Five-Day Apiculture and Value-Addition Training Held at ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur

Suttur, December 1, 2025: A five-day training programme on Apiculture and value addition was organised at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Suttur, from December 1 to 5, 2025, in collaboration with the Agricultural Technicians Training Institute of the Agriculture Department, Mysuru.

Addressing the participants as the chief guest, Dr. Rajagopal, retired professor of the Agricultural University, emphasized that the survival of honeybees is crucial for the survival of humankind, as they form an integral part of the biological chain. He noted that Apiculture was introduced as a subject in the Agricultural University in 1996 to highlight its ecological importance. He stressed the need for conducting Apiculture training programmes in large numbers and creating greater awareness among farmers.

Presiding over the programme, Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, highlighted that honey with medicinal properties holds an important place in Ayurveda. He explained that Apiculture enhances pollination in crops, thereby increasing agricultural yields. He further added that even individuals without land can practise honey farming by taking permission from landowners and placing bee boxes on their plots. He urged the trainees to encourage other farmers to adopt Apiculture in their respective areas.

Mrs. Anusha, Agriculture Officer, KR Nagar, briefed the participants on the facilities and support offered by the Agriculture Department for Apiculture.

Earlier, Dr. Y.P. Prasad welcomed the gathering, followed by an address by Dr. Deepak. Shri H.V. Divya proposed a vote of thanks. A total of 42 farmers and farm women from various taluks of Mysuru district participated in the programme.

Vaishnavi wins gold medal in State-level Karate Competition

Suttur, December 1, 2025: Sixth standard student of the JSS Free Residential School, Suttur, Vaishnavi participated in the State-level Karate Competitions held at the Chamundi vihar Stadium in Mysuru, organised by the University of Mysore and won in both ‘Kata’ and ‘Kumite’ categories, and earned a gold medal.

The administrative officers, Headmasters, teaching and non-teaching staff of the Institution have congratulated her.

Suttur, December 2, 2025: Students of various JSS schools and colleges have secured Individual and Team prizes in several athletics, at the three-day JSS Inter-Institutions Sports meet held at Suttur Shrikshetra, in memory of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Shri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji.

Primary School Division: Individual Prize: Boys and Girls category – JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur students Kum. Kumentam Dhanjit Mythai (13 pints) and Kum. Habana H. Lingdo (13 points) and secured individual prize.

Team Prize: JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur Boys category (52 points) and Girls category (52 points) – Team prize.

High School Division: Individual Prize: In boys category students of JSS Public School, JP Nagar, Mysuru Samarth (15 points) and in girls category Govt. Upgraded Higher Primary School, Suttur student Kum. Shubhashri (13 points) have secured individual prize.

Team Prize: JSS Public School, Bage: Boys category (36 points) and JSS High School, Suttur, Girls category (35 points) – Team prize.

PU College Division: Individual Prizes: In boys category Kailas C. of the JSS PU College, Ooty Road, Mysuru secured 10 points and in girls  category Kum. Akshata of the JSS Women’s PU College, Chamarajanagara has scored 10 points, earning Individual prizes respectively.

Team Prize: JSS PU College, Ooty Road, Mysuru (16 points) and in girls category the JSS Women’s PU College, Chamarajanagara (36 points) – Team prize.

PU College Division: Individual Prize: In both boys and girls categories, Dhruva Ballal of the JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru, secured 10 points and Kum. Laksha of the JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram secured 10 points and won individual prizes.

Team Prize: JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru: While the Men’s category scored 44 points, the JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru scored 26 points in girls category and won team prizes.

Parade and Important Games Division

Parade: In Primary School Division – JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur; in High School Division the JSS High School, Suttur; in PU College Division, the JSS Women’s PU College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru, in Degree College Division, JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru, these schools and colleges secured first place.

In Primary School division: in Kabaddi – Boys category students of the JSS Public School, Chamarajanagara, and in girls category students of JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur secured first place. Mohit Y. emerged as ‘Best Player’ award and Habana H. Lindo emerged as ‘Best Player-Girl’ awards.

In High School Division: In Kho-Kho boys and girls division, the JSS High School, Suttur secured first place. H.N. Likith of the school emerged as the ‘Best Player’ and in girls category Ranjita S.R. emerged as the ‘Best Player’ and won prizes.

In High School division: In volleyball, the JSS Boys’ High School, Chamarajanagar secured first place. Shivakumar, student of this school won the ‘Best Player’ award. In throwball, the JSS High School, Suttur secured first place and Kum. Krutika of this school emerged as the ‘Best player.’

PU Colleges Division: Boys Volleyball – JSS PU College, Hullahalli (1st place); Mahadeva of the JSS Polytechnic, Mysuru emerged as the ‘Best player.’ In Ball badminton, the JSS PU College, Nanjangud secured first place. Ravichandra K.L. won the ‘Best Player’ prize. In Women’s Throwball, JSS PU College, Saraguru secured first place and Supreeta of the PU College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru emerged as the ‘Best Player.’ In ball badminton the JSS Women’s College, Saraswtihpuram, Mysuru secured first place, and Prateeksha G.S. won the ‘Best Player,’ award.

PU Colleges Division: In Boys volleyball and Ball badminton, the JSS College of Science, Arts and Commerce, Ooty Road, Mysuru secured first place. In volleyball Srinivas M.P. in Ball badminton Chandan S., won the ‘Best Player’ awards. In Women’s Throwball, the JSS Science and Technical University, Mysuru secured first place. Deepa H.M. won the ‘Best Player’ award. In Ball badminton, the JSS Women’s College, Kollegal secured first place and Sinchana T.S., won the ‘Best Player’ award.

Shiva Deepotsava – Krittikotsava to Be Celebrated at Suttur Srikshetra on December 3

Suttur, December 2, 2025: The Shiva Deepotsava – Krittikotsava has been organised on Wednesday evening, December 3, at the shrine of Adi Jagadguru Shri Shivaratreeshwara Shivayogigalu at Suttur Srikshetra, in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

The programme will commence at 5.30 pm with the worship and flagging off of the Prasar Rath of the Shri Shivaratreeshwara Jatra Mahotsava. This will be followed at 6.00 pm by a mass prayer led by the music teachers and children of JSS Residential School. At 7.00 pm, a special lecture by Dr. Nagamani S. Khandreravari, researcher at Illumin Knowledge Resources (P) Limited, has been organised. Later, at 8.00 pm, Mahamangalarati, Prakarotsava and Deepotsava will be performed, after which prasad will be distributed to the devotees.

On the occasion, special pujas have also been arranged at the Sri Mahadeshwara Sannidhi, Sri Someshwara and Sri Veerabhadreshwara temples of the Shrikshetra.

Devotees and the general public are requested to participate in large numbers and seek the blessings of Sri Guru.

Victory Moment for JSS PU College

The relay team of JSS Pre-University College, Ooty Road, Mysuru, clinched the overall team award and an individual honour at the boys’ relay event conducted at Suttur Sri Kshetra in memory of Jagadguru Dr. Shri Shivaratri Rajendra Mahaswamiji.
