Five-Day Mushroom Farming and Value Addition Train-ing Held at ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur

Suttur, November 25, 2025: A five-day Mushroom Farming and Value Addition Training Pro-gramme was organised at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, in collaboration with the Ag-ricultural Technician Management Institute of the Department of Agriculture, ICAR, Mysuru.

Dr. N. N. Asha, Assistant Professor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya, who arrived as the chief guest for the programme, provided detailed information on different varieties of mush-rooms and the environmental conditions required for successful cultivation, including tempera-ture, humidity, moisture and hygiene.

Addressing the participants, Smt. Lalitha, a progressive farmer, said that mushroom cultivation has emerged as an industry in recent times and is a good income-generating activity for rural communities. She added that both urban and rural women and youth can enhance their additional income by cultivating mushrooms in their spare time.

Presiding over the programme, Dr. B. N. Gyanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, JSS KVK, called upon farmers and farm women to adopt mushroom production as a supplementary enterprise alongside their regular agricultural activities. He stressed the importance of taking value addition training from skilled experts to add value to mushrooms and pointed out that good profits can be achieved through this.

Dr. Deepak extended a warm welcome, Dr. Y. P. Prasad delivered the keynote address, and Mr. Shamraj proposed the vote of thanks.

A total of 42 farmers and farm women from various taluks of Mysuru district participated in this five-day training programme.
