Suttur JSS Higher Primary School bags overall prize in hobli-level sports meet

Suttur, August 03, 2019: The Biligere Hobli-level Sports Meet was held in JSS School, Suttur. Fifty girls and fifty boys of the JSS Higher Primary School took part in various sports and helped the school in bagging overall prize.

Winners in Boys category:

Karthik Kumar Mehato (1st place in shot put & disc throw), Prajwal S. (1st place in 100 m and 200 m running), Bhuan N.M. (1st place in 400 m), Harshkumar Mehato (1st place in high jump) and Vinay T.S. and team (1st place in 4×100 m relay).

Winners in Girls category:

Kowsalya (1st place in 100 m long jump and 2nd in 200 m), Riba (1st place in shot put and high jump), Daivi (1st in 400 m), Ibamary (2nd in 600 m), Bidyapathi (2nd in disc throw), Kowsalya and team (1st place in 4×100 m Relay).

While Karthik Kumar Mehato and Prajwal S. won individual championship in Boys category, Kowsalya and Riba Pin Ullang won the individual championship prize in Girls category.

In group games, the Boys category won in Throwball (1st), KhoKho (1st), Kabaddi (1st), Volleball (2nd), and in Girls category the Throwball team won (1st), KhoKho (1st), Kabaddi (1st), and selected for Taluk-level sports meet.

Sri S.P. Udayashankar, Administrative Officer, Head of various departments of the school and Head Master have congratulated the students who won the overall prize and also the physical instructors who trained them.

Shravanamaasa Discourses begin at Suttur

Suttur, August 2, 2019: The Raghavanka Virachita ‘Harishchandra Kavya’ discourse program that is held every year during Shravanamaasa, was inaugurated at the Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math.

Sri M. Mahanteshappa, Joint Director, Agriculture Department inaugurated the program and expressed his view that the Shravanamaasa is a season of progress. “But, due to the continuous attack on nature by man, nature appears to be angry. As a result, we are not witnessing rains even during this season,” he expressed his anguish.

Ni.Pra.Swa.Sri Appaji Swamiji of the Sri Basavajyothi Math, Dindagaadu, Periyapatna Taluk presided over the program. “The Shraavanamaasa is the beginning of the festival season. The Suttur Srimath has been providing spiritual knowledge to the devotees by conducting discourses every year throughout this auspicious season, which is appreciable” he observed.

Chief guest Sri H.M. Nagaraju, Joint Director, Horticulture Department, Mysuru, in his address said, “We shouldn’t postpone good works. If we keep postponing good works our entire lifespan will end. It is better to make firm decisions about anything instead of keeping thinking about the past or the future.”

Dr. C.G. Ushadevi, Professor (Retd.) gave a discourse on ‘Harischandra Kavya’. Prof. H. B. Devanna, Professor, JSS College, Smt. Shyla Siddaramappa, Mysuru Akashavani artiste and others were present on the occasion.

The JSS School students gave an invocation. Teachers Sri P. Rachappa welcomed, Sri P. Chetan gave a vote of thanks and Sri G.M. Shadakshari compered.

Bheemana Amavasya special pooja: Special poojas were offered to the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji, and Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerabhadreshwara and Sri Nayarayanaswamy temples since morning.

Yoga Achiever

 Selected for Divisional level: Megha Mahantesh, a 10th standard student of the JSS High School, Sutturu, participated in the District-level Yoga Competition organized by the Department of Public Instructions, in Mysuru, and has been selected to participate in the Divisional-level Competition. The Head Master and teachers of the school have congratulated her and have wished her best of luck.

Knowledge is that which creates awareness – Shankar Devanuru

Mysuru, July 29, 2019: “If parents are like earth and water to the students, teachers are like air and light. Life should lighten up. Light is a symbol of awareness and knowledge. Life should become like a flower that emits fragrance from where it is. As Basavanna told, life is bowing down, not being proud, we should try to identify our own drawbacks and mend ourselves instead of attempting to mend others,” opined Shankar Devanuru, Chief Engineer, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited.

