Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy New President of Akhila Bharatha Sharana Sahitya Parishat


Mysuru, December 7, 2021: Following the announcement of the self-retirement of the Akihla Bharatha Sharana Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Go.Ru. Channabasappa due to age factors, senior Vidwan Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy has been appointed in his place as the President.

Dr. Go.Ru. Channabasappa was the President of the Parishath for the last 25 years. After he announced his self-retirement, Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy has been unanimously elected as the President at the Executive Committee meeting.


Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy took over the charge from Dr. Go.Ru. Channabasappa, on December 6, 2021, in the presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, Honorary President, Akhila Bharatha Sharana Sahitya Parishat, and Pujya Dr. Sri Thontada Siddarama Mahaswmi and as per the approval of the Executive Committee.

Heads of various branches of the Parishath across the State have congratulated the new President-elect.

36th Death Anniversary of HH Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, Jatra Mahotsav consultation meeting and calendar release program

Suttur, December 6, 2021: The 36th Death Anniversary of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji will be held at the Suttur Srikshetra on December 8, Wednesday, in the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. Special pooja and Rudrabhishek will be performed at the holy shrine early in the morning.

A meeting will be held at 10.00 am to discuss the organizing of the Jatra Mahotsav, with the Jatra Mahotsav committee members and devotees. The Jatra Mahotsav is scheduled to be held in January – February 2022.

2022 wall and packet calendars published by the Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthan Math, Suttur Srikshetra, and JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, will be released on the occasion.

Those who participate in the program and the meeting are suggested to follow COVID-appropriate guidelines provided by the government.

Farmers in Suttur advised to cultivate turmeric crop varieties that offer higher yield

Suttur, December 6, 2021: As part of the ongoing Technology Week, the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, organized a Kshetrotsava (Field Day) focusing on turmeric cultivation. The event took place in Kupparavalli Village, Nanjangud Taluk, where farmers were taken on a field visit to learn about the turmeric variety released by the Indian Institute of Spices Research, which promises higher yield.

During her address to the farmers, Smt. Divya, Senior Scientist and Head of JSS KVK, provided detailed information about the various programs of the KVK and the ongoing Technology Week.

Gangappa Hipparagi, Farm Manager at JSS KVK, shared his expertise on growing turmeric crops. Dr. Vinay G.M., Horticulture Scientist at JSS KVK, elaborated on the characteristics of the ‘Prathiba’ turmeric variety, emphasizing its higher yield potential. He also informed participants about other varieties such as Prabha, Kedaram, Alipi Supreme, and Prathiba, all released by the Indian Institute of Spices Research, which can contribute to increased profits for farmers. Shamraj, a cultivation scientist, shed light on various other programs offered by JSS KVK.

The program witnessed the participation of Rajanna, Veterinarian Dr. Rakshith Raj, and others. Over 40 male and female farmers took advantage of the knowledge shared during the Field Day, aimed at benefiting their turmeric cultivation practices.

Kshetrotsava (Field Day) on the highest yield giving tumeric variety ‘Pratihba,’ released by the Indian Institute of Spices Research was conducted by the ICAR JSS KVK, at Suttur.

Dhanvantri Jayanti celebration

Mysuru, December 06, 2021: The JSS Ayurveda College and Hospital, Mysuru, conducted a program on December 2, 2021, Thursday, on the occasion of the ‘Dhanvantri Jayanti.’

A Dhanvantri Homa was performed in the Hospital premises as part of the program.

Sri R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, graced the occasion. Dr. Sarbeswar Kar, Principal, and Medical Superintendent JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital Mysuru, all the teaching, non-teaching staff, junior doctors, students and patients were present.

Reservation is not caste-based – Dr. Jahnavi

Mysuru, December 1, 2021: Dr. Jahnavi, a Professor in the Department of Law at Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru, emphasized that the objective of reservation is to uplift socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

She expressed these views as the chief guest during a program on ‘Constitution Day’ held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science on B.N. Road, Mysuru. Dr. Jahnavi highlighted the significance of the Indian Constitution, stating that it is one of the finest constitutions in the world and emphasizes social justice. Regarding reservation, she clarified that it should not be perceived solely as a caste-based provision for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), but rather as a means to address the social and financial backwardness of a large number of people falling under these categories.

Prof. B.A. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, presided over the program. In his address, he outlined how the Indian Constitution incorporated elements from various constitutions, including those of Britain, Ireland, Japan, America, South Africa, Germany, Australia, and Canada. He highlighted the meticulous efforts and dedication that went into drafting the constitution over a span of two years, 11 months, and 18 days. Prof. Sambashivaiah emphasized the importance of paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, as well as Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the President of the Constitution Drafting Committee, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.

Smt. R.G. Asha, Head of the Department of Political Science, read out the proposal of the Constitution. Principal Prof. H.C. Honnappa extended a warm welcome to the guests and the audience. An invocation was performed by student Kum. Shravya, followed by a vote of thanks by Smt. L.S. Shruti. The program was skillfully conducted by Smt. K.C. Shruti.
