Science Expo 2022-23

Suttur, November 23, 2022: The Directorate of Urdu and Other Minorities Languages Schools, School Education and Literacy Department, in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Bengaluru, District Education and Training Institute, Vasanth Mahal, Mysuru, and Sir M. Visveswaraiah Technical University, Bengaluru, proudly organized a district-level Science Exhibition at the DIET, Mysuru on November 18.

Participants from seven taluks in Mysuru District competed across seven categories, showcasing their scientific prowess. Among the talented candidates, V. Vinodkumar, a Science Teacher from our esteemed school, captivated the audience with his demonstration of the ‘Automatic Hand Sanitizer’ model, earning him the well-deserved first prize. His remarkable achievement has secured his spot in the highly anticipated State-level competitions.

The outstanding accomplishment by V. Vinodkumar has garnered praise and congratulations from the administrative officer, department heads, and fellow teachers alike. His dedication and innovative approach to science education are a testament to the exceptional standards upheld by our school.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to V. Vinodkumar for his remarkable success at the district-level Science Exhibition. “Students who are studying at Suttur are virtuous,” observed Sri Narayana Murthy, Founding member of Infosys.

Suttur, November 21, 2022: Sri Narayana Murthy, renowned entrepreneur and Founding Member of Infosys, expressed his admiration for the students studying at Suttur during a prayer meeting held at the JSS Residential School on November 21, Monday. Alongside his wife Sudha Murthy, he commended the school for providing free education and boarding facilities to students from diverse backgrounds.

Addressing the students, Sri Narayana Murthy acknowledged the JSS Residential School’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals by imparting quality education, in addition to offering free food and accommodation. He encouraged the students to work diligently, become conscientious citizens, and contribute to the nation and society. Sri Narayana Murthy also recognized the global impact of Sri Suttur Math’s educational institutions, which have extended their reach beyond national borders, providing invaluable education to students worldwide.

Smt. Sudha Murthy, Chairman of Infosys Foundation, recited a vachana (a form of devotional poetry) and emphasized the significance of concentration, hard work, and respect for teachers and elders in achieving personal goals. She stressed the importance of proper guidance and advice in today’s society.

Blessing the students, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji praised the modesty and down-to-earth nature of Sri Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy. He highlighted their remarkable journey, from selling their jewelry to establish Infosys, which has now grown into a globally renowned organization, employing over three lakh people. His Holiness also celebrated the Murthy couple’s son-in-law, Sri Rishi Sunak, who currently serves as the Prime Minister of Britain, a nation that once ruled India.

The event was attended by heads of various departments of the school and other dignitaries. Coordinating Officer Sri G.L. Tripurantaka warmly welcomed and skillfully managed the program.

Business Process Management Industries to be Set up Soon in Cities: Mr. Karthigan Munuswamy

Mysuru, November 18, 2022: Mr. Karthigan Munuswamy, Associate Director of Talent Acquisition at Firstsource Ltd., Bengaluru, expressed optimism about the future of Business Process Management (BPM) industries during a program on Skilling for BPM held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru. The event, organized in collaboration with NASSCOM-Futureskills and Firstsource Ltd., aimed to provide insights and opportunities for undergraduate students in the BPM sector.

Highlighting the impact of the Future Skills Program by the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) under the Skill India initiative, Mr. Munuswamy emphasized the potential boom in BPM industries and the resulting employment opportunities for young graduates in India. He highlighted the importance of communication skills, problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and business development skills, which would be in high demand in the BPM industry.

Mr. Vineeth Kumar, Senior Manager of Human Resources at Firstsource Ltd., provided a comprehensive overview of the BPM industry in India, including available opportunities, job roles, responsibilities, growth prospects, and the significance of stability and benefits across various levels within the BPM sector.

The program also featured industry experts from NASSCOM. Mr. Dinesh Kumar Panigrahi, Regional Lead at NASSCOM Bengaluru, provided an overview of the FutureSkills Prime program, while Ms. Priya George, Senior Manager at NASSCOM Bengaluru, highlighted the key features of the BPM Associate Programme. Mr. Sathish M., Customer Success Manager at FutureSkills NASSCOM, Bengaluru, presented training and placement activities specific to the BPM industry, with the presence of Ms. Palak from NASSCOM.

