Suttur, April 21, 2025: “Youth must stay away from vices and dedicate themselves to knowledge and discovery,” said Mysuru Police Commissioner Smt. Seema Latkar while inaugurating a camp for pharmacy and life science students at Suttur Srikshetra.

In her address, she highlighted the importance of the scientific field and urged students to bring pride to the nation through innovation. “The youth have the power to shape the future of a nation. It is unfortunate that many are falling prey to cybercrimes, drug abuse, and other negative influences. Students should become law-aware citizens, read newspapers and magazines regularly, and expand their knowledge. Camps like these are not only informative but also offer peace of mind,” she remarked.

Dr. P.K.M. Prashanth, Managing Director of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd., emphasized resilience and discipline. “Obstacles should never deter achievement. Life declines in the absence of discipline. If your efforts are honest, divine support will follow. Avoid inferiority complexes. With a clear goal and the guidance of a mentor, success is certain. Just as food energizes the body, such camps nourish the mind. I attribute my success to the blessings of Sri Suttur Math and Param Pujya Jagadguru,” he said.

Smt. Parimala Jaggesh from Alamirap Nutrition, Bengaluru, spoke on the importance of health. “There is nothing more valuable in life than good health. In these competitive times, problems will arise—but solutions exist. They must be addressed calmly and without stress. Physical activity and a pure mind are key to a healthy and happy life,” she advised.

Dr. Nagamani S. Khandre reflected on India’s inclusive and value-based culture. “Indian culture treats everyone equally, despite our diversity. Our traditions are rooted in both scientific and spiritual wisdom. Concepts like Matrudevobhava, Pitrudevobhava, Acharyadevobhava, and Atithidevobhava are central to our way of life. While we can respect Western culture, we must never become its slaves. Instead, we must preserve, nurture, and emulate our own cultural heritage,” she asserted.

Dr. Venkatesh B. Kulkarni emphasized the therapeutic power of Indian classical music. “Our music is unique. Listening to it brings mental calmness and physical well-being. Classical music uplifts the spirit and can help achieve mental stability. It even holds healing power for several ailments,” he explained.

The camp saw enthusiastic participation, with 140 students engaging in mass prayers and yoga in the mornings and enjoying desi games in the evenings. Cultural programs were held after evening prayers, adding joy and vibrancy to the experience.

The program began with a prayer by Ms. K. Varna. Dr. Anandkumar Tengali delivered the welcome address, Dr. H.N. Vishwas proposed the vote of thanks, and Dr. K.L. Krishna skillfully compered the event.
