitaries, devoted followers, and members of the public are expected to grace the occasion with their esteemed presence.

The auspicious ceremonies will commence in the early hours at 3.00 am, with Rudrabhisheka, Sahsranaamavali, Ashtottara, and other special poojas being conducted at the Shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarthreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji. An exclusive pooja will be performed in honor of the silver idol of the Adijagadguru.

At 8.00 am, a grand procession led by various folk artists’ teams will commence, carrying the sacred idol of Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswami to the esteemed Srimath. The procession will traverse through the main thoroughfares of Suttur, capturing the hearts of onlookers. Furthermore, an enthralling session of devotional songs and melodious musical performances by the JSS Lalitha Kala Vrunda and Ninaada Team of Mysuru is scheduled for 8.30 am, accompanied by soul-stirring vachana recitals.

As part of the commemorations, the Sri Suttur Shivarathreeshwar Almanac, meticulously prepared by the esteemed Vidwan Dr. K.G. Puttahonnaiah and published by the esteemed Bharatiya Jyotivirgnana Samshodhana Kendra, will be unveiled. Additionally, the JSS Mahavidyapeetha will release the highly anticipated 2022 calendar, complemented by table calendars available in both English and Kannada languages.

ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra Organizes Foxtail Millet Field Day in Suttur

Suttur, December 27, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, successfully organized a field day focused on the Foxtail millet HFT 109-3 variety. The event took place at the agricultural field owned by farmer Sri Nanjundanayaka in Nanjangud, garnering participation from approximately 30 enthusiastic farmers.

During the event, Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani, Home Scientist at ICAR JSS KVK, provided insights into the nutritional benefits of foxtail millet. She emphasized its high protein and fiber content and ability to release glucose slowly in the body, making it suitable for individuals with diabetes. Encouraging farmers, she recommended the cultivation of millets for personal consumption in their agricultural fields.

Addressing the audience, Smt. H.V. Divya, Head and Senior Scientist at JSS KVK emphasized the health improvements associated with millet consumption. She highlighted the minimal water requirements and low maintenance costs of growing foxtail millet, stressing its resilience against diseases and pests. Her advice to farmers was to include foxtail millet and other millets in their daily diet.

Sri Shamraj, Cultivation Scientist at JSS KVK, shared valuable insights on the cultivation of DHFT variety foxtail millet. He recommended sowing the crop seeds during June-July, with a harvesting period of approximately 90 days. Sri Shamraj mentioned that farmers can expect a yield of 7 to 8 quintals of produce per acre, along with 14 to 16 quintals of fodder. He also highlighted the cost-effectiveness of millet production.

The host farmer, Sri Nanjundanayaka of Suttur, expressed his satisfaction with growing millets using the DHFT 109-3 foxtail millet seeds provided by ICAR JSS KVK. He emphasized that the crop remained disease and pest-free, requiring no fertilizers or pesticides, thus minimizing production costs. Sri Nanjundanayaka encouraged fellow farmers to venture into millet cultivation and share their experiences.

Another participant, farmer Sri Nanjudaswamy from Bokkalli, expressed his interest in growing millets in his agricultural field to promote soil health and personal well-being.

Appreciating the efforts of JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, farmer Sri Gurulingegowda of Biligere village commended the valuable information shared and the provision of necessary seeds to encourage millet cultivation. He called upon all farmers to join in cultivating millets.

The Foxtail Millet Field Day proved to be an enlightening and inspiring gathering, providing farmers with practical knowledge and motivation to embrace millet cultivation for a sustainable and healthy future.

Free Education Offered to Children of COVID Victim Families at JSS Residential School

Suttur, December 17, 2021: In a compassionate gesture towards the children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the JSS Residential School in Suttur is providing free education for the academic year 2021-2022 to select students from COVID victim families. This initiative, undertaken with the blessings of Parampujya Jagadguru Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, aims to support and uplift these children during these challenging times.

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamy, in a press statement, expressed his concern for the welfare of students in grades 1 to 10. As a result, the JSS Residential School in Suttur opened its doors to provide free education facilities to these students. Responding to this call, numerous children from different parts of the state, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Chamarajanagara, Davangere, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Chikkamagaluru, and other districts, have enrolled in the school and are currently pursuing their education from grades 5 to 10.

At present, the JSS Educational Institution has over 4,000 students from underprivileged families. These children come from various states such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra, as well as North Eastern states like Meghalaya, Manipur, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

This noble initiative by the JSS Residential School serves as a testament to their commitment to providing quality education and support to those in need, particularly children who have faced the tragic loss of their loved ones due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Online Telecast of Natural Agricultural Farming Conference and Indigenous Vegetable Seed Production Training Program

Suttur, December 16, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra has successfully organized an online telecast of the Natural Agricultural Farming Conference and Indigenous Vegetable Seed Production Training Program. The virtual event brought together agricultural experts, government officials, and farmers to discuss the benefits and techniques of natural farming and indigenous vegetable seed production.

