Training Program on Manufacturing Products using Indigenous Cow Dung and Urine

Suttur, January 12, 2022: In celebration of the 75th Indian Independence Day, the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra in Suttur organized a comprehensive training program on manufacturing a range of products using indigenous cow dung and urine.

The program, aimed at empowering self-help group women, was conducted by Smt. Netravati Yettinamani, Home Scientist at JSS KVK. Smt. Yettinamani provided valuable insights into the significance of indigenous cows and their medicinal qualities. She explained in detail the manufacturing process of various products, including Vibhuti, Agarbathi sticks, Mosquito Coils, as well as phenyl and shampoo using cow urine.

The training program featured a live demonstration of preparing vibhuti using cow dung and phenyl using cow urine, allowing participants to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience.

A field visit was organized following the training program, providing participants with the opportunity to explore JSS KVK’s demo horticulture crop, nursery, vermicompost unit, vibhuti manufacturing unit, earthen pots making unit, and food processing unit. The visit facilitated a deeper understanding of these industries and their potential.

Approximately 40 women from the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Society in Nerale, along with self-help groups from the Badanavalu villages, actively participated in the program, furthering their skills and knowledge in the manufacturing of eco-friendly products.

Key dignitaries, including Smt. Bhagya, Coordinating Officer of the Gnanavikas Scheme at the Srikshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Society, Nanjangud Division, Smt. Ashwini, work representative of Badanawalu Village, and Smt. Mahadevamma of Nerale Village, were present during the event, lending their support to this initiative.

The training program on manufacturing products using indigenous cow dung and urine proved to be a valuable platform for promoting sustainable practices, empowering women, and exploring the vast potential of indigenous resources.
