A Stress-Free Life Leads to Happiness, asserts Dr. B. R. Pai

Ooty, April 22, 2019: Dr. B. R. Pai, the esteemed speaker, highlighted the correlation between stress-free living and happiness during the second-day program of the retreat camp organized by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, in association with Sri Suttur Math and Sri Shivarathreeshwara Dharmika Datti. The event took place at JSS International School in Teetakal, Ooty, on April 20, 2019.

Dr. Pai drew attention to the alarming rise in cases of diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart-related ailments, emphasizing the prevalence of stress in today’s society. Stress, he explained, stems from the disparity between expectations and naturalness. When expectations increase, stress levels rise accordingly. There are both positive and negative forms of stress. Negative stress encompasses emotions like pain, anger, anxiety, outrage, sorrow, and jealousy, while positive stress includes mirth, laughter, gentle words, happiness, and the experience of nature’s beauty. Dr. Pai noted that mental stress, often more destructive than any atomic bomb, claims countless lives daily. He advocated for the adoption of yoga, pranayama, knowledge, and a positive attitude to overcome stress and face life’s challenges with a smile.

Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji of Jnanayogashrama, Vijayapura, began his discourse with a quote by Vokkalu Muddaiah, an agriculturist who led a contented life in harmony with nature. The Swamiji emphasized finding solace in nature and attaining inner peace. He encouraged individuals to prioritize internal cultivation and foster a sense of unity and peace within themselves.

Dr. M. R. Seetharam shed light on the vital relationship between the environment and human life. He stressed the need for a pollution-free environment, including clean air and water, to combat the rising mortality rates caused by diseases like heart attacks, cancer, and diabetes. Dr. Seetharam called for increased awareness among the public regarding the importance of maintaining a balanced environment through population control, afforestation, and pollution control.

The retreat program features daily prayer, yoga, and pranayama sessions, followed by traditional games in the evening. With over 125 enthusiastic participants from various districts, including Mysuru, Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hubballi, Chamaranagara, and Ramanagar, the camp is fostering a spirit of engagement and well-being.

An Ignorant Life Will Not Help You in Any Way, asserts Dr. Shivraj V. Patil

Suttur, April 11, 2019: Dr. Shivraj V. Patil delivered an enlightening lecture at the Retreat Programme organized for students of JSS Engineering, Dental, Ayurveda, and Pharmacy Colleges, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and mindful living. The event took place at Suttur, where participants gathered to gain insights into healthy habits and the significance of teamwork.

Dr. Patil stressed the power of psychophysical food habits in preventing diseases, highlighting the need to consume food as medicine rather than treating medicine as food. He advocated for maintaining cleanliness in body, heart, and soul, as diseases can only be cured with the blessings of Mother Nature. Encouraging a simple and thoughtful lifestyle, he advised students to opt for nutritious, cost-effective food choices.

Sri K.B. Subhash further elucidated the importance of conceptual knowledge over rote memorization. He emphasized the value of teamwork and the qualities required to be an effective team member. In his address, he emphasized the significance of working together and highlighted that unity is the cornerstone of India’s diversity. A team, he stated, is distinguished by having a common goal, differentiating it from a mere group.

The camp’s daily schedule features morning prayers followed by invigorating yoga and pranayama sessions. Participants actively engaged in sharing their opinions and experiences during the interactive sessions.
