One-day training program on IIHR’s new varieties

Suttur, February 17, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigana Kendra, Suttur, had organized a one-day training program on IIHR’s new crop varieties. The participants were apprised about the new variety of technology information released from IIHR.

In his address, Sri Venkatakumar, Chief Scientist, IIHR, spoke about the new technologies and explained to the participants about the crop varieties and their importance.

Anathashankar, Chief Scientist, Vegetable Department, IIHR, explained in detail the new varieties of tomato, chilly, brinjal, watermelon, pumpkin, and other vegetables. He also informed the participants about various techniques of growing vegetable crops and the benefits available from vegetable seed production.

IIHR Scientist Senthil shared information about the mango, guava, papaya, butter fruit, and other fruit varieties released by IIHR and technologies.

In her address, Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist, and In-charge, JSS KVK, informed the farmers that they can get a good yield by using the various crop varieties provided by IIHR. She also informed them that they can undertake vegetable production and sell them in the market directly and increase their income.

Tomato, chilli, and brinjal seeds of the new varieties introduced by IIHR were distributed to the participants under the frontline demonstration program.

Dr. G.M. Vinay, Horticulture Scientist, JSS KVK mastered the program. About 15 progressive farmers from various taluks of Mysuru District and scientists Shamraj, Rajanna, Netravathi Yettinamani, Rakshitraj, Gangadhar Hipparagi of the JSS KVK participated in the program.

The scientists from IIHR visited the ICAR JSS KVK demonstration units and appreciated it.

A report on profitable goat and sheep farming

Suttur, February 17, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, had organized a three-day duration training program on ‘Profitable Sheep and Goat Farming,’ from 10.02.2022 to 12.02.2022.

In the inaugural address, Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist, and In-charge, JSS KVK, informed that the profitable sheep and goat farming training has a lot of demand. She requested the participants to strictly follow COVID guidelines and participate with interest and achieve progress in farming. She also provided details about the various functions of the Krishi Vignana Kendra and demonstration units. Sri Rajanna, a progressive farmer, from Tadimaalangi in T.Narasipur Taluk, advised the participants to take part in the training program with interest, and gain benefit.

In his address, Sri Shamraj, Cultivation Science Scientist, ICAR JSS KVK, explained the benefits of integrated farming methods and sheep and goat farming.

Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani, Home Scientist, JSS KVK mastered the program and also welcomed the guests and participants. Program Assistant, Sri J.G. Rajanna, Soil Scientist, JSS KVK gave a vote of thanks.

Dr. Rakshith Raju M., and Dr. Vinay G.M., Horticulture Scientist were present.

About 40 people took part in the training program.

Scientific livestock fostering training

Suttur, February 1, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra, Suttur, has organized a ‘Scientific Livestock Fostering Training’ program from February 1, 2022, to February 3, 2022.

The three-day training program was inaugurated today. In her inaugural address, Smt. H.V. Divya, In-charge Head, JSS KVK, and senior scientist opined that scientific livestock fostering training has a lot of demand. “I request the participants of this training program to follow all the COVID precautionary measures strictly and participate in the program with discipline and achieve progress in your profession,” she said. She also provided information about the various functions of the JSS KVK and demonstration units.

Sri Shamraj, Cultivation Science Scientist, JSS KVK spoke about the uses of sheep and goat rearing under the integrated farming methods.
A progressive farmer from Jeemaranahalli, Sri Mahesh participated in the program. Kumari Shilpa, Technical Assistant, Pulses program, ICAR JSS KVK was present.

Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani welcomed the participants and Dr. U.M. Rakshithraj, Veterinary Scientist mastered the ceremony and gave a vote of thanks. About 40 people are taking part in the training program.

JSS KVK services appreciated

Suttur, Suttur, January 30, 2022: “The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra scientists are very active. They visit the agricultural fields of the farmers regularly and guide them. They won’t hesitate to visit the fields whenever they are invited. They respond immediately and encourage the farmers who intend to get more yield,” opined Sri K.S. Mahadevaprabhu, a farmer who has won an award from the JSS KVK.

He participated in a program organized by the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra, in association with the Smt. Sundaramma Veerabhadrappa Foundation, of the Duggahatti Village in Yalandur Taluk, to felicitate the best performing farmer, as part of the Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji’s jatra mahotsav held at Suttur.

Prize-winning farmer Si Mahadevashetty expressed his happiness about the ICAR JSS KVK for encouraging the farmers to grow a better crop by recognizing and felicitating them.

In his address, Sri Siddalinga Shivacharya Swami of the Vatalu Math said, “the prize winners should become a model and guide other farmers. With the cooperation and guidance of the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra, I also grew 40 sacks of paddy in place of 25 sacks. The JSS KVK scientists conducted a Kshetrotsava (field day) and shared information about it. I will felicitate Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji for organizing such a beneficial program.”

Sri P. Veerabhadrappa, Chairman of the Sri Sundaramma Veerabhadrappa Foundation, felicitated the farmers. In his address, he said, “the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra has been organizing several beneficial programs  like training, demonstrations, field visits, etc., and is involved in providing required guidance, and encouraging the farmers to improve yield and quality of the crop.”

“The farmers should grow curry leaves, lemon, and other vegetables used daily and increase their earnings, besides improving their health,” he added.

Earlier, Smt. H.V. Divya, JSS KVK In-charge Head and Senior Scientist welcomed the guests and the gathering. She also introduced the prize-winning farmers. Senior scientists Sri Manjunath Angadi gave a vote of thanks. Program Assistant Sri J.G. Rajanna mastered the ceremony.

The pooja and other religious rituals as part of the Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji’s Jatra Mahotsav were held in the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, on January 30, Sunday, at the Suttur Srikshetra. Vatal Srigru, Heads of several maths, Haraguru Charamurthy, and others are seen in the picture.

ICAR JSS KVK to give away awards for farmers

Suttur, January 29, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, in association with the Smt. Sundaramma Veerabhadrappa Foundation of the Duggahatti Village, in Yalanduru Taluk has been identifying farmers in Mysuru and Chamarajanagara Districts who grow good quality crop and felicitates them by giving prizes, from several years.

Like every year, this year also a team of experts from the ICAR JSS KVK visited the agricultural fields of several farmers in Chamarajanagara District, and selected those farmers who have received good yield, to give prizes.
