Sri H.B. Devanna Advocates for a Meaningful Life in Shravana Masa Discourse

Suttur, August 31, 2024: On the 28th day of the Shravana Masa discourse program at Sri Sutturkshetra, Sri H.B. Devanna urged devotees to lead meaningful lives without causing harm to society. He explained the importance of consciousness, a unique human trait, and stressed that life must be used to gain knowledge, wealth, and virtues. Quoting Purandaradasa, he emphasized the value of life and the need for self-reflection. He outlined the four stages of life, advising that charity and helping others are vital to achieving a life of purpose and spiritual fulfillment.

According to Sri Devanna, the first stage of life should focus on acquiring knowledge, the second on earning wealth, and the third on understanding spirituality and engaging in philanthropic efforts. Failure to properly dedicate oneself during these stages, he warned, leads to hardship in the final stage of life. He emphasized that human birth is a divine gift, and individuals must seize the opportunity to live virtuously, offering food, water, and other help to those in need. Even if unable to help directly, one should at least avoid causing harm.

The program commenced with a prayer and included a poem recitation by Sri D.M. Siddalingaswamy. Several prominent devotees, including Dr. M.C. Nataraju, Sri K.V. Yogesh, Sri B.S. Shivamallappa, Sri Shivamallappa, Smt. G.M. Gayathri, and Sri G.S. Mallanna, performed sevartha. The discourse attracted numerous devotees and spiritual aspirants who participated actively.