He participated in the inaugural function of the Cultural Forum and Sports Activities 2019-20, held on July 27, Saturday, at the JSS PU College, B.N. Road, Mysuru. In his address to the students he said, “Knowledge is that which creates awareness. Cultural programmes increases our awareness levels. Our lives will become happier when we adopt various activities in our lives like art, music, sports, etc. A society absent of human values and culture will not progress.”

He called upon the students to stay away from mobile phones and advised them to not destroy their lives by developing bad habits and requested to give respect and bring honor to teachers and parents.

In his introductory speech, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the JSS College Complex said, “Real education is that which helps the students to develop a good personality. Educational institutions should help the students to develop knowledge, creativity and talent. Along with curriculum, extra-curricular activities are also important for overall development of the students.  The JSS College provides education facilities from PUC to PhD and students should utilize the opportunity and make good achievement and try to identify themselves at the international level.”

Chief guest Kum. M. R. Dhanusha, International Athlete in her address opined, “Educational institutions should encourage sports along with regular education, which helps for both physical and mental development of the students. Students should also develop interest towards sports without limiting themselves to studies.”

Smt. K. Jyothi, CEO, ZP, Mysuru, presided over the programme. “Your life should begin by moving towards success. Try to utilize the opportunities that come in your way sensibly. Develop a habit of trying and scale heights by facing all the challenges bravely. You will definitely achieve success when you receive both victory and failures equally and develop life skills along with studies,” she added.

A programme titled ‘Balevarinda Yelevarige Swaagata’ was held on this occasion, where 2nd PU students welcomed 1st PU students. Chetan, a 1st PU student enthralled all through is painting skills and also exhibited his talent.

Nanjundaswamy, Kannada Lecturer and Cultural Committee Convener, T. Aravind, Physical Education Instructor and Sports Committee Convener were present on the dais.

Earlier the programme commenced with an invocation by Kum. D. M. Maadalaambika, Computer Teacher. S. Somashekar, Principal, JSS PU College welcomed. Kum. R. Jeevitha, 2nd PU student compered and Kum. R. Anusha gave a vote of thanks.

Kargil Day Observed at JSS College

Mysuru, July 27, 2019: The Kargil Day was solemnly observed at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, located on B. N. Road, Mysuru, on July 26, 2019.

NCC Group Commander Col. P.T. Rajeev, who addressed the gathering, highlighted the significance of the Kargil war in showcasing the strength and bravery of Indian soldiers to the world. He emphasized that the support and assistance of every citizen played a crucial role in the success of the war.

Col. Jagraj Singh, Commanding Officer of the 14th Karnataka Battalion NCC, expressed his appreciation for the support and encouragement shown by the people of the country during the Kargil war. He believed that their unwavering support inspired the soldiers to fight courageously and achieve victory.

Lt. Col. Rosan Appanna of the 14th Karnataka Battalion, in his address, emphasized that the victory in the Kargil war served as an example that success can be achieved when individuals who love their country follow the right path.

In his introductory speech, Lt. Dr. L. Vinaykumar described the Kargil war as a symbol of national security, self-esteem, and morale. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers during the 60-day conflict and emphasized that Kargil Day serves as a reminder of unity and the need to honor the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the country.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, the CEO of the college, was present at the event, and Prof. M. Mahadevappa delivered the vote of thanks. Cadet M. Nivedita commenced the program with an invocation. The event also featured the participation of lecturers and NCC cadets in a Battalion program.

Bronze medal in WAKO INDIA Senior National Kickboxing Championship 2019

Mysuru, July 24, 2019: Pavan S K, a student of Final B.Sc. (BBM) of the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, B N Road, Mysuru, participated in the WAKO INDIA Senior National Kickboxing Championship 2019, held from July 18-21, 2019 and won Bronze Medal. He is selected to participate in the World Championship, scheduled to be held in Russia.
The College Management, teachers and staff have congratulated him for upholding the name of the college at the National Level.

Selected for District-level Yoga and Chess competitions

Winners of the Taluk-level Yoga and Chess Competition of the JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur, organized by the Department of Public Instructions, Nanjangud. They will now represent the school in the District-level competitions. The Headmaster and teachers of the school have congratulated the winners.
