Suttur, January 3, 2023: The JSS Education University (B.Ed. College), Suttur, had observed the National Poet Kuvempu’s Birth Anniversary ‘Vishwamanava Dina’, on 29.12.2022, by offering floral tributes to the portrait of Kuvempu.
B.Ed. Trainees Akshata, Anuja, Anjali and Nandana spoke on the life history, literary achievements, ‘Vishwamanava’ message of Kuvempu. Chetan, Pavitra and Jayalakshmi offered musical tributes.
Assistant Prof. G.N. Manjunath spoke on the significance of Kuvempu’s literature. College Principal Dr. H.M. Mahesh presided over the program and explained about the message of the national poet. Assistant Prof. K.V. Yogesh and B.J. Adarsh were present.
Kum. Monica rendered an invocation and Sri Nanjesh welcomed the guests and the gathering. Kum. Netra gave a vote of thanks and Kum. Sowjanya was the compere.
The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, in association with the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education and the JSS Polytechnic for the Differently-Abled, had organized the NSS annual special camp for the students of the JSS Polytechnic for the Differently-Abled, Mysuru, for the year 2022-23. Suttur, December 26, 2022: A cluster-level educational exhibition was conducted at the JSS High School, in Suttur, as part of the Suttur Jatra Mahotsav.
Cluster schools in Suttur, Hallikerehundi, Hullahalli, Mahadevanagara, and Nanjangud Girls High School took part in the exhibition, where 129 various models prepared by the students were demonstrated.
Prof. Sadashivamurthy, Prof. Mallappa, Sri Mariswamy, Prof. Siddaramaiah, Prof. Vijay Manjunathaguru, Prof. Kempannaswamy, and Sri Nagarajachar participated as the judges.
JSS MVP Education Officers Sri N. Renukaswamy, Subject Inspector Sri S.C. Channabasappa, Assistant Coordinating Officer Sri Veerabhadraiah, and school Headmasters, cluster high school students, and guides took part in the program.
Suttur, December 26, 2022: The Command Area Development Authority (CADA), Mysuru, Cauvery Basin Projects, Mysuru, Department of Veterinary Sciences, Mysuru, and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, Hassan, joined hands with the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, to celebrate Farmers Day at JSS KVK in Suttur on December 23, 2022.
Smt. H.T. Chandrakala, Joint Director of CADA, Mysuru, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In her address, she urged farmers to embrace integrated farming methods and diversify their crops to achieve financial stability.
Dr. B.N. Shadaksharamurthy, Deputy Director of the Department of Veterinary Sciences, Mysuru, emphasized the importance of animal husbandry in farmers’ lives. He stressed that livestock is an integral part of farming and encouraged farmers to develop an interest in animal husbandry and dairy farming. Dr. Shadaksharamurthy also highlighted a successful case where 340 cattle suffering from infertility disease in Tummanerale Village, Nanjangud Taluk, were treated and provided with free medicines.
Sri Omkarmurthy, Sales Officer from Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, Hassan, shed light on the cost-effectiveness of fertilizers for farmers. He explained that while a 45 kg fertilizer bag costs Rs. 2,340, farmers only pay Rs. 280 after deducting the government subsidy of Rs. 2,060. Sri Omkarmurthy advised farmers to use fertilizers based on soil examination reports to protect soil fertility.
Sri N.Y. Chigari, Chairman of the Rotary Srigandha Institute, Mysuru, expressed his admiration for farmers and their multifaceted work. He likened farmers to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, emphasizing their crucial role in feeding the nation. Sri Chigari called for respect and appreciation for the tireless efforts of farmers.
Presiding over the program, Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Incharge Head of ICAR JSS KVK, highlighted the significance of Farmers Day, celebrated annually on December 23 in remembrance of India’s fifth Prime Minister, Chowdhary Charan Singh. She stressed the need for farmers to adopt new and modern technologies in agriculture to enhance profitability. Smt. Divya also advised farmers to reduce dependence on fertilizers and explore the use of Nano urea.
The event witnessed the presence of Sri S. Mahadevu, Member of the Sugarcane Board, Sri Nagarajappa, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, and Dr. Nikhith, Veterinarian.
On this occasion, farmers Sri Narayan Rao Shinde from Hulyalu Village, Hunsur Taluk, Sri Chinnabuddhi from Danayakanapura, T. Narasipur Taluk, and Sri Sundarswamy from Bannahallihundi were felicitated for their notable contributions.
The program was inaugurated by Sri J.G. Ramanna, and Sri Shamraj served as the anchor of the program.
