Yoga provides good and healthy life: Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah

Mysuru, June 21, 2021: “India is a wealthy nation. Our tradition has helped us to receive life as a penance. Our ancestors have taught us all the culture and ways that have to be followed from birth till death. Yoga is also included in it. We can develop a beautiful and healthy life through yoga,” opined Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive, JSS College of Commerce, Science and Arts, B.N. Road, Mysuru.
He participated in a program organized at the College premises on June 21, 2021, as part of International Yoga Day. In his address to the students he explained, “Our body helps us to keep both our body and mind healthy. A human being cannot lead a good life only with good physical health. Mental health is also important. The entire world has started understanding it and hence all of them are now following yoga. Everyone should learn yoga and practice it, which is the main objective the International Yoga Day. The COVID-19 Pandemic has made a huge impact on not only the entire mankind but also on nature. As a result of which we are still not able to come out of our houses fearlessly and enjoy the company of our friends. Lakhs of people used to gather at one place during International Yoga Day since 2015. But this year we are forced to observe the day ‘staying at home.’ We should not limit practicing yoga just on this day. We should indeed inculcate a habit of practicing it every day in our lives and make our society disease-free. I wish the country shall get rid of the pandemic as soon as possible,” he said.

A virtual yoga class was held by K. Shilpashri from Bengaluru. All the teaching, non-teaching staff, and students of the College attended the online program. Earlier, the program commenced with an invocation by Smt. M. Geetha. Principal Dr. H.C. Honnappa welcomed, Dr. N. Maheshwari gave a vote of thanks and Dr. L. Suhas anchored the program.
