Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan Applauds Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji as a Visionary Socio-Spiritual Leader

Mysuru, August 30, 2021: Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Information and Broadcasting, praised the esteemed Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji as a visionary and socio-spiritual leader dedicated to the holistic development of humanity through the propagation of education worldwide.

Dr. Murugan graced the auspicious occasion of the 106th Jayanthi Mahotsav of Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji and the inauguration ceremony of ‘JSS Radio 91.2 FM,’ a Community Radio Station. The event took place at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, located on Ooty Road in Mysuru, in the divine presence of His Holiness Parampujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji on August 29, 2021.

During the ceremony, Dr. Murugan inaugurated the JSS Community Radio 91.2 FM Station and the 106th Jayanthi Mahotsav by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his address, he recognized JSS Mahavidyapeetha as one of the largest and most reputable institutions in the fields of social, cultural, and educational endeavors. He praised the establishment of the JSS Community Radio Station as another significant milestone towards serving society. Dr. Murugan expressed his hope that the radio station would fulfill the aspirations of Swamiji in a manner befitting his vision.

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji conveyed his blessings, acknowledging the auspicious coincidence of the JSS Radio Station’s inauguration on the joyous occasion of the 106th Jayanthi celebration of Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, taking place at the first college established by JSSMVP. Swamiji highlighted Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s contributions, not only to humanity but also in various other domains, including education, art, culture, literature, and music. Swamiji praised the visionary nature of Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, who followed in the footsteps of his predecessors to foster comprehensive societal development.

Presiding over the program was MLA and former Minister Sri S A Ramadas, who expressed his pride in inaugurating the JSS Radio Station exactly a century after the establishment of the country’s first radio station in the city of Mysuru. He emphasized that the programs broadcasted through the JSS Community Radio would be beneficial to the entire Mysuru community and its surroundings.

MLA Sri Tanveer Sait referred to the event as a historical milestone, citing examples of other century-old institutions in Mysuru such as Mysuru Akashavani, University of Mysore, and KR Hospital. He also acknowledged the significant contributions of Suttur Srimath in the field of education.

Prof. G Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, highlighted the institution’s dedication to public health improvement, rural development, and the upliftment of vulnerable sections of society. He recognized the power of radio as a potent tool for creating awareness and promoting active community participation.

The logo of JSS Radio Station was released by Smt. Sunanda Palanethra, Worshipful Mayor of Mysuru City Corporation. In her address, she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the function, as it marked her first public program since assuming office.

Sri A Venkateshwara, Director General of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, South Zone, released the JSS Radio 91.2 FM App.

Distinguished guests, including MLAs L Nagendra and Sri M Shivanna, Dr. Bagadi Gowtham, District Commissioner of Mysuru, and Dr. C G Betrsurmath, Executive Secretary of JSSMVP, were also present at the event.

The program commenced with an invocation by JSS Lalitha Kala Vrunda and was expertly compered by Dr. S Suhas.
