ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, Mysuru District – A Note on KVK Golden Jubilee Celebration

The Center for Agricultural Sciences, Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s (KVKs), an integral part of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS), aims to evaluate location specific technology modules in agriculture and allied industries through technology evaluation, refinement and demonstration. KVKs are acting as a knowledge and resource center on agricultural technology supporting public, private and voluntary sector initiatives to improve the agricultural economy of the district.

The first KVK was established in 1974 at Puducherry. A total of 731 KVKs are currently operational in India. To achieve technological and administrative coordination with KVKs, Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI) has been established, divided into 11 zones across the country, and given in-charge of KVKs. The states viz., Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep comes under Zone-11.

Hence, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) of New Delhi has decided to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of KVKs at the National Conference of KVKs. The ICAR Director General has directed to all ATARIs of zones that the golden jubilee torch travel all the KVKs throughout India and reach to New Delhi.

The Mysuru KVK has receiving the Golden Jubilee torch on 13.08.2024 from KVK, Kodagu at Host Organization JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru by Dr. Betsurmath Executive Secretary, Sri Manjunath, Secretary-1, Sri. N.M. Shivashankarappa, Director (Horticulture) and others.

Later the Golden Jubilee torch moved towards Shrikshetra, Suttur where the ICAR JSS KVK is situated.
