Certificate Distribution Program Held for CCINM Training Course at JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra

Dr. Y.N. Shivalingaiah, Director of Extension, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, inaugurates the Certificate Distribution Program of the CCINM course for staff members of Cooperative Societies from Chamarajanagara and Mysuru districts, held at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, JSS KVK, Sri J.G. Rajanna, and KVK staff.

Suttur, June 26, 2025: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), in association with the National Agricultural Extension Management Institute, Hyderabad, the Bengaluru Chapter of the Staff Training Institute–SAMETI (South), and the Extension Directorate, University of Agricultural Sciences, jointly organized a Certificate Course in Nutrition Management (CCINM).

The training program was conducted in three batches at JSS KVK between August 2025 and October 2025, and trained a total of 90 participants. The Certificate Distribution Ceremony was held on June 26, 2025 at the JSS KVK campus.

Dr. Y.N. Shivalingaiah, Director of Extension, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, inaugurated the program. In his keynote address, he urged the trainees to act as technical agents, equipping farmers with complete scientific and technical knowledge. He emphasized the importance of educating farmers on the use of nano fertilizers and water-soluble fertilizers, and recommended crop diversification during monsoons to protect soil health.

Dr. R. Narayanareddy, State Nodal Officer (Desi) and Coordinating Officer, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, SAMETI (South), advised trained staff to function as part-time agricultural extension officers. He stressed the need to provide timely and accurate information to farmers regarding fertilizers and pesticides, which would help reduce overall production costs.

Smt. Jyothi Urs, Deputy Manager, Chamarajanagar District Cooperative Societies, in her address as Chief Guest, encouraged trainees to keep in regular contact with scientists to learn about new seed varieties and fertilizers, and to effectively communicate these advancements to farmers.

Presiding over the program, Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSS KVK, highlighted the need to protect soil fertility as a foundation for sustainable farming. He encouraged the use of bio-fertilizers such as Rhizobium, Pseudomonas, and micro-nutrients, and advised farmers to conduct soil testing at least once every two years. He urged the trainees to share knowledge on soil health and the benefits of soil testing with fellow farmers and reminded them that JSS KVK scientists are always available for consultation.

The program was attended by all 90 trainees who had successfully completed the course. Sri J.G. Rajanna delivered the introductory note, Dr. Deepak welcomed the guests and audience, Sri Shamraju delivered the vote of thanks, and Dr. Y.P. Prasad served as the master of ceremonies.
