Suttur, April 17, 2025: “Doctors are like rays of hope for good health,” remarked Sri Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, during the valedictory program of the Medical-PG Students and Dental House Surgeons camp held at Sri Sutturkshetra.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Alok Kumar emphasized the importance of selfless service in the medical profession. “Doctors should carry out their duties with honesty and dedication. History has shown us their sacrifice, especially during the world wars. Have a clear vision for your goals, believe in your capabilities, and contribute meaningfully to society. The vachanas of Basavadi Sharanas serve as ideals for us. Like the police, doctors too must serve without looking at the clock,” he advised.

Sri G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, expressed concern over rising stress levels among medical students. “Life is uncertain, and we are witnessing increasing anxiety among youth in the medical field. Life is always greater than any circumstance. My sincere advice is—don’t succumb to pressure, but continue your duties with strength and resilience.”

Dr. Timmappa Hegde, Director and Neurologist at Narayana Institute of Neurosciences, urged students to embrace peace and emotional balance. “Let go of pressure, anger, and anxiety. Don’t mix personal and professional life. Cultivate the strength to face challenges calmly. Teachings from the Bhagavad Gita and spiritual practices can be valuable tools for inner peace,” he suggested.

Dr. Gopalan Jagadish, Professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, reflected on India’s cultural richness. “Nowhere in the world can you find the kind of family bonding we have in India. We’ve inherited qualities like patience, restraint, and compassion—mothers are our first inspiration. Learn to find joy in small moments and appreciate the natural beauty our country offers,” he noted.

The program also featured reflections by participants including Dr. Sakshi Patel, Dr. Nishank Cariyappa, Dr. Y. Avinash Prasad, and Dr. Shreya Shinde. Dr. K.B. Suma presented the camp report, and Dr. P. Swasthrishri offered the invocation. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. K.B. Chetak, while Dr. S. Suma gave the vote of thanks. Dr. P. Ashok served as the master of ceremonies.
