Suttur, November 21, 2025: A five-day Agricultural Technician and Agricultural Machinery Repair Skill Training program, organised by ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, in collaboration with the ATMA Project, Agriculture Department, Mysuru, and VC Farm, Mandya, concluded successfully today. The training was held from 17 to 21 November 2025 at the ICAR JSS KVK campus.
Addressing the valedictory programme, Dr. B. S. Basavaraju, Joint Research Director, University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya, highlighted the growing shortage of labour in the agricultural sector and emphasised that researchers have developed various farm machinery to support farmers. He urged farmers to adopt these technologies to improve productivity and maximise benefits.
Shri N. M. Shivashankarappa, Director of Rural Development, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, said the training was designed to empower farmers to use and repair agricultural machinery independently, and expressed satisfaction that the participants had made good use of the opportunity.
Presiding over the event, Dr. B. N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, JSS KVK, advised farmers not to depend on a single crop but to embrace a holistic farming system. He stressed the importance of both effective utilisation and timely repair of agricultural machinery, and encouraged participants to share their newly acquired skills with fellow farmers in their respective areas.
Trainer Smt. Sridevi, Professor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya, also participated in the programme.
Farmers Shri H. D. Ramesh, Shri Shafiullah, and Shri Girish shared their experiences and impressions of the five-day training.
The event was attended by Shri S. J. Hemanth, Assistant Technical Manager, Agriculture Department, Mysuru; Smt. H. V. Divya; and Dr. Deepak. A total of 42 farmers from various taluks of Mysuru district benefited from this specialised training programme.
