Suttur, November 20, 2024: “Educating children is equivalent to devotion to God,” remarked Sri Basavakumar Patil, Founder of Kalyana Karnataka Pratisthana, Bidar.
He was speaking at a program held at the JSS Free Residential School in Suttur, as part of the 63-day-long ‘Akshara Jyothi Yatre,’ organized by Sri Suttur Math. This initiative is part of the ‘Karnataka Suvarna Sambhrama-50’ celebrations, focusing on the State’s golden jubilee and extending particularly to the border districts.
In his address on the Importance of Education, Sri Basavakumar Patil emphasized that education alone has the power to build a strong and productive human resource for the nation. He encouraged students to seek guidance, draw inspiration, and cultivate good character, ultimately becoming responsible and valuable citizens.
Quoting renowned poet Da. Ra. Bendre, he noted, “Education is like light, essential for everyone. A life without education is shrouded in darkness. Hence, enlighten yourself and your families.” He urged students to harbor interest, foster dreams, stay motivated, and make consistent efforts to achieve their goals. “Dream of touching the sky, and even if you don’t, you will at least scale a mountain. Dream big, and build the strength to pursue and achieve your aspirations,” he added.
The event also featured other distinguished speakers, including State award-winning teacher Sri Pandit Baloore, retired Canara Bank officer Sri Shivajirao Mane, and Sri Veerabhadraiah, the Coordinating Officer of JSS Educational Institutions.
The program was attended by hostel wardens Sri Mahadevaprasad and P. Susheela, caretakers, and thousands of enthusiastic students. The students began the event with an invocation, while hostel warden Mahadevaprasad extended a warm welcome to the guests and served as the program’s master of ceremonies.
