Training program on suitable crop and crop methods under Jalashakti Abhiyana

Suttur, July 20, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra had organized a training program on suitable crops and crop methods under the Jalashakti Abhiayana, at the Sonahalli Village in Nanjangud Taluk on July 19, 2021.

Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (In-charge), JSS KVK explained about the value of water and its conservation.

Sri Shyamraj, Cultivation Scientist, JSS KVK informed that participants that it is better to first inspect the soil and water quality and then decide what crop to grow. He provided information about the rainfed and irrigation crops and methods and advised to grow crop that is suitable in the area. He also shared information about the cultivation of the COFS-31 maize variety through demonstration. COFS-31 variety seeds were distributed to the farmers.

Sri J.G. Rajanna, Soil Scientist provided information about management of slime soil. Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani, Home Scientist informed the farmers to include more green vegetables and fruits in the daily diet in order increase immunity. She also advised the participants to make efforts to develop kitchen garden using waste kitchen water.
Dr. Vinay M., Horticulture Scientist spoke about water management in banana crop and disease management. About 35 farmers took part in the training program.
