Special Poojas Commence at Sri Sutturu Math in Mysuru During Navaratri Festival

Mysuru, October 19, 2020: In celebration of the Navaratri festival, which commenced on October 17, 2020, special poojas have begun at the Sri Sutturu Math branch located at the foothills of Chamundi in Mysuru. As part of the nine-day festival, Navadurga idols were installed, and various rituals including abhisheka and Mahamangalarathi are being performed. Each evening, the divine story of Goddess Chamundi is recited.

On the auspicious day of Vijayadashami, a special pooja will be conducted for the sacred Banni tree (Shami tree). The dedicated staff of Sri Math actively participates in all the poojas and rituals, guided by the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

To ensure the safety and well-being of devotees and the public amid the COVID-19 pandemic, entry to the Sri Sutturu Math premises has been restricted as a precautionary measure.

The Lions Service Foundation handed over COVID medical equipment worth Rs. 51 lakhs, sponsored by the TATA Educational and Development Trust, to JSS Hospital, in the divine presence of His Holiness Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, at the Sri Sutturu Math, in Mysuru. On this occasion, the President’s Civil Defence Gallantry (Shaurya) Medal Awardee Dr. PRS Chethan was felicitated by His Holiness and Dr. K Sudhakar, Minister for Medical Education. Other dignitaries from Lions Club and JSS Mahavidyapeetha were present.

Paramapujya Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s 105th Jayanthi Mahotsav Celebrated

Bengaluru, Sept. 30, 2020: The 105th Jayanthi Mahotsav of the esteemed Paramapujya Jagadguru Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji was commemorated at the JSS PU College auditorium in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, on September 30, 2020. The event took place in a digital format, adhering to the necessary precautions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Dignitaries and participants attending the program in person maintained social distancing throughout the occasion.

The ceremony began with the plantation of a sapling within the institution premises and the unveiling of the ‘Sri Rajendra Sookthi Sudha’ information board. Smt. R. Jayakumari, Education Coordinator, along with heads of various departments from JSS Educational Institution, Jayanagar, Bengaluru, paid floral tributes to the portrait of Paramapujya Jagadguru Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji. Smt. Arathi R.V., Kannada lecturer, presented an invocation, and Smt. P. Nagamma, Assistant Teacher, extended a warm welcome to all attendees.

In her tribute to Paramapujya Swamiji, Smt. R. Jayakumari, Education Coordinator of JSS Educational Institution, Jayanagar, Bengaluru, expressed profound admiration for Swamiji’s immense contributions to society. She highlighted that Swamiji had joined Suttur Srimath at the tender age of 5 and took on the responsibilities of the Srimath when he was just 12 years old. She provided a brief overview of his life’s journey, including the establishment of free hostels and his selfless service to society.

“Noticing the growing number of students, Pujya Swamiji established educational institutions in various locations. He acquired a place called Anekaruhatti from Sri Jayachamarjendra Wadiyar, the prince of Mysuru. Despite facing financial constraints, he mobilized resources through his unwavering determination and dedication to serving society. The JSS Educational Institution has achieved its present stature due to his relentless commitment to providing quality education to all. Many eminent personalities of the state, such as Rashtrakavi G.S. Shivarudrappa, renowned economist Dr. D.M. Nanjudappa, and others, were also students of the JSS educational institution. Individuals like him are rare to find, and we should strive to follow in his footsteps and cultivate good habits,” she added.

As part of the program, an online essay competition on the topic “Role of Religious Institutions in our Educational System” and a quiz program were organized for first and second-year PU students. E-certificates were awarded to the winners.

Prizes were also presented to meritorious students during the event. Sri C. Shivarudraswami, Assistant Teacher at JSS High School, delivered the vote of thanks, and Sri Raghavendra T.R. served as the program’s compare.

Renowned Indian Woman Cricketer Rajeshwari Gaekwad Visits Suttur Srikshetra

Suttur, Sept. 26, 2020: Kum. Rajeshwari Gaekwad, a prominent player of the Indian Woman Cricket team and an alumna of JSS School, Suttur, paid a visit to Suttur Srikshetra on September 26, 2020, Saturday.

Upon receiving felicitation from JSS Free Residential School, Rajeshwari Gaekwad expressed her gratitude and shared her journey. She said, “During my time at this school, I may not have been particularly interested in sports, but I played kho-kho due to the encouragement of my physical instructor. It helped me gain physical fitness. By utilizing this opportunity properly, I was able to become a member of the Indian National Woman Cricket team and achieve something.”

“Coming from a rural background, I have been able to achieve this success with the blessings of Pujya Swamiji. I would like to take this moment to express my gratitude to JSS Institutions, which laid the foundation for my journey. It is a great honor and joy for me to visit Suttur Srikshetra today,” she added.

Empowering Mothers: National Nutrition Month Workshop Promotes Health and Well-being in Suttur

Suttur, Sept. 18, 2020: In line with the Government of India’s announcement of September as ‘Nutrition Month,’ a dedicated effort is being made to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition among mothers across the country. The objective of this campaign is to strengthen nutrition levels among women and children and eliminate malnutrition.

As part of this nationwide initiative, the ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, in association with IFFCO, Mysuru, organized a program on September 17, 2020, at its center in Suttur. The workshop aimed to educate anganwadi activists about the significance of nutrition, the consumption of fruits and vegetables for improved immunity, the types of food that can prevent anemia, and the importance of developing and maintaining kitchen gardens.

Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani, In-house Scientist at JSS KVK, shared valuable insights on the food that should be consumed to enhance nutrition levels. She emphasized the consumption of fruits and vegetables for increased immunity and highlighted the types of food that can prevent anemia. Additionally, she provided guidance on developing and maintaining kitchen gardens to ensure a sustainable supply of nutritious food.

Sri Shamraj, Farm Scientist at JSS KVK, shared practical information on methods for growing vegetables, fruits, and greens in a kitchen garden, including appropriate use of manure for optimal plant growth.

During the workshop, Sri Rafeek P.K., Field Officer from IFFCO, distributed seed kits to the attending anganwadi activists, supporting them in their efforts to establish kitchen gardens.

The workshop was attended by a total of 45 people, including anganwadi activists and JSS KVK staff members, who actively participated in the discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.

This initiative is a significant step towards creating a nutrition-conscious society and ensuring the well-being of mothers and children. By equipping them with knowledge and resources, the workshop aimed to empower mothers to make informed choices regarding their family’s nutrition.
