Tumakuru, Mar. 7, 2025: A grand and spiritually uplifting Pooja Mahotsav was held at the sacred shrine of His Holiness Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi Mahaswamiji on March 5, 2025, at the Sri Tondada Siddalingeshwara Swamiji Kaggere Tapokshetra in Kunigal Taluk, Tumakuru District. The event was marked by a series of divine rituals, including special poojas, Rudrabhisheka, elaborate alankara (decoration), and mahamangalarathi, drawing hundreds of devotees from Kaggere and surrounding villages.
The ceremonial idol of Sri Tontada Siddalingeshwara was reverently placed inside the sanctum sanctorum, adding to the sanctity of the occasion. The event was graced by officials from various departments of the Srimath and JSS Institution, Sri Veerabhadrappa and his family from Duggahatti, members of the temple’s administrative board, and a large gathering of devotees who came to seek blessings and participate in the sacred rituals.
The celebrations were further enriched by a soul-stirring Vachana recital program performed by teachers from the Suttur JSS Music School. The recital, which highlighted the profound teachings of His Holiness Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, left the audience spiritually inspired. The event concluded with the distribution of prasad, symbolizing the divine blessings bestowed upon the devotees.

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, the 11th pontiff of the Sri Suttur Math lineage, was a revered spiritual leader known for his deep commitment to societal welfare and spiritual enlightenment. Alongside Sri Siddalingeshwara of Yediyur, he played a pivotal role in uplifting communities through his teachings and social initiatives. His Holiness also left behind a rich legacy of Vachanas, which continue to inspire generations with their timeless messages on religion, spirituality, and literature.
The Pooja Mahotsav not only honored his divine legacy but also served as a reminder of his enduring contributions to society and spirituality. The event brought together devotees, scholars, and spiritual seekers, creating an atmosphere of devotion, unity, and reverence.
Mysuru, February 20, 2025: The Department of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa at JSS Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, in association with Biotics Lab, Bengaluru, successfully organized a Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Camp on Thursday, 20th February 2025, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
The camp aimed to raise awareness about bone health and osteoporosis prevention while providing free BMD check-ups and expert consultations. Professors Dr. Deepa C Patil, Dr. Beena M D, and Assistant Professor Dr. Anukrishna P led the initiative, offering specialized consultations to the patients.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 80 patients registering and benefiting from free BMD screenings. Representatives from Biotics Lab, Bengaluru were present throughout the camp, assisting in conducting the tests and ensuring seamless execution.
In the absence of Dean & HOD Dr. Rajesh A Udapudi, Dr. Deepa C Patil, Dr. Beena M D, and other consultants from the Department of Kayachikitsa extended their gratitude to Biotics Lab for their invaluable support and services.
Additionally, patients were educated on the importance of diet and lifestyle modifications to prevent and manage osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. The initiative reinforced the commitment of JSS Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital to promoting holistic healthcare and preventive medicine.
Suttur, February 27, 2025: The sacred festival of Maha Shivarathri was celebrated with immense devotion and grandeur at Suttur Srikshetra in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. The festival witnessed a series of special poojas, cultural programs, and spiritual activities, drawing thousands of devotees from far and wide.

Special poojas were conducted at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, along with Rudrabhisheka, Ashtottara, and Mahamangalarathi at the Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerbhadreshwara, Sri Nanjundeshwara, and Sri Narayanaswami temples. The Silver Chariot Praarkarotsava added to the spiritual fervor of the celebrations.
In a heartfelt gesture, devotees Sri Raghavendrarao and family sponsored the Try Fruits Tulaabhara Seva for the Sri Nanjundeshwara Nagabharana Silver Idol, symbolizing their devotion and gratitude.

Suttur, February 28, 2025: Students of the JSS Free Residential School, Suttur, were treated to an awe-inspiring free planetarium show on February 26, 2025, organized by the JSS Knowledge Resource Centre for Science and Techonolgy, in collaboration with Tare Zameen Par, Bengaluru, and Varnaaz Technology Centre.
The event provided over 500 students and teachers with a captivating journey through the cosmos. They explored the solar and lunar systems, learned about eclipses, satellite launches, the life cycle of stars and Earth, climate change, black holes, the movement of the Earth, the Big Bang theory, primordial black holes, neutron star supernovas, and more. The show not only sparked curiosity but also deepened their understanding of complex scientific concepts.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to make science education more engaging and accessible. More such planetarium shows are planned across the district in the coming days, offering free access to students from both government and private schools.
The JSS Knowledge Resource Centre for Science and Technology, established by JSS Mahavidyapeetha at Sri Sutturkshetra with support from the Science and Technology Department, Government of Karnataka, aims to foster interest in science and technology among students. The center features 44 indoor and 16 outdoor science models based on various scientific principles, providing hands-on learning experiences.
Since its inception, the center has benefited over 2,000 students from various high schools, offering them practical exposure to complement their classroom learning. This initiative underscores JSS Mahavidyapeetha’s commitment to making science education interactive, enjoyable, and impactful.

Suttur, February 20, 2025: The 19th instalment financial assistance transfer program under the PM Kisan Yojana is scheduled to be held on February 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM. As part of this program, a special dialogue on agricultural issues will be organized at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Suttur, Nanjangud Taluk, at 11:00 AM on the same day.
The session will provide an opportunity for farmers to discuss key agricultural challenges, advancements, and government support initiatives. Following this, the live broadcast of the PM Kisan Yojana financial assistance transfer program will be conducted at the KVK premises in the afternoon.
Farmers and women farmers are encouraged to participate in both the interactive session and the live broadcast in large numbers. This event serves as an important platform to gain insights into government schemes, financial aid, and modern agricultural practices.

Suttur, February 17, 2025: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Suttur, successfully conducted a three-day workshop on ‘Scientific Methods of Animal Husbandry’ to educate farmers on modern livestock farming practices.
Addressing the valedictory session, Dr. Shivanna, Joint Director, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Mysuru, emphasized the need to adopt scientific methods in animal husbandry to meet the increasing nutritional demands of India’s growing population. He highlighted the findings of the Indian Medical Research Centre, which recommend a daily intake of 300 ml of milk, half an egg, and 33 gm of meat per person for adequate nutrition.
Dr. Shivanna also informed farmers about the Government of India’s National Livestock Mission, which provides a 50% subsidy for sheep, goat, and swine farming, as well as fodder and animal feed units. He urged farmers in Mysuru district to take advantage of this scheme and apply online for subsidies and bank loans to promote self-employment.
Dr. H. Teggi, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Excellence Centre, encouraged participants to utilize government schemes to strengthen their economic position. Dr. Nagaraju, Assistant Director, Sheep and Wool Corporation, stressed that dairy farming has been instrumental in improving farmers’ financial stability and advised them to adopt scientific livestock farming techniques for higher profits.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jnanesh, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR JSS KVK, highlighted that the Kendra regularly organizes training programs, seminars, and workshops to support farmers in enhancing their income through modern agricultural techniques.
The event saw participation from progressive farmers, scientists, and over 65 farmers. Experts including Dr. Raghavendra, Dr. Vijeth, Dr. Chetan, Dr. Deepak, Dr. Rakshit Raj, and Sri Ashwatappa also contributed to the discussions.
