“There is a boundless cultural relationship between India and Chicago,” says His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji

Mysuru, September 17, 2022: His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, a prominent spiritual leader, expressed the profound cultural connection between India and Chicago during his participation in the Satsang program held on September 15th in Chicago, USA.

Reflecting on the historic speech of Swami Vivekananda delivered in Chicago, His Holiness Swamiji emphasized the enduring impact of that momentous event. He stated, “No cultural, literary, or traditional lecture programs or speeches can be complete without acknowledging Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech in Chicago. It was in Chicago that Indian culture was presented to the entire world, captivating people with the spirit of brotherhood. Hence, Chicago holds a special place in this cultural relationship.”

His Holiness continued, “There is only one god, but he has several names,” echoing the beliefs shared by numerous visionaries, saints, and spiritual leaders. Quoting the poet Harihara, he conveyed, “Satyavembude Haranu, Haranembude Satya,” which translates to “Truth is God and God is Truth.” He emphasized that God is omnipotent, universal, and embodied in virtues while being formless and ever-present.

Reflecting on the power of nature, His Holiness noted, “In certain circumstances, human efforts become insignificant compared to the forces of nature. Belief holds immense importance for mankind, and we exist today based on our beliefs. We should remember God sincerely and engage in our endeavors with earnestness. Cultivating an attitude of ‘We’ instead of ‘I’ and respecting others’ words and opinions are essential. Embracing religion and spirituality can bring happiness to our lives.”

The event also featured notable speakers, including Retd. Judge Sri Eshwar Antina, who shared insights, and Sri R. Mahesh, who presented the activities of the JSS Spiritual Mission. Sri Supriya Antina welcomed the guests, while Sri Amit Kajjaragi expressed gratitude with a vote of thanks. The event commenced with an invocation by Sri Shashidhar Kalluru and Kum. Dhyana.
