JSS high schools

Background

Primary education is what lays the foundation for children’s future. That is the reason for which the government is focusing on primary education. This is also the priority of JSS Mahavidyapeetha and hence it has established many primary schools in urban and rural areas. There are 18 primary schools and 59 high schools in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru, Kolar, Hassan, Mandya and Shimoga in Karnataka and Periyar District in Tamilnadu.

About 6,765 students are studying in primary schools (3,824 boys and 2,941 girls) and 167 teaching and 36 non-teaching staff are working in these primary schools. Out of the 18 primary schools, 8 schools are aided and 10 schools are run by JSS MVP. Recurring expenditure of these primary schools amounted to Rs.223.14 lakh and non-recurring expenditure Rs. 09.77 lakh.

It was difficult for most of the children from rural areas to continue their education after primary school as there were no high schools in nearby villages. JSSMVP decided to address the issue by establishing high schools in many villages of Karnataka. Out of the 59 high schools run by JSSMVP, 30 are aided and 29 high schools are run by JSS MVP and 12,798 students (7,191 boys and 5,607 girls) are studying in these schools. 556 teachers and 154 non-teaching staff are employed in these schools. Recurring expenditure of these schools is Rs.1,341.83 lakh and the non-recurring expenditure is Rs. 35.68 lakhs.

The institution believes in creating a socially equal society by providing equal opportunities in education to all sections of society.