Sri Sadananda, a member of the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, highlighted the importance of natural agricultural farming and encouraged participants to make the most of the program. Sri Narendra Singh Tomar, the Minister for Agriculture of the Government of India, shed light on various government initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, Farmer Producers’ Association, and Atma Nirbhar programs, urging farmers to embrace natural farming practices.

Addressing the audience, Sri Amit Shah, the Home Minister, emphasized that adopting natural farming methods can reduce production costs while enhancing soil fertility and increasing yields. He also stressed the growing global demand and premium prices for organic products, emphasizing the need for farmers to transition to natural farming.

The event also featured Sri Acharya, the Governor of Gujarat, who shared his experiences with natural farming and advised farmers to cease using chemicals and instead opt for natural products like ‘Jeevamrutha,’ ‘Ghana Jeevamrutha,’ ‘Nimaastra,’ and ‘Beejamrutha.’ Sri Acharya emphasized that these methods can significantly increase soil organic carbon and improve yields while minimizing expenses.

In his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged farmers to draw inspiration from Governor Acharya’s words and undertake a revolutionary shift towards natural farming. He emphasized the need to make Indian soil completely chemical-free and highlighted the importance of indigenous cattle in farming practices.

The training program also featured Sri Kalappa from Hitne Hebbagilu Village, Periyapatna Taluk, Mysuru District, as a resource person. He shared his experiences in growing vegetable seeds using natural farming methods and provided insights on disease and pest management. Sri Kalappa also discussed the preparation of various decoctions using herbal ingredients to effectively address crop diseases and pest infestations.

A total of 87 participants, including students from the VC Farm of Agriculture University, Mandya, members of the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Program’s Self Help Groups, staff from JSS KVK and Biligere Raitha Samparka Kendra, as well as male and female farmers from Biligere and surrounding villages, actively participated in the program.

‘Age of Choices’ – Competitive task for students to make choices: Dr. C.G. Betsurmath

Mysuru, December 16, 2021: “Today we live in a world of difficult choices, and to choose the best in ‘the age of choice’ is a highly competitive task, and hence, the students are at the crossroads of selections,” opined Dr. C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSSMVP.

He inaugurated ‘Deeksharambh,’ a two-day UG Induction Program 2021-22, and the JSS CACS Competitive Examination Training Cell today, at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru. In his address to the students, he observed that today we live in a world of difficult choices, and to choose the best in this ‘Age of Choices’ is a highly competitive task for the students.

Further, he also expressed his concern on the problem faced by parents in selecting a good educational institution for their wards in today’s technological world that has changed the concept of education. He felt that technology is inculcating creativity among the students to enhance the capacity to think and for independent learning. Students must develop social and emotional skills apart from gaining worldly knowledge.

“The objective of the Training Cell is to prepare the students for competitive exams, and to face challenges of socializing, associating, governing, and above all rationalizing and to enhance their personality,” he added.

Presiding over the function, Prof. K.C. Veerabhadraiah, Joint Director, Department of Collegiate Education, Mysuru, explained the National Education Policy and the changes that can be expected in the new system. He observed that NEP-2020 provides ample opportunity to enhance the creative skills of the students. He called upon the students to be aware of the uses and misuses of technology and be cautious and not be tempted in misusing the technology.

At the beginning of the inaugural session, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the college provided information about the facilities available in the college and advised them to make the best use of them. He said that the main intention of the induction program is to introduce the first-year students to all and acclimatize them to the new environment.

Dr. H.C. Honnappa, the Principal, welcomed and introduced the guests. Dr. M. Poornima, HoD, Department of English, proposed a vote of thanks, and Ms. Sushmitha and Dumbishree of the first B.Voc. rendered an invocation. Dr. Kumudini Achchi, Department of Social Works (PG) mastered the program.

Army chopper crash: Suttur Srimath and JSS MVP salutes martyrs

Mysuru, December 11, 2021: Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, his wife, and 11 other officers of the Indian Defence forces, who died in a helicopter crash on December 8, 2021, at Coonoor, in Tamil Nadu, is a cruel shock for the country.

CDS Bipin Rawat as the first Chief of Defence Staff had successfully led the Indian forces against the frequent Chinese and Pakistani intrusions into Indian territory. His role in international peacekeeping at several places including Africa is memorable. He has left an indelible mark on the course of the US-India defense partnership, and was instrumental in integrating all three Indian defence forces.

We express our profound grief on the untimely death of CDS Bipin Rawat, Mrs. Madhulika Rawat, and fellow officers. May God give strength to the grieving families and defence staff to bear this huge loss.
