JSS College, Mysuru, Graduates Day celebration on Feb. 19

Mysuru, Feb. 17, 2021: The JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science (Autonomous), Ooty Road, Mysuru, is celebrating the 13th Graduates’ Day, on February 19, 2021, Friday, at 10.30 am, at the Golden Jubilee Hall, in the college premises, in the Divine Presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. Dr. V.N. Balaji, Founder, Jubilant Biosys Limited, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru, will be Chief Guest and he will address the new Graduates. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, will preside over the function.
The students of the college who have passed degree and postgraduation examinations in the year 2019-20 are eligible to participate in this programme. A total number of 970 students, including 497 undergraduates, and 473 postgraduates, are expected to take part in this programme. 62 toppers will be honoured on the occasion.
The graduates are informed to register themselves before 9.00 am on 19.02.2021 to attend the function. Invitations have been mailed to all the students.

Embrace Change and Openness to New Experiences, Advises Smt. Bhramarambha

Kollegal, Feb 9, 2021: Smt. Bhramarambha, Convener of the Cultural Forum and Assistant Professor, encouraged students to adapt to the pace of the competitive world and embrace new knowledge and technology. She emphasized the importance of staying updated and focusing on individual talents during their student years. Smt. Bhramarambha expressed these views during the inauguration of the ‘Talent Hunt’ program for the academic year 2020-21, organized by the Cultural Forum of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal.

In her address, Smt. Bhramarambha highlighted the significance of the digital era and the necessity for proper utilization of the internet. She observed that while advanced science and technology have the potential to provide opportunities for students to showcase their talents, they can also hinder their development. She urged students not to overlook traditional and scientific entertainment activities while embracing technological advancements.

Prof. Umesh, the Principal of JSS Women’s College, presided over the program. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of platforms like the ‘Talent Hunt’ program for students to showcase their unique abilities. Acknowledging the pressures of syllabus and exams, he expressed his belief that such events would instill confidence and provide relaxation, especially considering the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. H.G. Natarajan, Prof. A.P. Mahadevappa, representatives of the Cultural Student Forum, Students Welfare Officer Prof. M. Basavaraju, and Class Representatives.

The ‘Talent Hunt’ program provided students with opportunities to showcase their talents and skills through various activities, including dance, singing, debate competitions, speech competitions, solo acting, cooking without fire, rangoli competitions, and more.

Proper Guidance Essential for Students: Sri A.P. Mahadevappa

Kollegal, Feb. 11, 2021: Sri A.P. Mahadevappa, IQAC Convener, emphasized the importance of proper guidance for students, stating that their potential can be harnessed through effective guidance from parents and teachers. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the ‘Abhivinyasa Program’ at JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, aimed at first-year Degree students for the academic year 2020-21.

Addressing the students, Sri A.P. Mahadevappa encouraged parents to provide vocational knowledge to their children, while urging teachers to impart professional skills. He advised the students to select subjects aligned with their interests and capacities, urging them to shape their own future based on their capabilities without succumbing to external pressures.

The event witnessed the presence of Sri Sampath, Assistant Professor in the History Department, who extended a warm welcome to the new students and briefed them on the various facilities available at the college. He emphasized the importance of utilizing these resources wisely and urged the students to bring glory to the college, their parents, and society, while also setting an example for others.

Sri Basavadatta Mahadevaprasad, Assistant Professor in the Commerce Department, provided detailed information about the post-graduation options available to the students. Additionally, he highlighted the educational and extra-curricular facilities provided by the college.

Sri Srinivas, the Librarian, showcased the exemplary library facilities of JSS Women’s College in Kollegal, emphasizing its status as one of the best libraries in the entire Chamarajanagara District. He guided the students on how to access and utilize the information center, computer lab, and E-Resource Centre.

Presiding over the program was Prof. Umesh, the Principal of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, stressed the significance of dedication and interest in achieving success. He emphasized the need for strong knowledge in English, general knowledge, and current affairs in today’s competitive world. Prof. Umesh further highlighted the importance of talent and skill in making knowledge meaningful, while encouraging students to choose a reputable college and cultivate a genuine interest in shaping their future.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Kum. Amrutha, followed by Smt. Suma skillfully anchoring the program.

