About Us
Before Independence, Bandalli village was known as Shilapuri Patna. In the northeastern part of the village, hundreds of Veeragallus and Mastikallus (stones which depict the heroics and courage of brave men and women) stand in mute testimony to the stories of Palegars (local rulers) who ruled this place.
Shagya is a village situated at a distance of 8 km from Bandalli. A. Shivalingappa, a resident of Shagya passed away in the year 1980. Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji, came to Bandalli, while on his way to Shagya to mourn the death of Shivalingappa. The people of Bandalli welcomed His Holiness and requested him to establish a High School in their village. Sri B. M. Siddappa, Sri B. M. Shivanna, Sri B. T. Halagappa, Sri Madappa and Sri Nazir Ahmed of Bandalli agreed to provide the place and building required for the school. As a result, the JSS High School, Bandalli, was established in June 1980.
Bandalli is located at a distance of 11 km from Hanur. The nearby villages such as Shagya, Halagapura, Thoniyarapalya, Managalli and Thellanurur have higher primary schools and needed a high school. In this light, the establishment of a high school in Bandalli has dramatically helped the poor people of Bandalli and surrounding villages.
The school admits children without discrimination based on caste, creed or religion. Many children belonging to backward classes who studied in this school have built a good career for themselves.
