Students of JSS Nursery and Higher Primary School, Suttur, enthusiastically participated in the Yellow Day celebration organised to introduce children to colours and create a cheerful learning environment. Administrator Shri S. P. Udayashankar greeted the students on the occasion. The principal and teachers were also present.
Students of Suttur JSS School won individual and team honours at the State-level Open Yoga Competition organised by G.K. Vinyasa Yoga Kendra and Sri Krishna Yogas, Mysuru. Also seen in the picture are the yoga masters, the school Principal, and the yoga asana instructors who guided the students.
Suttur, July 20, 2026: Students of Suttur JSS School delivered an impressive performance at the State-Level Mallakhamb Kreedotsava held in Dharwad, winning several individual and team awards.
A total of 16 students from the school participated in the competition, which was jointly organised by the Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, Dharwad District, and the Karnataka Amateur Mallakhamb Association, Lakshmeshwara.
In the team events, the boys’ team in the Under-14 category secured first place, while the boys’ team in the Above-14 category won second place. The girls’ team in the Above-14 category secured third place.
In the individual events, Ayush won second place, while Yashwanth secured third place.
The school management, headmaster and staff congratulated the students on their achievements. They also appreciated Mallakhamb instructor Shri Dundappa Dasanna for training and guiding the students.

Suttur, July 14, 2026: Sixteen Mallakhambh students from Suttur JSS School participated in the State-Level Mallakhambh Sports Festival held in Bengaluru and secured several individual and team honours.
The competition was organised jointly by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Bengaluru Urban District, and the Karnataka Amateur Mallakhambh Association, Lakshmeshwar.
In the individual events, Manoj secured first place. Sandeep and Ayush won second place, while Samarth secured third place.
In the team events, the boys’ under-14 team won first place. The boys’ above-14 team also secured first place, while the girls’ above-14 team won third place.
The management board, Headmaster and staff of the institution congratulated the award-winning students and Mr. Dundappa Dasanna, the Mallakhambh instructor who trained them, on their outstanding achievement.
Suttur, July 11, 2026: The Student Union activities of JSS Residential School, Suttur, for the current academic year were formally inaugurated at a programme held on the school premises.
Inaugurating the Student Union, Natyacharya Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao, Director of Nupur Dance School, Mysuru, described the institution as a spiritual and educational centre that earns respect for every student who studies there. He said students should cultivate courage, determination and a fighting spirit to face challenges in life.
Prof. Ramamurthy Rao observed that participating in different activities alongside academics broadens knowledge and helps students understand the art of living. Comparing the education system of the past with the present, he urged students to remain active and undertake every task with confidence and courage. He emphasised that curricular and co-curricular activities are equally important for the all-round development of students. Wishing them success, he encouraged the students to become responsible citizens, bring pride to the country and attain distinguished positions in life.
Dr. M.N. Nagendra Prasad, Dean of JSS University of Science and Technology, Mysuru, advised students to dream with purpose. Recalling the words of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he said, “Dreams are not what you see in sleep; dreams are those that do not let you sleep.” He also stressed the importance of gratitude and said students should always strive to give back to the institutions in which they studied.
Dr. Ashwini Prasad, Associate Professor at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, said that the leaders of the Student Union should serve as role models and guiding lights for other students. She urged them to find happiness in the happiness and well-being of others.
Dr. S. Harshavardhan, an alumnus of Suttur School, was felicitated on the occasion. Addressing the students, he said the school had been a source of inspiration in his life. He observed that students who have a clear goal, recognise their abilities and work hard can confidently achieve their ambitions. He advised them to use their time wisely and avoid bad habits and excessive use of social media.

Suttur, July 11, 2026: A training programme on scientific dairy farming was organised for Scheduled Caste farmers at the ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur village, Nanjangud taluk.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Aratabandhu Sahoo, Director of the ICAR–National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, said that farmers could earn higher profits from dairy farming by adopting scientific management practices.
He emphasised the importance of providing cattle with balanced feed and mineral supplements to ensure timely conception. He said the institute had developed a mineral mixture called Fortimin Plus for cows experiencing reproductive difficulties. Administering 70 grams of the mineral mixture daily could help such cows conceive within 60 to 70 days. He advised farmers to undertake dairy farming with the goal of obtaining one calf from each cow every year.
Presiding over the programme, Dr. B.N. Gyanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of the ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, encouraged farmers to adopt dairy farming as a supplementary activity alongside agriculture.
He advised farmers to provide cattle with quality fodder and ensure timely vaccination against diseases. Referring to the prevailing 40 per cent rainfall deficit attributed to the influence of El Niño, he urged farmers to store adequate quantities of dry fodder and cultivate as much green fodder as possible to meet the nutritional needs of their livestock.
As part of the programme, each of the 31 participating farmers was provided with five kilograms of Fortimin Plus mineral mixture free of cost.
Dr. K.S. Roy, Dr. Arangaswamy, Dr. Rajendran, Dr. Rakshitraj, Mrs. Divya, Dr. Vinay and Dr. Deepak attended the programme. Progressive farmers Mallesh and Nagarle Shivanna of Chunchanahalli village were also present. More than 30 farmers participated in the training programme.

In the essay writing competition, P. Dhanush, N.S. Priyanka and M.R. Pranathi of the Postgraduate Department of Commerce won the first, second and third prizes, respectively.
In the slogan writing competition, M. Vidyashree secured the first prize, M. Meghana won the second prize and M.R. Pranathi received the third prize.