Mysuru: The Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, GOI, in association with JSS Urban Haat, has organized an expo under the title ‘Gandhi Shilp Bazaar,’ at JSS Urban Haat in Mysuru. With the blessings of Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, writer Dr. S.P. Umadevi inaugurated this exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts, on January 29, 2021. JSS School in Suttur Commemorates 72nd Republic Day with Patriotic Fervor

Suttur, Jan. 26, 2021: JSS Educational Institution in Suttur organized a grand program to celebrate the 72nd Republic Day. Dr. D.R. Devarajamurthy, Medical Officer at JSS Hospital, Suttur, had the honor of hoisting the national flag.

During the event, Smt. G.S. Jagadambika, Co-Teacher at JSS Higher Primary School, enlightened the students about the background and significance of Republic Day celebrations. In her address, she emphasized that Republic Day marks the day when the constitution was put into effect. She highlighted the democratic nature of the country, where the citizens are the true rulers. Smt. Jagadambika spoke of India’s reputation for peace, harmony, and brotherhood and underscored the equal rights enshrined in the constitution for every citizen. She praised Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian constitution, describing it as a model for the world. Smt. Jagadambika further explained that Republic Day is also an occasion to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the nation in fields such as sports, literature, and other sectors, with prestigious awards like the Padmashri and Padma Vibhushan. She highlighted the role of the Hon’ble Supreme Court as the guardian of the constitution and emphasized that every citizen has the right to express their views on the government’s administrative system.

Prominent heads of various departments, including Sri Sampath, Dr. M.C. Nataraj, Sri G. Shivamallu, Smt. C.P. Nirmala, Sri B.M. Siddappa, Sri G.M. Shadakshari, and Sri Mahadevaprasad, were present at the event.

The program commenced with an invocation by the music teachers of the residential school. Smt. S.C. Yamuna extended a warm welcome, while Kum. B.P. Sheela delivered the vote of thanks. The program was smoothly anchored by Smt. B. Vedavathi.

Successful Paddy Field Day Showcases Direct Sowing and Integrated Crop Management Techniques

Suttur, Jan. 21, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Rice Research (IICR), Hyderabad, organized a productive ‘Paddy Field Day’ event at Maagudilu Village in H.D. Kote Taluk, Mysuru District, on January 21, 2021. The focus of the event was “Direct sowing from drum seeder and integrated crop management in paddy.”

The program was attended by esteemed individuals including Sri Satish S., In-charge Head, JSS KVK, Sri Shamraj, Cultivation Scientist, Dr. Venkatesh, Assistant Director, Agriculture Department, Mysuru, Sri Malelingaiah, Sri Basappa, leaders of Maagudilu Village, and representatives from the Janadhwani Community Radio.

During his address, Sri Satish S., In-charge Head, JSS KVK, shed light on several aspects related to paddy cultivation. He discussed the seed treatment method, its benefits, integrated disease and pest management, and emphasized the importance of cultivation methods, mechanization, and biological and chemical aspects of crop management. Sri Satish S. highlighted the advantages of direct sowing using the drum seeder method, which ensures proper air circulation, adequate sunlight exposure, and effective control of diseases and pests. He also stressed that this approach significantly reduces production expenses, benefitting farmers.

Sri Shamraj, Scientist, explained the land preparation process involved in direct sowing using the seeder, emphasizing methods of sowing, water and nutrition management, and overall crop management. He pointed out that the direct sowing method reduces production expenses by 40% while increasing yield by 60%, leading to higher profits for farmers.

Sri Marelingaiah advised farmers to gather information on timely utilization of modern technology, cost reduction in production, and the cultivation of multiple crops. Such knowledge, he emphasized, would contribute to increasing profitability.

Dr. Venkatesh, Assistant Director of the Agriculture Department, elucidated the various facilities and resources provided by the department, urging farmers to make optimal use of them for their benefit.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over 60 farmers and officers. Sri B.A. Basappa extended a warm welcome to all attendees and served as the anchor for the program. Sri M.K. Nagaraju delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude for the insightful discussions.
