Suttur, June 23, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra (JSS KVK), Suttur, had organized a program titled ‘Balanced usage of Fertilizers’, for the benefit of farmers at the center in Suttur on May 18, 2021, as part of the platinum jubilee celebrations (India @ 75) of Indian Independence.

Sri J.G. Rajanna, Program Assistant (Soil Science), JSS KVK who participated in the program informed the participants about the various important aspects like the objective of conducting a soil test, percentage of soil essence, and salinity. He informed that the various important nutrients including nitrogen, phosphorous and secondary nutrients, and primary nutrients should be managed as per the soil tests. He also explained in detail the precautionary measures that have to be followed while extracting soil samples and demonstrated the method of extracting soil samples in the agricultural field.
The participants were informed about the suitable fertilizers and time that has to be used for different crops based on the soil test. The farmers were provided information about the major and primary nutrients in fertilizers. The method of soil testing that will be conducted in the laboratory and the method of identifying poor quality fertilizers were also explained. Sri Shamraj, Scientist, Cultivation science, shared information about the preparation of vermicompost and the importance of biofertilizers.
Sri A.S. Guruswamy, ZP Member, Mysuru, and 42 farmers took part in the program. Smt. Divya H.V., Senior Scientist, In-charge, JSS KVK and Chief, Smt. Netravati Yettinamani, Home Scientist, Sri Vinay G.M., Horticultural Scientist, Sri Sundar Raj K.V., Office Superintendent, and Kum. Shilpa, Program Technical Assistant were present.
