Teachers’ Camp at Suttur Focuses on Stress Relief, Positive Thinking and Holistic Education

Suttur, April 4, 2026: Smt. S. Katyayani Devi, Chief Executive Officer of Sanjeevini Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Mission, said that camps should serve as platforms for relieving stress and promoting mental well-being. She was inaugurating the teachers’ camp held at Suttur Srikshetra on April 4.

In her inaugural address, Smt. Katyayani Devi observed that stress has become a part of life across all sections of society and is the root cause of many illnesses. She stressed the importance of controlling the mind, eliminating negative thoughts, and nurturing positive thinking. She said the programmes organised at the camp were complementary to this objective and added that the experience gained in the divine environment of the Srimath was unique and enriching.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Rashmi Koti of Andolana newspaper, Mysuru, said that the quality of an educational institution is reflected in the quality of its teachers. She noted that education is not confined to examinations alone, but should empower children to face life’s challenges, accept both victory and defeat with equanimity, and develop confidence. She emphasised that teachers play a vital role in this process and said that they should adopt teaching methods suited to the varied abilities and mindsets of students. Only then, she said, does the teaching profession bring true self-satisfaction.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Ashok Hanchali, teacher at Akkanagamma High School, Basavanabagewadi, said that the future of the nation is shaped in classrooms. He stressed that values such as patriotism, mercy, compassion, and love must be instilled in children from an early age. He said Indian culture is among the finest in the world and that children should be encouraged to imbibe its essence. Referring to the wisdom contained in the Vedas, Upanishads, and Vachana literature, he said these should be studied and practised in daily life. He further remarked that while society today has many intelligent children, there are fewer who are emotionally sensitive. Therefore, he said, good values must be sown in young minds and hearts to develop a broad and humane outlook. Indian culture, he added, is a spiritual light that can show the way to the world.

Shri Ramesh Narasaiah, retired Deputy Commissioner of the Commercial Tax Department, Mysuru, said that the teaching profession is the mother of all professions and serves as a guiding force for both future generations and society. He stated that teachers must remain cheerful and enthusiastic in order to do justice to their profession. For a healthy and fulfilling life, and to achieve success, both physical and mental well-being are essential, he said. He added that teachers should cultivate a passion for learning, noting that excessive competition and pressure tend to diminish this spirit. He urged teachers to bring positive changes in their lifestyle and embrace positive thinking to experience greater joy in life.

The campers enthusiastically participated in the camp activities, including mass prayer in the morning, yoga practice, and traditional games in the evening. A cultural programme was also held after the evening prayer. A total of 160 campers took part in the camp.
