Suttur, April 9, 2025: “Camps are helpful in resolving mental stress and bringing peace of mind,” said Sri A. Devaraju, Commissioner, Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Mysuru, during the valedictory function of the teachers’ camp held at Sri Sutturkshetra.
Addressing the gathering, Sri Devaraju observed that everyone today is living under constant stress. “Mental strength and emotional stability are key to overcoming life’s challenges. Participating in such spiritual and reflective camps can ease pressure and offer inner peace. Teachers should also recognize the unique talents of their students and help them excel in their chosen paths,” he advised.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Amshi Prasannakumar, Resident Editor of Kannadaprabha (Mysuru Edition), noted that the current era is filled with opportunities. “Teachers must identify and make the best use of these opportunities, and in turn pass on this wisdom to students. They are the true architects of a healthy society, and their lives must become guiding examples. Camps like these are highly beneficial for teachers’ growth,” he stated.
Smt. H.M. Prema, Managing Director, Karnataka Textbooks Association, Department of School Education, emphasized the importance of character building. “In earlier times, students were taught moral values through stories and poems. But today, due to rapid technological advancements and the growing influence of western culture, our traditional values are fading. No amount of knowledge is meaningful without good character. Teachers must plant seeds of positive thinking in students. JSS Mahavidyapeetha has truly set a commendable example through such inspiring camps,” she remarked.
Dr. D.S. Guru, Head of the Department of Computer Science, University of Mysore, reflected on the slow evolution of humanity. “Transformation takes centuries. We must acknowledge the wisdom of our ancestors and nurture a positive mindset for a better life. With the rise of artificial intelligence, the education sector is undergoing major changes. Teachers must adapt and equip students accordingly,” he said.
Sri H. Shivanna Induvadi, retired teacher and State Resource Person, urged teachers to make learning dynamic. “Today’s students are drawn more toward mobile phones, cricket, and distractions, losing interest in studies. Teachers must give special attention to every student, recognize their talents, and encourage them meaningfully,” he advised.
Participants Smt. Shylaja, Sri H.M. Chetankumar, Sri Rajashekar, Smt. Gowrambika, Sri Dhananjaya, and Sri T. Yallappa shared their reflections on the camp experience.
The event began with an invocation by Sri N. Pradeep Kumar. Sri H.N. Ashok delivered the welcome address, while Sri N. Ramesh presented the camp report. Smt. Sowmya gave the vote of thanks, and the program was anchored by Sri C.M. Yoageesh.
