Suttur, September 10, 2025: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Suttur, in association with ODP, Mysuru and the Chandramouleshwara Women Producers Society, Madapura (H.D. Kote Taluk), organised a training programme for women farmers on processing of agricultural crops, value addition, and entrepreneurial opportunities under the TSP (Tribal Sub Plan) scheme, Govt. of Karnataka, and the PMFME (Prime Minister’s Micro Food Processing Enterprises) scheme, Govt. of India.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. B. N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur. In his address, he urged women farmers to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, prioritise value addition in agricultural and horticultural produce, make effective use of State and Central government schemes, and work towards doubling their income.
Chief guest Smt. Lalitha, Programme Coordinator, ODP, Mysuru, congratulated ICAR JSS KVK for organising training and awareness programmes on processing of food articles from agriculture and horticulture. She encouraged participants to utilise such programmes fully, spread awareness among other farmers, and enhance profits and enterprises through collective effort.
Another chief guest, Smt. Lavanya, CEO, Chandramouleshwara Women Producers Society, Madapura, emphasised that self-reliance for women is best achieved through entrepreneurship.
Dr. Deepak, Home Science Subject Expert, ICAR JSS KVK, delivered a technical session on preparing a wide range of products, including millet cookies, bread, buns, pasta, noodles, and other bakery items, as well as traditional products such as ragi papad, millets malt, ragi unde, ragi mixture, sandige, and more. He also provided comprehensive information on subsidies available from the State and Central governments under the PMFME scheme, and outlined the types of food processing units that can be established under this programme.
A live demonstration on the preparation and value addition of products like ragi cookies, ragi mixture, and ragi papad was conducted.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Vinay G. M. It was anchored by Smt. Divya H. V., and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prasad Y. P. More than 35 women farmers and Self-Help Group (SHG) members participated and benefited from the training.