The esteemed Chief Executive of the College, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, extended a warm welcome to the guests and emphasized the role and importance of BPM in his address. Principal Prof. M.P. Vijayendra Kumar delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants.

The program witnessed the participation of approximately 50 teachers and over 500 final-year undergraduate students, demonstrating the strong interest and enthusiasm surrounding the BPM sector.

Children’s Day Celebrations at JSS Ayurveda Hospital

Mysuru, November 16, 2022: The Department of PG Studies in Kaumarabhritya, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru, organized a vibrant program in celebration of Children’s Day on November 14. As part of the festivities, a free medical checkup camp was conducted, benefiting the students of KRP Government School, Mysuru. A total of 40 children from 1st to 7th standards received comprehensive medical checkups at no cost.

The camp took place within the premises of JSS Ayurveda Hospital and was graced by the presence of Dr. Srihari S., Professor and Head of the Department of Kaumarabhritya, and Dr. Shashibindhu, NSS Coordinator of the college. Postgraduates and interns actively participated in the event. The dedicated medical team performed thorough checkups for the children, providing valuable advice on various health and hygiene aspects. The children were also given tips on maintaining their overall well-being.

To promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, various games and activities were organized, allowing the children to engage in both outdoor and indoor fun. The vibrant atmosphere created a wonderful opportunity for the children to socialize and enjoy themselves. The events were conducted by Dr. Jyothy K.B., Professor, along with Dr. Visal S. Kumar and Dr. Preethi H.M., Assistant Professors from the Department of Kaumarabhritya.

During the celebrations, prizes were distributed by Dr. Sarbeshwar Kar, the esteemed Principal of the college, to the winners of various competitions. Dr. Kar emphasized the significance of Children’s Day and provided insights into the rich lineage of Suttur Shri Guru Parampara. Chethana Medicaments from Kerala graciously sponsored gifts for the competition winners, adding to the joyous occasion.

The Children’s Day celebrations at JSS Ayurveda Hospital not only provided essential healthcare support but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and well-being among the children.

Suttur, November 14, 2022: The JSS Educational Institution, Suttur, commemorated Kannada Rajyotsava and Children’s Day with a program filled with cultural significance and celebration.

Dr. Bheemaraju Eeregowda, Assistant Professor at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research Academy, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of Kannada Rajyotsava, which is observed every year on November 1 to honor the contributions of individuals who have dedicated themselves to the welfare of Karnataka and the Kannada language. He described the language as sweet and easily accessible for learners, comparing it to the simplicity of peeling a banana or enjoying peeled sugarcane. Dr. Eeregowda emphasized the need to embrace the positive aspects of other languages while nurturing and developing Kannada. He urged everyone to cultivate a deep love for the language and strive to preserve its essence.

Senior advocate Sri D.B. Rajashekaramurthy, another distinguished guest, emphasized the rich history of the Kannada language, spanning over two centuries. He encouraged educators to prioritize the identification and promotion of students’ creativity and skills instead of solely focusing on academic performance.

During the event, meritorious students who achieved the highest marks in the 2021-22 SSLC exams were honored with cash prizes by the teachers. The Heads of various departments of the school, including Sri G.L. Tripurantaka, Sri Sampath, Sri G. Shivamallu, Sri M.G. Basavanna, Smt. C.P. Nirmala, Sri G.M. Shadakshari, Smt. P. Susheela, Sri Mahadevaprasad, and others, were also present to grace the occasion.

The program commenced with an invocation by the students, followed by a warm welcome by Smt. K.S. Mamatha. Smt. P. Roopa expressed gratitude in a vote of thanks, and Smt. Kavyashri expertly managed the program.

Description

The book gives glimpses into the life of Sri M. C. Mahadevaswamy, a doyen of Kannada Dramas. He worked for the Gubbi Theatrical Company for many years and later established his own drama company called “Kannada Theatres Private Ltd.” Sri Mahadevaswamy travelled throughout South India and established contacts with popular dramatists. He was conferred the title of “Natyakalavisharada” by the Maharaja of Mysuru for his contributions to the field of drama.  Prof. M. Nataraja, Retired Principal, Sarada Vilas College, Mysuru has depicted the stories of Sri Mahadevaswamy in an engrossing manner.
