Sri Nanjundaswami, a native of Mandakalli Village in Mysuru District exhibits the rare Hallikar breed bulls which he brought with him to sell at the Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Jatra Mahotsav held at Suttur Srikshetra. These pair of bulls are priced at Rs.8.50 lakh.

Constant Effort and Proper Preparation Key to Success, Says Regional Commissioner at Cultural & Sports Valedictory
Suttur, January 15, 2025: “We can find success in our lives only through constant efforts and proper preparation. Students should focus on proper learning and preparation in order to get success,” observed Sri D.S. Suresh, Regional Commissioner, Mysuru Division, at the valedictory function of the cultural and sports meet held at JSS PU College, Ooty Road, Mysuru.
Addressing the students, he said, “Along with lessons, extra-curricular activities are also required for the overall progress of the students. If you involve yourself in sports activities from a young age and develop a healthy mind and body, you can definitely achieve success in the future. You should not stop trying under any circumstances,” he advised.
In his address, the Chief Guest of the program, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, stated that cultural and sports activities play a vital role in shaping the future of students. “While cultural activities help students improve their intellectual strength, sports activities will help them improve their physical health and lead them towards success,” he added.
Another guest, K.M. Kantharaju, distributed the prizes. In his address, he noted, “In the adolescent age, students often have a fickle mind, which can lead to unexpected accidents. Hence, in order to prevent such incidents, students should actively participate in sports activities.”
Presiding over the program, Prof. R. Moogeshappa, Director, Department of Collegiate Education, observed that the decisions students take during their learning days will shape their future. “It is not possible to achieve anything without efforts. You can achieve success only through hard work and perseverance,” he said.
Earlier, the program commenced with an invocation by Kum. Aditi. S. Somashekar, Principal, welcomed the guests and the gathering. S. Nanjundaswamy, Kannada Lecturer, delivered the vote of thanks, and M. Shivakumar, Geography Lecturer, compered the event. Teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and students were present on the occasion.

Sky Watching Program Inspires Students at Suttur
Suttur, January 4, 2025: The JSS Science and Technology Knowledge Resource Center, Sri Sutturkshetra, in collaboration with Rotary Midtown, Mysuru, successfully organized a Sky Watching Program on January 3, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students of JSS High School, along with their teachers.
The program offered students a unique opportunity to observe the wonders of the sky through a telescope. Resource persons explained various celestial phenomena, including the Sun and its black spots, its movements, the Moon and its features, planets, satellites, the spectacular rings of Saturn, and other fascinating aspects of space.
Esteemed astronomer Dr. Prasad, Retired Principal of the Regional Institute, Mysuru, along with Sri Krishnamurthy, Retired Teacher, and Sri Atmananda, Principal of Rotary Midtown, Mysuru, served as resource persons for the event. They addressed students’ queries related to astronomical science and provided insightful explanations, making the session both engaging and educational.
The Sky Watching Program succeeded in sparking curiosity among the students and fostering a deeper understanding of the universe. Such initiatives reflect the commitment of Sri Sutturkshetra and Rotary Midtown, Mysuru, to promoting scientific knowledge and exploration among young minds.
Sri Suttur Math Inspires Differently-Abled Through Felicitation Programs
His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, KPSC member Sri Prabhu, Sri Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Mandya, Pontiffs of various maths, Kannada film actor Dolly Dhananjay, his fiancee Dr. Dhanyata and family members seen at the 1065th Jayanti Mahotsav of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji.
Suttur, December 29, 2024: Sri Jagadguru Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthan Math, Suttur, is empowering differently-abled individuals and instilling confidence through its thoughtful initiatives. This was highlighted by Dr. Banu Mushtaq during the 1065th Jayanti Mahotsav of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji. The grand event took place in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.
Addressing the gathering after distributing prizes to winners of various competitions, Dr. Banu Mushtaq remarked, “Differently-abled individuals serve as examples and inspiration for those who struggle with life’s challenges. The Suttur Math continues to contribute significantly to spirituality, education, and culture.”
Focus on Social Empowerment
Sri K.S. Rajanna lauded the Math’s principles of social reformation, stating, “It is commendable to see the Math identify and felicitate achievers in society. Differently-abled individuals require opportunities, not sympathy. Determination and focus can help overcome physical impairments to achieve success.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Sri D.K. Rajendra appreciated the Math’s efforts, adding, “The recognition given to individuals like us inspires us to take on greater responsibilities.”
Recognition and Cultural Contributions
Prominent personalities, including Smt. Sowmya Reddy, KPCC Women’s Wing President, and Smt. Jeeja Harisingh, DGP (Retd.), appreciated the Math’s service to society. Cultural highlights included vachana recitations by Sri H. Janardhan (Janni) and a ranga geethe presentation by Sri M.P. Raju.
The event also witnessed the felicitation of various dignitaries, including Sri Kenchaiah, Sri M.P. Rajanna, Sri Fazlu Rehman Khan, Smt. Malathisri, Smt. Premalatha Krishnaswamy, Sri Maddikere Gopal, and many others for their contributions across different fields.
Releases and Processions
The event marked the release of the ‘Suttur Sri Shivarathreeshwara Panchanga 2025,’ compiled by astrology expert Dr. K.G. Puttahonnaiah, along with Kannada and English Table Calendars published by the JSS Mahavidyapeetha.
A grand procession featuring the idol of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji paraded through the streets of Suttur, accompanied by vibrant folk art performances. The program also included a singing performance by the JSS Kalamantapa and the students and teachers of the JSS Free Residential School, Suttur.
Distinguished Participation
The event was graced by over 100 pontiffs from various maths, including Vatalu, Bettadapura, Chikkatuppuru, and others. Political leaders such as MLA H.M. Ganesh Prasad, A.R. Krishnamurthy, MLC Vivekananda, former MLA C.S. Puttaraju, and KPSC member Prabhu also attended, along with social worker Nishanth and thousands of devotees.
Well-Coordinated Program
The event commenced with an invocation by the students of the JSS Free Residential School. Prof. Morabada Mallikarjun delivered the welcome address, Sri B. Niranjanamurthy skillfully compered the program, and Sri Andaiah Shirurumath gave the vote of thanks, ensuring the event’s seamless execution.
