Mysuru, June 21, 2021: Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of JSS College of Commerce, Science, and Arts, B.N. Road, Mysuru, emphasized the significance of yoga in promoting a beautiful and healthy life. Speaking at a program organized at the college premises on June 21, 2021, in celebration of International Yoga Day, Prof. Sambashivaiah highlighted the cultural heritage of India and the invaluable teachings passed down by our ancestors.

“Our tradition has bestowed upon us the wisdom to lead a life of virtue and discipline. Yoga is an integral part of our cultural heritage, offering us a pathway to cultivate a healthy and fulfilling existence,” expressed Prof. Sambashivaiah. He emphasized the holistic nature of well-being, stressing the importance of nurturing both physical and mental health. Recognizing the global recognition of yoga and its positive impact on individuals worldwide, he urged everyone to embrace yoga as a way of life. International Yoga Day serves as a reminder to learn and practice yoga for the betterment of oneself and society.

Acknowledging the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on humanity and the environment, Prof. Sambashivaiah lamented the inability to celebrate International Yoga Day with large gatherings as in previous years. However, he encouraged individuals to transcend the limitations of the current situation and incorporate a daily yoga practice into their lives, thereby contributing to a disease-free society. Expressing optimism for the future, he expressed his hope for the nation to overcome the pandemic swiftly.

To commemorate the occasion, a virtual yoga class conducted by K. Shilpashri from Bengaluru was attended by the college’s teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students. The program commenced with a soulful invocation by Smt. M. Geetha, followed by a warm welcome by Principal Dr. H.C. Honnappa. Dr. N. Maheshwari delivered a vote of thanks, and Dr. L. Suhas skillfully anchored the program.
